Obviously 40 point was exaggerated.

So while that was an exaggeration, do you feel if Notre Dame can go out to Stanford (who may end up top 10 if they win today based off other teams play ahead of them) and beat them by 7-10 they will be in?

If they can be convincingly good vs Stanford I don't see why they wouldn't be in. Obviously depends on how the rest of the CFB plays out though.

Edit: think they need to beat them by 14-21 IMO

Problem is, more than 4 teams are 10-1 and better. So 10-1 is not 10-1 for playoff purposes. Eight team playoff needs to come sooner rather than later.

Bingo. More $$$ for NCAA, schools...more entertainment..

Contracts, i presume, are holding it back?

Also, no matter what happens at least Ohio State will not be in the playoff. Thank God!

If MSU loses and O$U wins they would be in the B1G championship game. They win that and unfortunately they would still be in.

I think player safety is a concern as you are really getting to a NFL regular season if u go all way to champ in an 8 team playoff

How can the committee put a 11-1 OU team over a 11-1 ND team? Seriously. There is absolutely no way you can overlook the common opponent in TX and NDs only loss is to the #1 team. We control our own destiny. Beat Stanford and we're in. Hope for the Iowa jump to #3 and ND gets a rematch with Clemson on a dry field.

Sorry if I sound like a Koolaid dispenser but this board needs some positive encouragement. ND is in the driver seat and ND nation should be happy where we are at. Could it have been a better, more complete game? Yes. But keep in mind this isn't a 2008-2014 ND team, we win when it counts and have the talent to do so. GO fking IRISH

But since MSU is in over ND no way they will lose to PSU so no worry

Oklahoma should have blown out a hobbled tcu team at home, instead they damn near lost. RELAX. Win and we're in.

10-1, can't be too upset with the effort against a defense who's played so well all year.

Was curious and looked this little tidbit up: Since the start of the 2012 season (50 games), ND has been held to under 20 points only 8 times, including tonight's 19 pt. game

Still no takers on upcoming cfp rankings? U can call the bet if mil is too high/low

Just seemed there were A LOT of folks claiming we weren't a top 4 team. Where they go?

I would take your bet but I'm on your side. Funny how no one wants to put up to back up their statement.

Take away the Redzone turnovers and replace them with at least FGs and add the missed XP.... 30-16 is what I might have expected.

oklahoma state's loss i think has locked us in unless clemson loses to UNC. clemson, bama, nd, b10 winner will be the spots. i think msu winning out would jump them to 3. iowa would probably stay 4. so i say we root for MSU to win out and get ready for the clemson rematch

Then why do FCS schools play so many games? North Dakota St. played 16 games last year including playoff games.

MSU winning out would mean that they beat Iowa for the title. So I think we could make #4, provided Clemson wins out....depending on them blowing out their opponent, because Bama is going to fucking shred FLA.

Seriously, FLA and the SEC East are the only teams that have seemed to play worse than ND the last two weeks.

I would love for FSU to beat FLA next week too, because that would give the Gators another L entering their game against Bama in the SECCG.

I played d3 where they have large playoff tree too Only thing I can think of is they aren't quite beating each other up quite like the big boys do.

yeah i meant iowa winning out means they would go 4 and us 3, meaning we play bama in the semifinals. there is no way we miss out if we win next week tho. a month to get healthy is going to do this team wonders too.

As an ND fan there is no ledge. This is typical, you should know that. ND has looked unimpressive in the last two games which should have been blowouts. Please explain to me how the playoff committee keeps ND in the top four after the past weeks' performance and for what is going down with the rest of the games. We are not a top four team. Period.

I'll say this one more time, WE BEAT WAKE BY ONE MORE THAN CLEMSON DID THIS WEEK.

The world is not going to end. So if the "best" team in the country cannot do much better against Wake at home than we did, was it really that bad last week?

Obviously doesn't forgive tonight's performance, but a little perspective is needed.

My two cents

1. Turnovers obviously, enough said

2. Fuller dropped 3 huge passes (critical 3rd down, bomb for a td, and crossing pattern that had huge potential) all because he lets the ball get to his body

3. Best receiver tonight was Chris Brown. Love how he took the ball away from the defender on a poorly thrown and bad decision pass by Kizer for a touchdown.

4. Those sideline shower curtains were hilarious

I think ND holds at 4, and Iowa hops to 3 this week.

For the final top 4...I assume Clemson and Bama are in...

ND needs to be at 3 after next week or I think they run a good chance of being pushed out after conference championships.

I'm honestly not real optimistic given the last two performances...Can absolutely count on a major WTF or two from the defense, and QB is making some Freshman mistakes, combined with Dismal performances from skill folks...too many balls on the turf that should be in hands. That could combine to change the complexion of the game real fast against Stanford...because they can score. Oline needs to eat their Wheaties or something.

I believe he was saying that MSU winning out would end up at #3, but if Iowa wins out they wouldn't jump us and stay at #4. But i could be wrong.

The talent gap between Bama and ND is still too much. We need to avoid them, so I would prefer that we get #4 and Iowa #3, which is likely considering how much weight that a win over OSU or MSU would carry, not to mention it would mean that they were conference champions.

Rematch against Clemson would be pretty nice too.

- we stunk tonight
- Kizer has been told about stupid interceptions in the red zone and giving up points. We are lucky Brown turned his int into a TD. Close to benching him. Not so charming when you keep F-ing up.
- Fuller showed his bad hands in a bad way tonight. Lucky for him he is coming back to work on that.
- Procise and Adams best games are behind them. Folston is our true number 1 and between Procise and Adams next year they won't total a 1000 yards if Folsten stays healthy.
- this game will serve as the data to have an open competition for QB next year. Zaire has to be feeling good about his chances.
-jalon Smith needs to work on his hands.
-Kelly's teMs play to the level of their competition and have zero killer instinct.
-let Clemson and Bama play now and save us some time.
- play calling stunk as usual.
- defense went soft in the fourth quarter with the lead......as usual.
- never want to see a BS green jersey again. The team didn't deserve to wear something different. Played like a bunch of nincompoops. How many games is ND needing to recover an onsides kick to preserve a win? Too often. As others have said Carlisle, brown and Farley played very good.
- where are our TE's?
- how come we can't sack a shitty QB? It's becoming a joke.
Only Hope Kelly rips the staff and the players who made the stupid mistakes. I would bench about 7 of them for the first series against Stanford.

Can we stop calling BC the top d in the country? Statistically, maybe it's true but they gave up 34 to Clemson, 26 to Virginia Tech, 17 to Louisville, and 24 to North Carolina State in the last month.

We torched em too, just couldn't make catches or keep control of the ball. I don't know what's with this team, but we've been like the wicked witch of the west under kelly. A little bit of rain and our fundamentals just melt away.

Actually we're better off if the perception of them being the #1 D in the nation persists.

As for the game, very dissatisfying experience, but please keep in mind this is a game that ND would have lost the majority of the past 20 years. I know that doesn't put points on the board, but maybe - just MAYBE this program has turned the corner for the immediate future. The game sucked, the result didn't. Beat Stanfors, heal, pray for Clemson instead of Bama for 1st round.
