I have no idea what you're talking about
I see people saying "I hope michigan wins so we can beat them and get more credit." If we win games, we will go where we want to go, regardless of how the Michigan/Bama turns out.
I am 100% behind Alabama for this game, a Michigan win would solidify their recruiting class and give the program tons of momentum, an embarrassing loss and going 7-5 for the year would mean so much more to ND fans than Michigan beating Bama and then us beating Michigan. This schedule is already tough, if we win the games, we will get the respect in the polls. I hope Michigan loses by 20 points.
So you are saying a win by Bama over UM would help ND more than an ND win over UM? If guys are on the fence, they are typically on the fence between us UM, not UM and Bama. Just saying.
I have to root for Alabama. I want Michigan to lose every game they play for the next five or so years. I want ND to be ahead of them in the winningest program debate!
...
I decided to read this thread to get things sorted out for myself. And I came up with a few things worthy of note:
Between Bama, UofM, and ND, the team that took the longest to lose their 300th game? The Irish!
I think that there is a hidden beauty in this game. I think Bama will push those poor wolverines so hard they will expose every effin weakness for Martin and Diaco to game plan. So to me I am not sure it matters as much the final score, as that we can see how to push the porkupines around. (There is no really good smear for the Wolverines, like Condoms, for USC, is there?)
Don't know about outcomes, cannot psychologise, what it will mean in the long run, because of the pointy ends on footballs and Wolverine's heads. But my UofM fan friends better not complain about having a tough schedule!
Just think if BC had won a few more games in 1993.... just saying... it happens. F$U
If yall think anyone is gonna give 2 sh!ts if we beat a Michigan team who upset the reigning national champs, you have your head sewn on wrong. Michigan egos will be so big they'd need 4 Macy's parades to fit them down the street. If Michigan beats Bama, mark my words, no one will care that ND beat them, all they will say is "Wow Michigan beat Alabama." ESPN won't care, Mark May won't care, Honey Badger for sure won't give a sh!t, the BCS will not care, it will not matter. So please hope that Bama beats their asses off for them.

Ah this reads like one of your political posts.
Nobody will care, huh?
Millions of Irish fans will care. Bob Stoops will care. All the networks carrying ND games will care. All the BCS bowl executives will have dollar signs dancing in their heads. Pundits will be saying novenas for a Battle of The UnBeatens with USC. Mark May will be predicting the stumble.
I agree Honey Badger won't care. He'll still be looking for munchies.
Michigan fans will be crushed like ND fans were after BC in '93 (look it up). What could have been.
See if all the 5 star recruits Michigan will swoop up will care. Seriously, I can't believe that you all think in the grand scheme of things that the U of Douche beating the #1 team in the country will mean less to the football world than ND beating the U of Douche 3 weeks later. No. Especially if ND doesn't finish the season 11-1 or 10-2 or undefeated. Brady Hoke will be hailed as the second coming of Christ, and ND will get passed over. Sure our fans will love it, hell, I'd love it too...but it isn't going to get us the cover of Sports Illustrated. You all know how it works with Michigan, they are the luckiest bastards in college football, thinking anything good for ND coming out of a win from Michigan is not gonna happen.
Funny, the last SI cover ND was on was for beating MSU.

I also recall, under Holtz, ND lost to UM and moved up into the Top 25.

I thought it was pretty clear. My mistake if it wasn't. Look at what Ndhoosier wrote. That is the point and he is indisputably correct. It would be terrible for ND's program if Michigan beat Bama.
So you are saying a win by Bama over UM would help ND more than an ND win over UM? If guys are on the fence, they are typically on the fence between us UM, not UM and Bama. Just saying.
If ND plays championship football there is plenty of strength on that schedule to have them waltzing into the NC game. We absolutely do not need them to beat Bama'.
Michigan will win the majority if not all of the remaining games on their schedule and will add to our strength.
In no way, shape or form will I ever root for the wolverines.. and Ive been stuck in MS listening to Feinbaum and his circus folk for 3 years. I hate Alabama.
In that sense I agree with Bog and Kissme.. but
In regards to recruiting and program elevation for Michigan in beating Alabama?
They'd maybe be able to enjoy the throne for 2 weeks but after we take them down in South Bend (with tons of recruits there) the spotlight would be re-directed to the Irish.
I think it would work out better for Michigan if they beat Alabama and didn't face a quality opponent, such as us, for 8-10 weeks. That way ESPN, SI, B10 Network would have months of bragging and inflating.. and Hoke would carry that win into recruits homes' the whole time.
But as it is.. They beat Bama, celebrate for two weeks and we come around and smack the smiles off their faces and re-direct the focus to the 4-0 Irish..
It's a solid argument both ways.
Your logic is so incredibly wrong, but I'm gonna keep my head out of this one.
I'll stick my head in for you, and I believe I know the points you are thinking.
It is incredibly wrong to:
1) Root for scUM... period...
2) Think that any opening game win for scUM is ever good for ND
3) State that any point NDHoosier has ever made as "indisputably correct"
Did I hit that nail on the head?
