We haven't had a truly terrible passer in a while. Takes some getting used to.

Well, Malik had his games, where he was quite bad. Wimbush had has 3 in a row that are surprisingly bad.

Again, against bad teams, he'll make up for it with his legs. Against good D's, he flat out has to do A LOT better. ESB at this point is getting dumbfounded by his QB.

I felt like we had more the first two games. Today Wimbush wasn't hitting the receivers enough for them to drop it.

I don't know the number either but I know for a fact it wasn't even remotely close to why the passing game struggled.

How many dropped passes did we have today?

There are balls you need to go get...saw a tight end get run off a ball. I saw receivers not get to a couple I thought they should have...rather they stumbled our did not max effort, got run off the ball by a dback, or missed a pass.

Do you think the only ones that are on the receiver are the ones that bounce off their chest....if so we played for markedly different coaches with different expectations...

I said the receivers were subpar. I will take another look, but not working back to the ball, and any drops, misses, stumnbles, holp ups at the LOS... given the situation with BW......seems subpar from the receiver corps.

The receivers certainly didn't cover themselves in glory. But Wimbush sailed more than a couple, too.

BC always plays us tough we always seem to find a way to struggle against them. Love the running game but BW has got to play better if we expect to take the megaphone back next week. Either way I'll always take a win over a loss especially against a rival.

I know, I already said that...will say it a third time here. I also said the receivers were subpar, and somehow my saying sio was not justified...so the focus of my response was to point out that subpar was what I saw and it isn't just about balls bouncing off their chest...

I don't think anyone would disagree that the entire passing game kind of blew chunks.

I'll try to humor the haters.

Brandon isn't polished. Nor should he be at this point.

However, why do you (haters) think that Book is better than Wimbush?

What information do you have that staff, players, ans reporters don't?

Give the guy some time to settle in. He just set multiple records for QB in Notre Dame history. ON HIS FIRST road start.

That, in itself, is crazy to think about.

It wasn't long ago where ND couldn't seem to win without airing it out. We all lamented the lack of a run game. Hell, Darius Walker (2004-2006) had a career long run of 40yds. How many 40+ runs did ND have today? 5-7 I'd say. Nd has 937 yds rushing combined against Temple and BC, more than they had during the ENTIRE SEASON in pathetic 2007. http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2007-2008/teamcume.htmlVideo game stats. I would rather pound it, win, and not have to worry about the pass than the other way around. The problem is, the same team only managed 80 or so yds last week against UGA. I guess I'm torn. I always wondered why ND struggled so much to have a consistent rushing attack. Today, 515yds, 10ypc, and 7 tds, against much hated BC. Amazing, but still kinda hollow. Are we ND fans just numb these days? lol
That said, D is better that last year, what a game by Crawford. On to the next game

Sorry, but no. You can't put fault a WR, because he "touches" the ball on a horrific throw.

So, I love Wimbushs talent but why shouldn't he be better? We are watching QB's all over college football with less time in their respective systems play better? Why does that not matter to him? He's been practicing for this moment for 3 years.

Didn't see much that excites me going forward:
- OL not as advertised
- no passing offense; defenses will stack it

We rushed for 515 yards. Your second point plays into how dominant the o-line was. BC stacked up against the run and ND still rushed for over 500 yards.

On a positive note, Samford (whoever the F that is), had only 22yds rushing against UGA today.

I don't believe book could do better. But I do think our passing came is no planned very well. Take Mack and Smythe and do like 8 yard post routes, take ESB on a straight blow by everyone route, then bring sanders on a crossing route at about 6 yards then you can hold your back for blocking or send him on a delayed flat route.

I hope that the more comfortable he goes they better he hurls the ball. And it's my fault for thinking he would be better than this.

The way to improve the receiver situation is to get Stepherson back as a deep threat opposite EQ. Hope he is able to come back for Miami Ohio game.

Levy and Griese suck balls! That is all!

Agreed. Drue Tranquill is a walk-on?!?!?

Then Griese criticizes BK on his postgame presser after Saban did much worse in his weekly presser.

Idiots the both of them

It feels hollow because a lot of that run yardage wasn't earned. BC just sucked-there's really no other way to say it. Like others have said, better teams will eat up our running game if it relies on slow to develop runs and doesn't have a credible passing attack for teams to worry about.

BW and Adams are dangerous, but we've already seen that they can't win tough games with their feet alone. So it's tough to be too excited about winning an easy one by relying almost entirely on huge runs.

I am happy with the d though.

I would have felt better if our run game averaged 5-6 ypc but did it consistently.

I'm obviously not a coach, but how can they not have CJ on the field for more than the randon kickoff? None of us get to see practice, but it too often seems like too much talent isn't being used, ie CJ sanders and Dexter. Adams is a boss at times, but Dexter Williams looks like the real deal, and CJ sanders also.

depends on the "touch"...but generally, the expectation is all the easy balls, almost all the tough contested catches and some impossible catches...and if the QB is struggling, those expectations escalate...it is just how it is. If it were my receiver corps, they'd get lit up. And as I said, it isn't just about the obvious misses and drops...much more goes into doing the job.

Practicing for this moment for 3 years? Lol. He had two guys in front of him the whole time. Additionally, practicing and playing in an actual game are two completely different things.

Also, have you considered that Wimbush has probably out performed any qb you can think of, on the ground?

No one is perfect. Lamar Jackson isn't perfect. He struggles with accuracy at times.

Not only is Brandon new. But so is Long. And so is Tommy. And so is Kelly in his CEO role.

Not only am I confused about why people think we should be polished st this point. Im also confused how numerous records were shattered tonight, but yet we still think we should throw the season and qb in.

I absolutely hate the irrationally of some of you. Your sense of reality is pathetic.

It was painful the 1st half, but they adjusted and did their thing.

Reading these comments reminds me why people think our fan base is delusional as Fuck. The only way most of you are happy is if they play the absolute perfect game. Its kind of embarrassing.

They won... Enjoy it.

Rolling out BM was not a winner. The 3 wide sets with the slow as hell high school hand offs were maddening. I was sitting in section 'U' mumbling to myself. Would it kill us to run out of the I formation? Or are we saving that secret for 'the big games'?
Mid third quarter all was forgiven, the vocal home fans hit the bricks and the sight lines improved. Props to whatever town ordinance stipulated that all hot BC co-eds must wear Daisy Dukes. It was a bootymans paradise.
