Why didnt we punch it in there at the end? We need style points. 40-10 is sooooo much better than 33-10

Overall, Kind of what I expected. Defense played great and we ran the ball well. Book, looked like a quarterback getting his 1st start on the road. Overall, I am happy with the win.

We did what we had to do
Beat a crappy team on the road in bad weather conditions with back up QB
D played well
Agreed with TV announcers that we used clock poorly
NC is poorly coached...penalties galore
Josh Adams is great
Hope we heal and get ready for SC and the remaining games

A few people (you know who you are) had this game played on paper in the game forum in the first half... 'woe is me'....

Number 2 just won by 28-14 over a non-ranked.
Number 3 just lost by 7 with 38 scored on them by a non-ranked.
Number 4 won by 24 over a non-ranked

Irish just won by 23 over a non-ranked, with second-string, red-shirt freshman QB making first start of college career at visitor's field, backfield working at around 80% health, and a D rated receiving core.

I take this as a great win.

Towards the end of the game, Fedora looked like this guy:

That sums up the dumpster-fire that is the UNC football team.

1) We would have lost this type of game in the fourth quarter last year.

That's all I've got. I'll take the win.

Good win with the back up QB.

Josh Adams another good game but we need him to stay healthy.

We really need to improve our special teams.

Defense played good again.

Julian Okwara had a great tip and Int.

Our WR's need to step up and catch the damn ball. And Mack.

If BW was in this game would have been a much larger margin of victory.

This.

It's funny to me, when ND is struggling, this post game thread is off and running before the game is even over.

When ND handles business and plays well........

I'm just glad I'm slightly disappointed at a 23 point win on the road with our back up QB and the 4th string RB getting significant reps.

I think Special Teams were fine with the exception of that entire series where we got backed up because of the offsides, then Polian burns a TO, then we pooch it super short. THEN, the next series we boot the ball out of the end zone. Why not just kick the ball into the end zone or to the goal line...OR try and kick it deep but to a corner. Then when/if it goes out of bounds they only have the ball at the 40 with no return potential.

I think Finke was better returning punts today.

Maybe a call to Frank Beamer for $10k for a month's worth of work

Was in a boot after the last game. Xray and MRI came back clean. Practiced later in the week. Was never expected to start but was dressed if needed. Foot is sore. Should be good to go next week.

The offense was decent overall, some flashes of brilliance and some cringe-worthy moments. They'll need to step up to keep USC on their toes

The defense was damn good. They are going to keep this team in games all season.

ST: Not bad, not great

Book managed the game well, and operates the passing offense "cleaner" than Wimbush, but it wasn't by a wide enough margin to spark a QB controversy at all. Wimbush brings more to the table in terms of aiding the running game and pushing the ball down field on 50/50 balls, which is where this offense will be at its best. It's nice to have a dude like Book ready to go, though.

Play calling was anywhere from "average" to "bad." I know they wanted to show their faith in Book and open it up to see what he could do, but if they commit to the power run in the redzone a bit more, that's probably a 47-10 game.

It's okay though, because THAT DEFENSE. They look so well prepared that it's unbelievable. And it's fun to watch! That hasn't really been the case since '12. These guys are obviously well-trained in fundamentals, and it's awesome that all the talk about practicing turnovers isn't just coach speak... it's legit. These dudes hunt with the "that's MY ball" mentality, especially Crawford and Tranquill.

Okwara and Hayes are a problem. Excited to see that progression continue (and Kareem, too).

Corners struggle to turn their heads in coverage at times, which is frustrating. But it's better than years past, because at least now they still stay in decent position. In years past, they'd fail to turn their heads AND be out of position. A team like USC could cause big problems throwing down field, though. Elko probably started looking at USC film in the lockerroom before Kelly gave out a game ball.

McIntosh looked wayyyyy improved as a pure RB this week. He looked good against MSU and Miami (OH), but didn't run like a RB if that makes sense... this week, he looked like a RB, running through contact, protecting the ball, and setting up blocks. I wonder how many reps he got at HB1 in practice the past week.

God help us if Tranquill were to miss time. Bilal looks like a physical freak, but he looks lost if the offense uses any type of misdirection or play action.

Playcalling needs to improve big time if you want to run the table on the back half of the schedule, but it's possible with how this team takes care of business on defense and takes advantage on offense, even with how banged up they are.

Good game
Win on the road
Book got the job done
What's with the receivers? Is that on Alexander?
Elko continues to impress, exceeds expectations
