The only thing that bothers me about the "Deion's Roster Construction Making Waves" articles is that it misses last year's shining example, which legitimately was almost as shocking: USC.
USC shouldn't need a total overhaul, and yet Riley remade more than half of that roster with transfers and last-minute recruiting steals. Same shit Deion is getting blasted for, and Riley even got a little heat about it just last year... but it's like everyone forgot, or just wants to be part of the renewed conversation because clicks.
I think I may have figured out a way to fix the portal and college football, but not sure where to put it. I know there are some holes in it but it may stop/slow guys from blowing up rosters, gray shirting, buying up all the 5* talent, and reduce transfers.
I am all for commentary, as I said this is just my random drive time thinking here. This is the first time I put anything down.
What if we dropped the Scholarship limit from 85 down to say 60 (this number can change).
I know you can't have 53 like the NFL, because the NFL can trade/pick up free agents mid season but....
- Force coaches to develop the entire roster
- Force coaches to recruit quality, not just quantity
- Limit schools like (OSU/ALA/LSU) from being 4 deep w/ all 5*
-Parity - talent gets spread out as teams fill up
