Tommy- accuracy is lacking again, though I still thought he'd lead us down for another score. That intentional grounding killed that drive.

Defense- we're just not making tackles like last year.

Coaches- WTF. The running shotgun at the 4 is getting old. We waste way too many timeouts either for taking too long to get the play in, or allowing Tommy too much authority to change whatever it is he's changing.

Edit: Playing to the whistle is the most basic function of the game. Hopefully we at least work on that these two weeks.
That intentional grounding was a BS call btw.

The offensive line had excellent pass protection. I didn't see Donald do very much. The run blocking didn't look very good, but it's hard to get many yards when your game plan is to ram Cam up the middle and throw long.

Guys...It could be worse. You could be a Florida Gator fan. We have just as many injuries on defense as them and we both don't have a starting QB. So it could be worse if you are a Gator fan.

And people wanted this team in a BCS game? Really?
I am not sure what happened to some of these guys on defense. Yes I am looking at you BJax and Farley. **** poor coverage and horrendous tackling.

So many negatives, most listed. Rees can't even throw the ball away properly now.

7-2 to looking more like 7-5. Thats called limping to the finish. Better get some of those youngsters in now get some experience.

I don't know that I feel any better than Gator fans do right now.

Still can't believe the staff hasn't put in Eddie V this year with all the injuries and ejection on the dline.

Tommy Rees gets way to much credit when he does something right. Seriously, its like some people treat him like a 7 year old boy with down syndrome..... "You completed a pass??? GOOD JOB!!! Wow you are really talented!!" Your supposed to complete a pass once in a while, and if the pass is a spiral half the board ejaculates. He's not good, not decent, not even average. I'm not saying he is the worst Quarterback in the country, I mean I'm sure there is some back-up Pop Warner kid who is worse (and Hendrix). seriously what positive trait does Rees have? He isn't accurate, no arm strength, has the elusiveness of a 70 year old paraplegic. You gonna say he is a good decision maker? Absolutely not, he stares down receivers and if a player makes a spectacular catch he will lock onto him for the rest of the night. The saddest part is that he is the best out of a 3 qb haul back in 2010. Seriously forget Hendrix, imagine how bad Luke Massa must be if he got beat out by these two. The only downside I can see of not Playing Zaire is that he might put on decent performance that might creat a competition controversy that could dissuade Golson from coming back and enrolling somewhere else next year.

One of the dumbest things said on this board.

I have always been a big supporter of Brian Kelly. But the blame for this game goes squarely on the coaching staff. How can you not execute a swing pass to a RB properly in week 11? Why can you not throw a screen effectively (although I haven't seen many)? Players not playing to the whistle that cost us 7 points and most likely a win. How does your quarterback, after how many starts, still not understand snapping the ball before the play clock expires? Maybe the calls aren't getting in fast enough? How does your senior quarterback, regardless of limitations, throw into triple coverage constantly... hoping someone will come up with the ball??? Where is the special teams... anywhere??? Punt returning is abysmal. Kick coverage is down right awful. Brindza has been the only bright spot. Bottom line, this team was NOT prepared to play tonight. I can't think of one game this season that the team executed the way they should have. Injuries to the defense? Alright... that's fair. I doubt Alabama would have a problem with Pitt with 2nd stringers. This season has been a complete failure by Kelly and company.

I apologize, but that's how I see it. Don't post often but read everyday. I will always love the Irish but it's frustrating. GO IRISH!!!

Yes. Yes. Absolutely, I would. I don't understand this logic. You think being 12-0 and getting blown out by 35 is any worse then limping into a nobody bowl against EastSh*tsville University who is gonna squeke by us on the biggest game of their live against our demoralized squad who barley limped in to bowl eligibilty?

1. Really bad game for Tommy Rees. For the first 3 quarters, I was pretty much sure that what I was seeing was this: If you can get a little pressure on Rees; he doesn't exactly panic, but he DOES hurry his throws and completely abandon good mechanics, causing a lot of inaccurate throws. But ND did a good job of protecting, in the 4th, and he was still having problems. Not sure if that was because he was pushing too hard, or what, but you had to feel bad for the kid..

...this is who he is...its tiresome, but the alternative seems not to be better.

2. I'm still perplexed by SOME of the play calling and/or formations. We empty the backfield way too often with Tommy back there. At that point, the defense can completely sell out out against the pass. They know that there is no threat of Tommy running the ball. And to have an empty backfield on 3rd and 2? WTF?

...IDK they see the players all week...my bigger concern was the lack of push from the O-line. The best tool to controlling momentum is a run game...how is it we couldn't run at all in the second half...a little run success and we don't see two picks from Tommy...etc. This to me is bigger than the crappy refs, or TJ's fumble, or even Tommy's INTs. The run game matters...a lot...when you are playing away and need to swing or hold MO.

3. Congratulations to TJ Jones, who had a big game (6 catches, 149 yards, 1 TD). TJ is well on his way to 1,000 yards receiving. He has 891 yards, with 2 games to go. TJ has been a very consistent player on a very inconsistent offense, this year.

Yea TJ took some shots, kept playing, and made some really nice plays...The fumble ...again meh, it happens

4. Jaylon Smith continues to look like he belongs on the field, as a true freshman. He still makes some mistakes, but doesn't look lost at all, out there. Sheldon Day made some big plays, as well, but had the HUGE bonehead play, when he did not realize that the ball was still live. Prince Shembo is hard to block.

Defensive line...I can't rag on them too much. Dbacks are the worst tackling secondary I've seen in a long time...we Don't tackle for sh!t. Inside backers were just slow to arrive everywhere tonight...not sure whats up there. Pass coverage from our Senior Corner was not good. The TD, well I can see that one...just how it unfolded. The PI call...yea, yea he can have his back to the ball...BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO...good hell turn and intercept the thing...it hit him for hell sakes...fvck. Rush was ok...Prince Shembo gets held a lot...no excuses but is there some conspiracy...what does it take to get that called consistently?

5. The secondary is still not tackling well. I've got no explanation for this, other than they just aren't as good as we would like to think they are?

The only thing I can think of is bad shoulders or something...they come up...they get ok shots...they just don't stay wrapped up...its like at contact the hope the guy falls??? WTF

No game ball for a loss, sorry.

Amen...UGLY, UGLY UGLY loss. This is the kind of crap that hurts us on the recruiting trail...lose to oaklahoma...fine. Michigan...ok. Pitt...really?

REFS:
This was really a poorly officiated game. Particularly, I am pretty wound up about Tuitt's targeting call...not because it changed the game...but because it was obviously NOT targeting since his head was down FIRST, and you gotta assume he went low to AVOID helmet to helmet...musberger and the boy wander acknowledged that looking at the same film as the booth...Good hell these guys reminded me of Pac 12 refs/booth crews...and I agree with a previous poster...we need to look at national pool of refs...I got no trust in the ACC after this. ND's play was embarrassing...but the refs' performance was too.

Two titles that no one remembers anymore. All anyone remembers is Tebow.

I disagree...anyone who gives a damn about college football knows they have won two titles this decade. Let's not turn this into a debate about whether Florida has had more success than ND recently. Because it's a pointless debate.

2 titles this decade. I'm sure they are still sleeping better than we will tonight.

If an ND loss affects your sleep that easily, then maybe you need to reevaluate your priorities in life. I, for one, will sleep just fine. I'm not happy about the loss, but it won't affect my sleep.

Two Games left

Two Games left

Tommy can try to finish up on a positive note by puling off wins in our lady two games. Chances of this are not good since Kelly has been playing with RBS like an idiot all season. This is the least accomplished backfield in ND history. We should have begged Cierre to stay just like Gunnar but Kelly probably didn't even try. It's unfortunate that us posters get more active when ND sucks which has occurred in almost all of their games one way or another this year. Will be interesting to watch Kelly eat poop this week and see what excuses he can come up with for this one. He is a politician. Can't believe so many of these underachievers are actually pro prospects.

Yeah. Sucks, but I'm going to just fine. Might read a book, go for a run, drink a few beers...life is okay.

This game was definitely disappointing but better yet just baffling to watch. I got done watching the game visiting my family in my hometown and when the game ended I just kinda didnt know what to think. I thought to myself, we lost to PITT?

I took a few minutes talked with my dad & brother and after a while and this is what I took away from the game.

Tuitt call- Bad
3 turnovers- Never good, Tommy made some rough throws tonite but some good ones too. Unfortunately, those picks done it in.
How does not one of our players pick up that fumble. Should have been a TD for the Fighting Irish.
Run game-disappeared in the 2nd half and didnt know why. I still don't know why. Lack of Folston was weird but Amir has to play better.
Finally saw a screen pass!-I think it was one of the 1st HB screen passes this season but it was thrown poorly. I was excited just to see one.
Farley's non tackle-Ouch.
What bowl game are we going to?- not a clue

It's disappointing after a loss especially this one, but this is our team. I know there were some bad calls but overall excuses don't matter. Execution does.

Next up BYU. c'mon Irish!
