Here's how I'd explain Asian racism:
1. They all (weirdly) look down on each other. Koreans don't date Japanese or Chinese, and vice versa. But they all REALLY don't like Vietnamese, Thai, etc.
2. Of the "Big 3" in Northern Virginia, the Japanese acted by far the most "superior" towards other Asians.
3. I don't have any experience with trying to date a Chinese girl, because they're (generally) the worst looking.
4. Japanese parents seemed to be the most OK with a white looking part Latino "American"... I honestly think it has something to do with whipping their ass in WWII.
5. Koreans seemed the most strict about only dating Koreans, and they also HATED black people. I have no idea where that sentiment is rooted.

Hines Ward has spoken about his mother's experiences with that in the past. If I recall, she basically got ostracized.

1992 LA riots. The police left Koreatown to burn while they set up their perimeter in Beverly Hills.

Yeah I was going to say that the riots left a scar on both sides there, at least as far as I can tell in my experiences,... a large enough portion of the Black community saw the Korean community as the enemy, and enough of the Korean population holds on to the memory that they were a deliberate target... speaking only to Los Angeles of course.

It's not universal at all though, my Korean buddy for example has never had issues and most of our close friends (shared) are black.

The Japanese felt superior to all other Asians in the early part of the 20th century. Part of the reason they invaded China before the U.S. entered WWII.

While true it might deserve mentioning many collective nations felt superior to those around them/ 'the rest'... Some tribalistic aspect of human nature that has slowly dissolved as we've all gotten to know and understand each through globalization and such... Large level Contact Hypothesis...

Your proud of your ancestors stealing land, spreading disease, committing genocide on religious minorities, and enslaving people of color?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

You do know that American slave traders purchased their slaves from BLACK people in Africa, right?

This is manure.

You mean completely true?

This is classic PC bullshit. It is OK to call literally every single white person racist. But then I point out racism I observed for years and years from a group of people and it's "manure."

I mean hell this last weekend I was at a winery with a Korean girl (co-worker with my fiance). She said her mom told her sister that she was disappointed she was dating a white guy because she could "never tell him he liked him." Dad still refuses to meet or acknowledge him. This kind of crap is so common I didn't even blink at it... saw it every day in a high school that was 60%+ Asian... but because most Asians communities are quite insular, very few people observe it.

Asians get a pass because they are POC. Same reason Muslims get a pass for being anti-gay bigots and misogynists to an extreme. Just get to have some skin pigment and you can do whatever the hell you want.

I think this comment touches on the whole issue with PC,... It's not about right or wrong anymore... It's not. What's right or wrong can completely change from situation to situation according to who is 'PC acceptable' or who isn't... You have the bully pulpit crying about everyone else judging things according to race, but all they do is judge every situation according to which race(s) are involved, go change the skin color and their reaction can completely do a 180.... It's a clear case of becoming what you cliam to hate imo.

So wait...my Korean friends at college told me one of their friends was a Twinkie because he was really white on the inside and that I was an inverted Twinkie because I was yellow on the inside.

So was that diversity or racism?

Nah du, my grandparents on both sides were quite racist. I am well aware of Asian racism. BTW, I am half Chinese and half Japanese. One side didn't take my parent's the marriage to well, any guesses on which side to test your accuracy? Yes, it was one side. Any takers? And zero fcks given, Asians can be some of the most racist people on the planet. Spare the victim mentality.

Then what the fuck was your problem?

If you want to correct my hierarchy of Asian racism, go ahead.

That wasn't a post taking sides on the dialogue between you and lax, simply taking his thoughts in that one post and commenting on it... I think it hit on something outside of your exchange... And I believe the critique of PC is valid and much needed...

It's tough when someone makes a three word post to gauge what they're saying. I interpreted it exactly how you did. Apparently, he thinks Asians are racist as hell, but quibbles with how I interpreted their actions in high school or something. So... sure, I guess.

Well, for one, Japanese at times are uncomfortably humble, so I find your comment of Japanese acting superior contrary to their culture. Also, the war atrocities of the Japanese to both Chinese and Koreans is a good start.

The problem, of course, is looking at one individual's experience and judging the racial tolerance of all 4 million Chinese Americans (1.3 billion worldwide), 1.7 Korean Americans (74 million worldwide), and 1.3 million Japanese Americans (130 million worldwide) based on that limited experience. It becomes even more disturbing when someone assigns the PC label to anyone who does not agree with the conclusions drawn from one individual's limited experience. Seems a bit hypocritical to lash out against the notional perspective that all white people are racist (which is an absurd idea on its face) but in the same sentence claim that all Japanese, or Koreans, or Chinese are racists, as if the ignorance of others gives one licence for his/her own ignorance. People are people, no matter their race. There are ignorant white people, just as their are ignorant Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Latinos, Africans, Germans, Irish, and British. I would think that we would all aspire not to be counted among the ignorant.

No, I was pointing out how it's PC to call literally every single white person racist (see: Wizard's earlier post) but when I share my personal experience (which I qualified saying things "in Northern Virginia" and "of people I tried to date") that was somehow not allowable.

I misinterpreted what GoldenDome was saying, but ACAMP read it the same way.

This was pretty much exactly the point I was trying to make, and I wasn't trying to say ALL of them were racist. I was saying that, in my experience, they are by far the most overtly racist groups of people I've ever encountered. That doesn't mean every person in the group is racist, it means they had the highest frequency of showing overt racism. And on a larger scale, there are studies/polling data to support this. Yet I've never once heard a protester or blogger or anyone else comment on racism from Asians.
