1. UGA was the better team
2. Our o-line is good, but not worthy of the accolades/praise/hype that they and HH get.
3. Play calling didn't help, but Wimbush looked like a first-time starter. No throw accuracy.
4. Mike McGlinchey had a good get-off on that last play, kick-stepped well, and STILL got beat. Ugh.
5. Defense held up, but worried it was just UGA's shitty OL.
6. YOOOOON

Bonner looked good, and Daelin Hayes is gonna be a star.

Penalties kept this one competitive. Offense was hard to watch, really hard -- either Wimbush was being pursued, plays were being telegraphed or Wimbush was missing targets. I dread the rest of the season. Also, defense was great! Lots of players on D played really well (except turn your damned heads in the secondary!)

Team overall played better than I expected.

Oline has some work to do, but GA was stacking the box. I would like to see a mix up of play-calling when that happens.

So proud of the D tonight. For a group that everyone said was terrible, they held the almighty rushing attack of Georgia to a minimal number.

We are a better football team than last year by far and that gives me hope.

Go Irish

One more thing: Alize Mack... meh. Super over-hyped.

- Wimbush needs to learn to be a QB. Pre-snap read/adjustments are needed at this level. He checked down too quickly and too often due to pressure which brings us to...

- OL needs ot step up and bully people. We talk about hw great they are, but they have never shown their full potential.

- Way too slow on the running game. on that 3rd down wimbush made the correct read and needed to bulldoze ahead to get the 3 yards. Instead tried to go around. Dumb decision. But even Adams going to the line was dumb. They had guys stacked in the box. Nothing was going to open up for you by waiting.

- Passing game needed to be used way more, and you gotta be smarter about the routes you are calling. Way too predictable at times. Couple of drops. Need to clean that up.

- We are lucky they made a lot of mistakes. Otherwise the game would have been totally different.

- The late hit and the TD catch were questionable calls. I'll never get over them.

- Defense was impressive all the way around. Very proud of them. Last year UGA is scoring 60 on us. Considering all the possessions they had, you can't be upset with the defense.

- Finally, I have decided that I want Flutie to coach Boston College so we can beat his ass every year.

We were the lesser team and could/should have won.

Defense is to thank.

Don't have the weapons on offense to take pressure off wimbush and oline.

Play calling was terrible.

We lost the game when we had 3 straight runs up the middle after we got the ball back at 8 min up 2. Didn't even use the full play clock on that second down. Something you def. do if the plan is to run 3 times and punt. If we even get 1 first down that possession it's at minimum another 2 mins off the clock and a deeper more accurate punt.

Just completely shit the bed and played to not lose.

Julian Love did get lucky on some long ones.

Wimbush is not the guy. Chip Long is also not the guy.
Please.

Before this gets going.

This is one of the BEST defenses in the country. Possibly THE best. They returned TEN starters.

The oline couldn't handle the talent. Period. They could spring the Rb game... They couldn't spring the QB keeps.

Brandon's options were limited. 3 key drops, again.

Two blind side sacks.

How is that his fault? Peyton, perfect awareness, Manning used to get blind sided buddy.

HE'S TWO GAMES IN and we almost beat one of the best defenses in the country.

I can't describe how irrational this judgment jumping is. It's crazy.

Fourth straight year a key, bs, call against us (the late hit call) cost us points that ultimately decided the game... not blaming just that but fuck that's frustrating. The best defensive effort in years being wasted also frustrates me... very typical I guess.

I felt like Kelly was trying to relive 2012.
Conservative/play not to lose offense and hope the defense bails him out. It's unfortunate because he has the horses to play that game if they'd commit to a power run.

UGA made the plays when they had to. Lucky for us they started a true freshman or it was probably a blow out win for them.

Good:
DL looked good
CBs generally played well in particular Watkins looked great (hopefully he is fine).
Safeties looked much better than last week
Yoon and Newspme did a good job.

Bad:
Adams is slow to accelerate. Not a problem against slower teams but could be a problem against elite teams.
Most of the O-line. Really need to inprove and hardly looked like ND's best unit.

Mother Fucking Ugly.
WR's look bad including Mack.
McGlinchey was atrocious. Couldn't block the speed rush. Double down and missed the blitzer a few times. Looked lost.
Whoever chose to not play Dexter
Wimbush. He probably will improve with time but he is a really raw passer and isn't a particularly great runner. Inaccurate. Slow to make reads. Failed to get the first down on the 2nd to last drive because he went sideways instead of going straight ahead.
Whoever created the game plan that we should attack Georgia's defense horizontally.

He's not making reads. He's going to his check down before he even thinks about going to different options. He isn't showing anything that says this is his team. My opinion isn't baseless, but it is my opinion. He's not good enough.

* The defense was pretty good tonight. A few too many chunk plays and we lucked out big time on several deep balls, but overall a pretty nice effort. We got the late stop that we needed. Tackling was excellent tonight, there were several times we made plays in space we never would have made last year, preventing some third down conversions.

* Playcalling on offense was atrocious. Running the same plays repeatedly for no gain and our screen game is, once again, awful.

* Brandon Wimbush was terrible tonight.

* We badly need another receiver to step up and make some plays. Cam Smith had a decent game, but where was Freddie Canteen? Claypool? Boykin?

* Where the hell were the tight ends today? Why do we never throw to the middle of the field?

* Our offensive line is not elite.

Not really surprised by the game or the outcome. Typical Brian Kelly team and game.

Saw a shot of Stoops cheering at the Oklahoma/OSU game. He looked fired up, hope he has a desire to coach again.

That bullsh!t late hit call on Okwara likely cost us the game. Went from UGA having to kick from deep in their own territory to us down by one a few plays later.

I felt that way too, but the refs called a fair game. With the shear number of penalties against UGA any close call was going to go against us.

Random Thoughts:

That was one of the best, if not the best defenses we'll see all season.

With that said, we should have been able to establish something better on the ground. They loaded the box and we ran delays into it.. It seemed Georgias speed kept our play calling at bay.

Where was Dexter? I thought his quick twitch style as opposed to Adams North/South may have been more effective.

McGlinchey doesn't see that speed on the edge in practice and it took him to the shed tonight.

Our defense played better than I expected, especially against the run.

I hate when Notre Dame is favored against a big opponent.

Overall I'm obviously disappointed with the loss but I think they played tough against a good team. Let's see how Brandon develops.

Why is "he's two games in" always the excuse with us? Alabama has been a top ten team for a decade and they've had six or seven quarterback in that time. If you're going to be a top program, you don't get to cry about a young quarterback and then pray it all comes together every third year in the guy's senior season.

There are many reasons to not jump to conclusions and go all "FIRE EVERYONE", but it is so frustrating to lose every big game. The only infuriating thing for me was the play calling. Give Dexter a shot, maybe stop the slow-developing run plays that simply were not working. And why the hell isn't CJ Sanders ever in the slot?

It'll get lost in all the post-loss bitching but how about that effort by #13 (Jordan Genmark-Heath?) on the first Holyfield kick return? Sprinting clear across the field to prevent the return TD. Love seeing that kind of effort.

We got some calls that went our way and led to points too.

37 rushes for 55 yards tells you just about everything you need to know about this game. Wimbush wasn't accurate enough to get them to back off but ultimately even averaging 2 yards/carry would have been enough to get a win.

I'm so glad that got brought up... especially considering the hold that brought the play back anyway..... lol

They have defenses... always. They also play schedules to where when they lose one game like this they just beat Alcorn st, get back on track, beat the conference cellar dwellers and find themselves ranked number 1 all over again... but ND fans don't want to hear shit about realistic schedules.
