I think that it was a suboptimal pick and Trump let himself be swayed by his sons when Rubio, Youngkin, Scott, and Burgham were all better options. But I'm not going to pretend that the left wouldn't have similarly smeared whoever Trump ended up picking.
Strategically Vance was a dumb pick. Might as well pick Vivek. Imagine if Trump picked someone like Tulsi Gabbard. You gain women, independents and probably even some just left of center democrats. I’m thinking Trump was banking on running against Biden.

I think Tulsi would be a disastrous pick for a number of reasons. I also don't think that the Trump camp believed Biden would be on the ticket. Republicans have been pretty vocal that Biden wouldn't be the nominee dating back to the Republican primary, and as soon as Vance was announced and Kamala agreed to debate Vance, the Trump campaign said they wanted to wait who Kamala would pick as her runningmate (over a week before Biden eventually stepped down)

I wasn't sure who it would be, but I thought Trump would go with a woman. Perfect opportunity to pull some additional votes that might be on the fence.

Too bad he's too fucking prideful to have picked Haley, which to any other politician, would have been the clear strategic choice.

I think Kristi Noem was the presumptive pick for a long time, but the dog shooting story torpedoed that.

No way, Tulsi would have been great. She would bring in more votes than Vance for sure given her background. Moderates in particular like her a lot more, she's an ideal VP candidate if you want to win votes (I doubt she has Vance's money ties though). She's also the one that torpedoed Kamala's bid for president in 2020, absolutely crushed her in the debates. I imagine she would be just as good against whoever Kamala nominates. I was really hoping Biden would have stayed in the race and Tulsi got the nod, would have been great to see her go against Kamala again.

This whole "JD Vance and Donald Trump are weird" messaging campaign that the left and their media are running on is weird when you consider the social beliefs of the DNC are ostensibly weird to the majority of Americans. Unless you consider segregating people based on sex and race for political fundraisers to be a normal thing to do

I don't disagree that he's a bit weird, but the fact the media is so coordinated and "hive mind" about it is rather bizarre for sure.

It is a bit funny though that the people calling JD Vance weird also align with these people:

Isn't this just doing what conservatives claim Biden did with Harris?

I don't think she was gonna get picked. I think she's just popular with the "Fox News" sorta crowd.

Biden pretty much admitted this is what he did with Harris. Same with his SCOTUS pick…
Of course, and that's incredibly stupid on his part. I think Harris is a qualified VP pick, I disagree with a huge chunk of her politics but she's not really that much different than Pence/Gore/Quayle/Mondale in terms of "qualifications". Brown Jackson looks like she has a better "resume" than ACB and not too different than Kav/Gors.

If the GOP wanted to play the DEI/Identity politics card why would they do the same thing the Dems did?

Well one, they didn’t. When you narrow your selection to only black women, that’s a DEI pick. He did her a huge disservice in doing so. Her terrible performance in Iowa didn’t help the argument.

To win. That’s like asking if democrats complain about republicans lying why do they lie.

The difference is Biden and the democrats admit to using people as a pawn in the game. While qualified, Biden and co didn’t do either any favors by admitting “I’m going to select from a pool of black women” instead of just picking one and saying she was qualified and deserving. With Biden they were qualified and deserving not on merit but because they checked a few DEI boxes. That’s not empowering and now we have women that’s running for president that you could argue would be our first DEI President.

Ah, the issue is they admit to it. Got it.

The GOP tries to play the DEI card.

In recent years they have lauded/pushed to the fore a person who thinks the world is 2,500 years old because the Bible says so, a cokehead boxer, one of the dumbest MMA fighters of all time and a person with a forehead tattoo who’s big claim to fame is that they slept with a guy who calls himself Yeezy.

An Indian-American from California is magically morphing to an African-American from the South before our very eyes. She'll be pullin' the hot sauce from her purse before you know it.

Kamala out here code switching harder than Brian Kelly!

That’s kinda normal honestly.

I sure as shit don’t speak the same way in front of the board of directors where I work as I do when I’m talking with some of the dipshit contractors I have to deal with at work.

My brother who is now a therapist but did a few years in prison way back when doesn’t speak to his clients the same way he does his homies.

Don’t need to play the DEI card, even if she is the most significant DEI hire ever. Don’t need the Willie Brown card. Don’t need to dwell on the fact that she is not qualified and has a super annoying cackle. Don’t need to dwell on her inability to speak well.

Don’t need anything other than her own radical views.

She wants to abuse the executive authority to deprive people of their second amendment rights.
She wants to ban fossil fuels and transition the workforce.
She is open to entertaining defund the police radicals and promoted a bail fund that released violent rioters.
She doesn’t view illegal immigrants as criminals and will not secure our border. She was a failed border czar.
She has no boundary for climate legislation, including rethinking diets and red meat. She once proposed a 10 Trillion plan for climate change.
She is willing to crash the filibuster to ram partisan legislation through the Senate.
She is willing to give extreme criminals voting rights.
She opposes employed sponsored healthcare.
She supports reparations.

None of these are mainstream views in the United States. Media and Hollywood are trying to erase history and pretend she is a mainstream moderate. Reality is she is a bay area left wing lunatic. I don’t know if she is really a lunatic, rather I think she is not smart and just a bobble head for the radical left.

You’re lost if your first example of playing the DEI card is a Christian.

Do you change your accent or the words you choose to use? I change my words depending on the audience, but don't fake an accent to pretend like I am the same. They are completely different, and one can be deemed racist or insulting.

In tend to cuss quite a bit more when I hangout with blue collar people/close friends. My drawl tends to become a bit more pronounced as well if I’m completely comfortable.

This kind of thing is pretty normal with most African Americans I know.

For me, speaking to an educated, white collar audience is more performative than vice versa.

Lastly, if it’s Spanglish being tossed around of course my accent changes.

Sure, you could argue that if you are a racist, misogynist simpleton. Kamala is far more qualified than Vance and/or Trump to hold high office and it isn’t even a close call. That’s probably why she is now ahead in six of seven swing states. And when she picks the PA governor as her running mate next week (I suspect) it’ll be 7 of 7 and the Christian white nationalists’ heads will explode because their cult leader will get beat by a black woman and a Jew.

Cool, im not sure what your point is. A half dead Biden beat Trump so why couldn’t Bidens token black women beat Trump? I’ve said for weeks Kamala will beat Trump.
