I'm too old school for IE. I agree. I still prefer to use words in their classic sense (without dilution by modernity and/or slang.) So, for me, this is the Catholic traditional (Biblical) definition of "Hate." ---> "In a biblical context, "Hate" can be understood as a strong aversion or intense dislike, but it also encompasses A REFUSAL TO CHOOSE LOVE FOR SOMEONE. It is not just an emotion, but a way of relating to others and a chosen action, often contrasted with God's judgement against sin and evil."
I stand by my opinion, and my admiration for Francis, that he did not Hate anyone. He certainly did not like many persons' actions, and even spoke and acted against such actions, but "hate the sinner"? No.
p.s. I do not consider this unimportant word jiggling. This man was a very good man.
