Rees and Calabrese Suspended for Navy Game in Dublin

Brian Hardin just announced BK's decision on twitter. Neither will travel with the team to Ireland.

Seem that Tommy is really going to have to work to get back on the field. Makes me think that the only way he gets back on the field is if the other QBs fail miserably or get hurt.

I know Carlo has struggled in coverage, but the kid's rock solid against the run and he's got a ton of experience. I don't see him falling out of the rotation.

WOW. That makes things interesting. I can't say its unfair, either ... although people will want to point out that Floyd wasn't suspended, and driving drunk puts lives at risk. Let's not even go there though.

This is more than being suspended for one game. Imagine being around the rest of the team for all of camp with them super excited for Ireland and you know you are not going? That is missing a once in a lifetime experience. This is a punishment to send a message, for sure.

And with that, the Rees era comes to a close. Golson and Hendrix would both have to go down for Rees to get back on the field. Its too bad for Tommy, and I can't really "celebrate" it, but its a good thing for the team overall.

I said it in the Golson thread, but realized it probably should be here.

I think this is easy for the fanbase to endorse because of the implications to the QB battle, but I am standing firm in my original thoughts.

If Michael Floyd is allowed to earn his way back into the week 1 lineup after a DUI conviction, I do not see how it is fair that Tommy and Carlo are punished more severely for a less severe misdemeanor crime.

I feel like this sends a bad message, but will go with whatever BK deems appropriate.

Listen, i'm a vocal proponent of Team Golson and Team Kiel, but that doesn't mean that I want our coach unfairly punishing our players to ease his PR nightmare about the starting QB. I feel like they should have been given the same opportunities as Floyd to earn their way back.

Agreed, and if for some odd reason if Golson were to struggle, atleast Hendrix is next in line and not Rees, or vise-versa depending on who starts (**Fingers Crossed it's Golson**).

Furthermore, celebrating a kid missing an opportunity like playing in Dublin is sad. We should be better fans than to openly cheer one of our players getting suspended simply because it makes it easier for another player to take his position.

I'm sure Golson would have much rather earned his spot over Rees than getting it through a punishment to Rees.
