Whatever today is for them, is better than where they were at 1-11.

He's going to leave that program in shambles. I was fairly certain of that early in his takeover and now it's not even a question. Call that what you want be he's an unmitigated disaster.

I love watching sports and I have my players I root for… and players I root against. Shaddeur is rising rapidly on the players I want to see fail.

I have to admit, seeing word of Colorado losing last year come across my screen made me smile. And even more will it do so this year

I don't understand what they feel they are gaining by doing this. They come across looking like jackasses, especially to today's athlete. On top of that, they did the classic 2020s social media "double down" and just kept the news cycle going longer than it should have.

It's one thing to be outspoken, but sooner or later you might cross the line into obnoxious and "telling it like it is" becomes assholery very quickly in the eyes of the public. This stopped being about how and why Deion is building his roster. It's now about him and his son putting an even bigger target on the backs of their program unnecessarily. While they don't mind having haters, it's about to go beyond that, and for a lot of players on that team and support staff around the program/athletic department/university that are keeping their mouths shut.

It is clear that how their season ended didn't humble him whatsoever. He's got all the players he jettisoned to blame.

I distinctly don't remember much of the tailgate, but I vaguely recall hanging with Chris Zorich and enjoying the Oregon beatdown of Colorado while we were waiting for the ND/OSU game to begin.
And by hanging with Chris Zorich, I mean I stumbled over and asked "Hey, you're Chris Zorich! Can I get a pic?" Nice guy.

If they lose to NDSU week 1 things are going to get ugly very quickly. Only favored by 7 last I saw.

Just catching up. Wow. Yeah that's not good. That Athletic story made Deion look not great. Airing his shit out like that probably got under his skin. But punching down at a kid who transferred out is a low-class move no matter what he said to a reporter. I hoped Sanders was better than that.
I concede. Deion is dumb, immature and making bad moves. Do better Deion

Treating backups, or just people in general, like complete garbage seems like a very strange way to run a college football program. CU's lack of depth worked wonders for them last year, I suppose.

Very bizarre week, even for them.

Oh not to worry. If football doesn’t work out I’m sure he’ll excel in business w the education and degree he’s working towards.

He's 22 years old and has a net worth just shy of $5M. I'd hand over both of my degrees without a second thought for that much money. LOL.

Sure, who wouldn’t. But even Shaddeur can find a way to blow $5 million. His dad’s money has him set for life… he’s not looking for money, he’s looking to be validated like every other rich kid. When money isn’t your carrot then you have to find purpose and motivation. He seems to be motivated by the wrong things… this could slowly evolve into a person even Deion doesn’t want around.

Deion thinks he is giving tough love to the guys, and some of his rules about being on time (showing up early), going to class, being accountable are all great things... However, as you mention, he is running the program like he only needs 50ish players on the roster. Driving away backups is a sure fire way to start a season well (potentially), and finishing limping in.

This 100%. Just ask Jemarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf and any number of other dopes that didn’t care about an education about having $ in hand but nothing to back it up. Sure Shaduer is different w generational wealth w his father but my point stands.

Leadership matters. The best QBs are often exceptional leaders. They may do it in different ways, but they lead none the less. If I was a gm, I would think long and hard about Sanders. He may have immense talent, but so do countless of other top QBs that failed. The fact that he and his father treated people like this in the open for all to see makes me think he has a higher flame out chance than most.

Shedeur isn't either of those guys though, nor is he remotely close to either of their situations when they were in college. The Portal, NIL and his pedigree have put him into a position that Russell and Leaf could have never fathomed.

He has a HOF father over one shoulder along with a litany of lawyers, agents and accountants guiding the path. For every luxury vehicle and gold chain, someone is there putting his money into places where it's going to earn more. A lot of these guys are far smarter about that kind of stuff today because of the resources made available to them and have to be because of the exposure of social media. Nothing is a secret anymore. Certain guys back in the 80s and 90s don't survive it with the shit they pulled. They were able to. Shedeur has access to NFL people who have gotten him this far and he's likely going to get drafted just as those guys did only with more infrastructure around him. There's a massive difference between his trajectory now vs Russell and Leaf back then.

And he obviously has Deion as a father and therefore safety net should finances go sideways.

There are plenty of people walking this earth that do not have college degrees and are doing just fine, and the majority of them don't have Deion Sanders as their father. While you and I probably value a college degree for ourselves and for our own children, there are obvious exceptions. Those exceptions probably don't manifest into opportunity for yours, me and mine but they exist nonetheless. The world is going to keep turning regardless of whether Shedeur Sanders gets a college degree. Jackson State, Colorado or wherever the hell he'd decide on will still be open later if he wanted to go back and get a degree if he decided it was worth it.

I'm very curious to see how SS is framed among scouts and the media in comparison to so much of the bull junk that got spewed out about Caleb Williams. The overall consensus so far is that this was a bad week and bad look for Deion and Shedeur. They should have kept out of the news cycle and let it go away. They doubled down and kept it going. That's there to be backtracked now.

They don't seem to mind playing the villain and in an era of sports where everything has to be bleached and sanitized, it's probably going to make for interesting TV when the season starts, but they're going to have to go through those interviews and such in less than a year with NFL people. So much of what they do from here could end up framing the perception vs reality. Ask Caleb Williams.

The "other son" has just officially blown his money. I don't think Shaddeur has any pending lawsuits against him, but Shilo managed to find a way to blow everything and it sounds like he deserved to lose every penny.

The boys bought Deion a house in January. It could be construed that he transferred his wealth to his father in attempt to shield it from this suit.

And I doubt the judge would be OK with that.

Leadership matters, but give me a processor over anything else. Imo , that’s the difference at the pro level.
