Obama ran for President on a platform to end the wars. After his election he claimed a mandate to do so. Hagel was his hand picked choice to carry out his policy. With the emergence of ISIS, which Hagel called a major threat while Obama called them "The J.V." and acknowledged he had no plan to deal with them, should not Obama resign as he was brought on to oversee the ending of the wars, as commander in chief, not to start a new one? Your logic seems to be the knee-jerk rationalization of the "my guy can do no wrong" variety no matter what he does.

So the two Def Sec's before Hagel were also very critical of Obama's policy when dealing with global threats. They too "resigned" from their positions. Hagel was correct in his assessment of ISIS... Obama was not. And for that, Hagel gets his walking papers. Not only was Hagel right, but so was many more at the Pentagon. It appears the only ones' wrong in this whole ordeal is the President and his political cronies. Time for him to admit it.

Right, except that this wasn't a legislative action. It's well established that the executive branch has the power/responsibility to enforce the legislation Congress passes. Part of that power is interpreting exactly how to go about doing so. If Congress doesn't like Obama's executive order as much as they say they don't, they can easily pass an amendment to the legislation clarifying their intentions. Of course, they won't do this, because it's better political theater to blame Obama than it is to force him to interpret a law in a manner that would damage the economy.

You apparently have no idea how legislation becomes a law. There is no point engaging on this.

$70 for a temporary local permit
$70 (additional) for state permit
$100 mandatory pistol course
$15 fingerprints
$16.50 FBI background check
$50 Connecticut background check

That's over $300 and EIGHT WEEKS processing time to exercise my Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. And we talk about two hours at the DMV to get a free ID as too great a burden to require people to vote.

All I have to do is send in my renewal fee by mail every year (they are nice enough to send the reminder by mail) and I get my concealed carry permit. If I want it quicker, just hop in and they will do it in fifteen minutes. All for the low cost of $20.

I generally do not have an issue with stricker gun control laws. It should be hard for people wanting to purchase guns. Waiting times, effective background checks, etc are all fine with me. But sadly, the laws affect the law abiding citizen and does less to curb a criminal from getting a gun through secondary means. If states were to get tougher on illegal gun purchase, selling, etc it would not take long before we would hear the same arguments that are used today for drug arrests. It would be viewed by some as another way to target certain segments of our society and would be viewed as unfair and manipulative.

what ever happened to people who could show some empathy but still say "NO".

This is ridiculous...but relatively harmless since what Minnesota does isn't impacting Wisconsin etc. since HS sports are generally contained in the state...but it could bring up fairness issues when we talk about tournaments which contain teams from multiple states...

Our corporate overlords are making it incredibly difficult to make decent wages. Its almost like we are trying to compete with China in wages. Scary thought to think they are forcing a transition like this all the while transitioning the tax burden fully onto the public as well.

I work for one of the biggest Corporate Overlords there is and I'm very happy with my salary. I'm 25 and come from a quite modest home, neither parent possessing a college degree until my mom went to night school in her late 30s.

Scary thought to think they are forcing a transition like this all the while transitioning the tax burden fully onto the public as well.

Who else would bear the tax burden? Corporations? All taxes ultimately fall on individuals, whether through income, sales tax, higher prices, or lower wages.
