Anyone else like riddles? If so let's post in here. If you're going to answer, let's start the post with "SPOILER:" followed by the answer. Here are a couple that I thought were good:

"General Gasslefield, accused of high treason, is sentenced to death by the court-martial. He is allowed to make a final statement, after which he will be shot if the statement is false or will be hung if the statement is true. Gasslefield makes his final statement and is released. What could he have said?"

"A farmer is trying to cross a river with a bag of corn, a hen, and a fox. The farmer's boat is only big enough to take himself and one other item per trip. The hen cannot be left alone with the corn or she will eat it. Likewise the fox cannot be left with the hen, or the hen will be eaten. How does the farmer get all three items across the river?"

SPOILER

Farmer brings the hen across, leaving the fox with the corn.

Farmer goes back for the corn and brings the corn across. He can't leave the hen alone with the corn so he takes the hen back with him to the first side.

Farmer leaves the hen on the first side alone and takes the fox with him.

Farmer goes back for the hen.

Farmer goes back for the hen.
On the second trip, does it matter if the farmer brings the corn or fox?

No, the constraints are symmetrical. You can switch the corn and the fox.
I thought so, but I'm normally terrible at riddles so I assumed I was missing something

You guys are good, I didn't get the court martial one, but got the farmer one. Feel free to post others.

Might as well be consistent and if you're posting a new one, let's start it with "RIDDLE:" to help identify what's riddle/answer/talk.

A classic: Poor people have it. Rich people need it. If you eat it you die. What is it?

Sorry, but if this is the correct answer, I don't get it. It's not like the Star Trek Harry Mudd bit where someone says "everything that man says is a lie." The the man says "I am lying." In this case the general was sentenced to death. The only released is the dead body from the noose or the body released to be buried, or the conviction overturned upon appeal.

When I opened the thread I expected an off shoot of the draft thread devoted exclusively to the Browns...

If you have two coins that equal $0.55 and one isn't a nickel, what are the two coins?

For real though, should talk to the Phammer to see if we can get the board upgraded and have real Spoiler tags. Other VB boards have a real working Spoiler tag that hides what you've typed unless someone clicks on the button to show the post.
