It's First Friday now?

In Cincinnati it's Final Friday. The Art hipsters in OTR do it realllllly big for Final Friday. It's damn near impossible to go anywhere on the last Friday of the month. I actually don't even know why people choose to do it.

If I want to wait 3 hours to be seated for an average dinner, I'll go to my in-laws and drink their beer.

I always thought of First Friday as a yuppie thing, not a hipster thing.

Do they have a brewery?

To be fair, I would venture a guess that for some traits yuppies and hipsters have a very fine line between them.

I don't make my way up to Scranton much, but I know they have a few tap houses with craft brews and have a few crafts/micros. Tussin would be more knowledgeable about this.

I'm technically a Wilkes-Barre guy so I'm not sure about Scranton breweries.

The Wilkes-Barre area has a few craft breweries -- most notably Susquehanna Brewing Company and Breaker Brewing Company.

If you are ever in the area, I highly suggest stopping by Sabatini's Beer Bar in Exeter, PA. It's a joint bottle shop and pizza place/bar. It has hands down the best bottle selection I've ever seen. The pizza and draft list is fantastic too.

Susquehanna is pretty good I'd say. Have you had Cunyngham Brewing Company near Hazleton? Pretty decent stuff.

Might just have to make a trip up there, force the girlfriend to DD.

The closest I ever get up that way is Reading / Allentown / King of Prussia. I really enjoy Iron Hill Brewery.

Iron Hill has some good stuff. Lancaster Brewing Company has an alright selection, if you can find them I say give their Winter Warmer and Milk Stout a try. Troegs, out of Hershey, is one of the best in PA IMO.

If you think Chipotle/Panera are for hipsters you don't have even the slightest idea what a hipster is.

Exactly. It would be hipster to NOT like Chipotle and prefer an "authentic" place that is overpriced but "all organic" even if it tastes bad. It would be hipster to NOT like Panera and prefer a local cafe with shitty sandwiches because they have good espresso and art on the walls.

Maybe it's a region thing, our hipsters go to Chiptole because nobody else does or because it's "all natural" and they're all above eating elsewhere... exact same with fucking Panera... I mean, watch a Panera commercial, it's literally , 'how to market to hipsters' 101. Also to LAXs point about other mex spots that are on a high horse about all natural and expensive.... there is literally only one place like that.... at least out here.... Chipotle. Same with Panera, if some mom and pop deli talked about saving the earth and how their food is literally comparable to going to medical school I'm sure all the hipsters would leave Panera in droves, but until that day.

Won't lie -- Iron Hill is trash IMO.

If you want amazing beer, go to Tired Hands in Ardmore. Also, if you want to see REAL hipsters, go to Tired Hands.

Sorry man, I disagree on your reasoning here. Chipotle and Panera is classic soccer mom/yuppie food. Expensive and bland recreations of actual good food.

Hipster is like what Lax said. Going to dive places that are not very good because it's so "authentic"

GD it... hipsters don't go to Panera. Grandparents and Zelezo go there for above average soup.

CHIPOTLE ISN'T EXPENSIVE! A burrito is like $7 and weights 40 lbs.

Could not be more true. They even call their red salsa tomatillo. TOMATILLO IS A GREEN TOMATO YOU F*CKING IDIOTS!!

Hey now, what's wrong with above average soup? I love soup. The breadbowls are expensive though.

Chipotle is not expensive either. Where else can you get a taco bowl with steak and guac for $8? It's an above average lunch chain.

It's expensive versus it's taste.

$7 dollars for a good burrito is not expensive.
$7 dollars for a chipotle burrito is expensive.
Then you're a hipster.

Anyone who fuqing loves Chipotle is a hipster. Anyone who thinks Chipotle is trash is also a hipster. Chipotle is exactly "pretty good." No more, no less.

Except everything lax decried is exactly what chipotle sells itself to be, it just happens to be a chain, and I'm telling it works,... what you find at normal burrito spots is all kinds, what you find at Chipotle is a bunch of Michael Cera looking fools with neck beards talking so everyone can hear them about what a better person they are for choosing chipotle. I'll put it like this, it is clear both attempt to gain that market.... no?

Let's put it this way: some here are taking it as hipster means never eat at chains ever... everyone does from time to time... when hipsters do they tend to flock to certain chains over others... no?

Dawg, tomatillos are an ingredent in their red salsa. It's red from the "chile de arbol" they use in it. They also have a green tomatillo salsa.

I'd eat Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowls from Panera all day, every day.

I don't even care that the soup comes in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag and gets frozen/reheated every day... that shit's good.

When the bread starts to absorb the soup and gets all mushy, and you can scrape off the bread-soup mash with your spoon, that's nice.

The rest of Panera sucks. They are supposed to be a bakery, but most of their bread and all of their desserts suck. The only good dessert is if you're lucky enough to get a chocolate chip cookie that's still warm. Their sandwiches suck.

You ask for tomatillo down here, you get a really green salsa. That's too confusing.

I dated a vegetarian chick in high school who was eating that shit every single day for like two years. She cried for hours when she found out after the fact that it was made from chicken stock.

Lol... I'm telling you I'm convinced this is a region thing and mid west hipsters are just more adventurous.... but to this point, finding a seven dollar carne asada burrito is hard to do round here, and most all five dollar ones are bigger and better than Chiptole, they're just not prentious enough for our local coffee shop set to pay attention to.
