Theo riddick ran with reckless abandon today. Tough win that will only strengthen the teams mental resolve for the rest of the year.

Blowouts over Top 15 opponents by Florida and Kansas State are going to dim our shine somewhat. But if we keep winning, we'll stay in the hunt.

BCS does not take into account margin of victory if I'm not mistaken. Florida still has FSU to end the season and I believe an SEC title game likely with Bama? Kstate still has some games against teams that could potentially beat them. Likewise we still have OU and USC on the schedule. Long ways to go.

Just win every week. That's the great thing about college football..You control your own destiny...

Bama will beat Florida in the SEC championship
Texas tech hands it to K-state next week
Oregon stumbles to Usc

regardless of whether all those things happen....worry about yourself...its not often when 7 teams finish undefeated...

-Let's not pretend like Rees wasn't pretty damn below average today. Multiple passes went straight out of bounds, but he always has those plays that end up resulting in a win. With this defense, I'll take it. Deep passes to TJ and deep passes to Eifert are enough to make it worth it.

-This running game has finally come together. Riddick was fantastic. That run that I missed the start of because I stopped paying attention is a highlight play. Wood had great runs, and that Atkinson TD was beautiful.

-TJ Jones is becoming a go-to receiver. Next year with whoever is at QB will have a treat throwing it to him. Very great all-around player. Eifert did well, Niklas's penalty was a game changer and he's fallen out of my personal favor over the past 2 weeks. Daniel Smith played a lot which I thought was interesting. There was more rotation with the wide receivers than usual, and Atkinson was split out with them a lot. The end-arounds were annoying to me but they worked in the 4th when we had what amounted to a game-winning drive because they kept the D honest.

-Offensive line was great. There were like 2 sacks I remember and both were coverage or Rees being slow sacks.

-Defensive line was pretty damn good. Best game for KLM this season, Tuitt had another sack, that facemask by Nix I think could have lost us the game but it worked out in the end. Good pressure at time but other times there wasn't enough pressure coming.

-Spond and Te'o did a damn good job today. Best game of Spond's career, Te'o got another pick and 10 tackles to put in the Heisman resume. Fox had an above average game and I didn't notice any other linebackers having a real impact.

-Disappointing game by the secondary. I can't put blame on one player but rather the whole unit. If BYU's QB was paying attention there would have been an easy TD on their final real drive because that dude was WIDE open. Russell had a couple passes that should have been batted down. Their first passing touchdown, that guy was wide open. Broken coverage. This cannot happen against Oklahoma because Landry Jones will pick them apart.

-Brindza did a bad job but he made 1 which was all we needed. Still, not even close to good enough and borderline embarrassing. Atkinson's returning has sort of fallen off. It's not even blocking. He's making stupid reads and running the wrong way. It's strange.

-Even though in the OP we will are forbidden to say Kelly is doing a poor job calling plays, come on. He called the same play 3 straight times in the redzone and they didn't gain yards. Kelly isn't a great playcaller but the way this team plays in the 2nd half, especially on defense, says it all.

Voters do, and they count for two-thirds of the BCS equation. I know everybody's got a lot of football to play, and the only poll that matters is the last one. But at this point we're lacking an elite win, and squeaking by BYU while teams ahead of us thump teams with Top Ten pedigree doesn't help the cause.
It's OK. Like I said, if we win, we're in. I doubt there's three undefeateds when all's through. Really I'm more concerned that we still make it into the BCS with two losses. We could use Michigan to win out, and Stanford to knock off Oregon and win the Pac-12 North. That's help our SOS a lot.

Winning in Norman and Los Angeles will make voters forget about anything else that has happened this season. KSU is a little concerning but their luck will run out in the crazy Big10/12

#10 Oklahoma slaughtered Kansas. They should move up in the polls and I would expect to see the Irish drop a couple of spots.

I believe our OL has turned the corner as far as the running game is concerned. Guess we'll found out next week.

No reason they should drop. That is crazy, however with an SEC bias and anything can happen and the only team that would rightfully jump them would be oregon state.....they are still 7-0

ND rushed for 279 yds against the 3th ranked toughest Rushing Defense which had been allowing less than 68 yds/game. #22 Boise St rushed for only 116 yds while #8 Oregon St rushed for 118 yds. ND rushed for almost 2-1/2 times Oregon St. total.

Put up 389 yds Total Offense against 5th toughest Total Defense which was allowing 261 yds/game and had allowed only one opponent in the last 14 to gain more than 300.

ND scored the 3rd most points of the season on the 7th ranked toughest Scoring Defense.

Hey dmort, ND put up those offensive stats against that highyl rated Defense with ONLY their second and third string QBs.

On defense despite two obvious blown coverages ND still held Boise to 243 Total Yds, 154 yds BELOW BYU's season average.

Of their 7 opponents only Boise St held BYU to less Total Yds, all of 43 yds less. And in the Boise game, BYU's starting QB Nelson was knocked out of the game and they had to play their second and third string QBs.

Golic is a liability. I guarantee you if ND wasn't 7-0 he w/b riding pine. I'd love to think what this offense could do with a solid right guard and one that doesn't have 3-4 drive killing false starts per game.

Golic definitely has trouble pass blocking.

As an observation I thought in the 1st half that the running game was there. I thought we had some good runs in the 1st half going right up the middle. This proved to be very much the case in the 2nd half. But truthfully, it was also available in the 1st half. Except for the final drive when of course we wanted to keep the ball on the ground, I was hoping that we would see more play action passes after we established the run was there. I think yesterday proved that you don't have to have a running qb to have a running game. (This is just a general statement not an argument for who should be qb)

Why would we drop? We won a tough game against a quality opponent. We should NOT drop. Probably stay where we are at.

And we won't. LSU is 6th and is a one loss team followed by other one loss teams. I could be wrong but other than Mississippi St., Ohio St. and Oregon State I don't think there are any unbeaten teams outside of the top 5.

On your first point, I think Rees has (correctly) been coached not to take chances. He threw a few balls away that last year he would have tried to fit in tight spots. This is good coaching. We are a team whose identity is to play great defense and run the football. The biggest thing lacking is special teams play.

On your second point: Again, we are a running team that wins with defense. I'd much rather Kelly run it in the Red Zone than pass, particularly with Rees who has no mobility. On the next drive Kelly added the misdirection for GAIII's TD, which was the difference maker.

The computers are not allowed to factor in MOV, but as was pointed out, the humans can and often do.

You're not forbidden. My point was that it makes you look like an idiot. We just had our second best day rushing (of the season), against the second best rushing defense on our schedule. You don't get there by bad play calling. That's not to say that there aren't stretches of 2-3-4-5 plays where you shake your head, but you cannot have that kind of day without good overall play calling. That doesn't make it great play calling, but it sure as he!! isn't BAD play calling. I have no problem with people questioning Kelly's play calling on that one sequence of plays in the red zone: that's fair. But to just proclaim Kelly to be a bad play caller is ignorant, and its one of those statements that glaringly highlights one's ignorance.

Just watched the replay with my son. If Kelly lives up to his word from three years ago of disciplining the troops, there are going to be some boys that will be in shape to run to China after those PF penalties.

So.... if there was a game to get these penalties and the missed field goals behind them, BYU was it. the Irish will need to work on those before OU.

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!

What the eff??!! Not only do we give up two TD's to BYU, we even let Boise get 243 yards on us without even being there?

Things are really falling apart...
