This excerpt taken from the Michigan Bust dinner celebrating a previous teams #2 finish 25 years ago... I just got a chuckle out of it.

]
"I had to stretch my legs, too, so I appreciate it," he said.

Rodriguez wiped sweat off his brow early and often during the 3-hour event.

"This hot-seat stuff is not very much fun," he quipped.

Then, he got serious with a prepared speech.

He cited Hebrews, talking about the faith he had in program's direction, and talked about how Groban's "You Raise Me Up," inspires him before having it played. Rodriguez, his wife, Rita, Brandon and players stood on risers with their hands held above their heads as the song blared in the ballroom.

You know the ship is sinking when you are blaring Josh Groban.

I just can't get over how out of touch RR comes off as being.

You can imagine why he's made it next to impossible to recruit defensive players.

You just have a sense that RR is desperate at this point. I read a couple of articles as well about this banquet dinner and it's almost like he is pleading to stay. There is just an uncomfortable feeling up in Ann Arbor right now as nobody really knows what the future holds. Really glad we are not on that road again right now.

If it had been reported that Charlie balled like a baby, and everyone joined hands and sang you raise me up at a Football Banquet someone would have stopped me from jumping out of my office window!

Exactly, and it would have been coast to coast in a NewYork minute.

Can Mr. McGibblets get an event going on whether RR keeps his job? I feel like doubling up.

I guess u missed the start of the UCONN game.

As for DickRod, could not happen to a better guy. I wonder what would have happened if he did not turned down Alabama.

And now he has lost the only QB on his 2011 board, leaving 3 QBs on their roster.

They allegely lost that FLA RB, Dee Hart too, possibly because of the Justice Hayes switch but possibly because of the RichRod soap opera.

From the ESPN blog annoucning Michigan's bowl:

It's now official: Michigan will take on Mississippi State on Jan. 1 in the Gator Bowl Presented by 5-Hour Energy.

The matchup pairs two spread offenses and two coaches (Michigan's Rich Rodriguez and Mississippi State's Dan Mullen) who run the system extremely well. Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson and many of his teammates return to their home state of Florida.

I'm guessing Michigan would rather be seeing Tennessee in the Gator Bowl, as Mississippi State hasn't lost to a team ranked outside the top 20. This will mark the first meeting between the schools, while Michigan is 7-3 against the SEC in bowl games.

Haha...here is to hoping they get stomped!

This and the South Carolina (vs F$u) will be the only games I route for the SEC

MSU held Auburn and Cam Newton to 17 points. I think they'll be able to handle Denard and company.

Ok ok, I know I might get some fire over this, but when has Michigan been THAT good? I know they won a NC in the 90's, and they've been to the Rose Bowl...but they've been pretty mediocre since about 1998. Just because they are the big 10, doesn't qualify them in my book, as a "football dynasty". Just my opinion. Perhaps I've lived in SW MI too long with all the scUM Dbags.

i dont know, since 97, these are their overall/conference records under Carr

1997 12-0 8-0
1998 10–3 7–1
1999 10–2 6–2
2000 9–3 6–2
2001 8–4 6–2
2002 10–3 6–2
2003 10–3 7–1
2004 9–3 7–1
2005 7–5 5–3
2006 11–2 7–1
2007 9–4 6–2

they finished the year ranked in the top ten 5 of those 11 years, and finished unranked in only one of those 11 years. is that really MEDIOCRE?

i never thought Carr got the most out of what he had, and he always seemd to lose a game or two he shouldnt have each year, but id sure be glad to have him back over dickrod.

Dee Hart is now back on their list, I suspect that is because Meyer stepped down and he was told early in the process.

Here is an article written by a Detroit News columnist. Foster is generally pretty negative but the article is still funny nonetheless.

Column: Rich Rod's banquet performance 'embarrassing' | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Foster and his partner Mike Valenti on 97.1 in Detroit are funny as hell. Valenti is the guy that you might remember as the Sports Talk Radio guy who had a meltdown on air after ND came back against at MSU after being a million points, worth the listen if you can find it.
