Like the prosecutor said...we gotta see what was going on here. Everyone wants this shit done immediately but I'm guessing it's not that easy.

Minneapolis is very liberal but idk...you can make a pro-police and anti-police argument for both left and right leaning folks. Hopefully justice is served whether that means he is charged or not. It sure didnt look good but I'm not a big fan of calling people murderers generally.

Simply my opinion, but the vid should make it pretty easy to at least arrest the one officer on grounds of excessive force. Probably playing politics and calling for a grand jury...

And yes, Minneapolis is very liberal. Their last two police chiefs are minorities IIRC, and the current one is African American. Almost 50 years of lib Mayors. And lib govs for about the last 10 years, so they can't blame that either...

I've got the news on now, and several more buildings are burning.... People are fucking stupid. It will take their communities 10+ years to rebound if they're even able to recover at all. National Guard doesn't look to being doing much. Guessing the gov prefers to let the city burn.

This just blows my mind. They have the perfect case to get the vast majority of Americans firmly on their side, most of my friends & family - black, white, lib or conservative - are appalled and disgusted by this killing, and then they throw it all away by burning and looting. So many of the people who were disgusted and appalled by the killing of Floyd are now repulsed and turned off by the senseless looting and violence. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yup. Incredibly stupid. Don't get me wrong, I still disgusted with what happened and want justice for the guy..., and think the cop should be jailed...... but, now I'm getting more disgusted with what I'm seeing from "protesters". Between the race baiters, idiot media personalities, and folks celebrating while stealing and setting shit on fire...

Saw one vid of a bunch of guys chugging booze while hurling stuff.... I guess they looted another liquor store like last night.... And another of a car driving slowly saying "shoot the white people".. That crap is going to erode a lot of what should be focus on the actual wrongful death.

Right now, the 3rd precinct is burning after being invaded by "protesters". When you're a mayor and you allow folks to burn down a police precinct..... just wow..... This is like driving slowly by a highway accident... Hard to not watch... Need to get some sleep lol.

Trump said that he was sending in the military. The hell with that liberal city. Let them
Burn it to the ground and when they ask for help trump can say Um no. Your mayor feed this buy calling this a racial attack and stirring the pot. Sorry and good luck!

This is no different to the Gray incident in Baltimore I because of my area and where I working I got to see and read things others didn’t. Another liberal mayor that causes more issues than has solutions.

What a shit hole.

One of the interesting things about America is we were formed after a bloody revolution. We celebrate such events like the Boston Tea Party (looting). We talk about having 2A rights to protect us from the government. Yet whenever things like this happen, it's overwhelmingly looked at with disgust by the general public. When exactly is it ok to go all "Founding Fathers"?

I'm not condoning their actions by any means, just find our bipolar nature interesting.

I used to be the "rioting is counter-productive and just gives the other side an easy out to ignore your position" crowd, but after the past few weeks and things that have happened, I think I'm kind of starting to understand.

People say "demonstrate peacefully." Kaep did that, but got ostracized because it "wasn't an appropriate setting."

People say "second amendment to defend my life and home," but Breonna Taylor gets gunned down by police in her own apartment because her boyfriend opened fire on intruders... who turned out to be police who refused to identify themselves while serving a warrant AT THE WRONG RESIDENCE, AFTER THE GUY THEY WERE LOOKING FOR HAD ALREADY BEEN IN CUSTODY FOR HOURS.

People say "just don't resist and everything will turn out okay," but George Floyd died in custody anyway.

People say "I have a right to defend myself," but when Ahmaud Arbery is sought out and confronted by two men with guns and a third man prepared to witness an altercation, and tries to defend himself, he's killed by a man who is then protected by friends in the DA's office until the video gets out. Not charged because he killed a guy... charged because the public finally saw it.

At some point, peaceful protest, obeying the law, following orders, etc. etc. doesn't even work. I can't blame the black community if they feel like they have no other options but to go crazy at this point.

You may say that rioting achieves nothing... but gathering in peaceful crowds does nothing. Social media outcry achieves nothing. Appealing to the government hasn't helped. Democratic governor can't control things. A republican governor wouldn't be able to, either.

Hell, white men in Kentucky (notoriously oppressed group!) protested with guns inside the state capitol because... they were asked to wear masks and couldn't go to their favorite restaurants?

Can you imagine if a group of black folks showed up with rifles, masks and tactical gear? It would have been civil war in Frankfort.

America was founded on violent protest. Should citizens be above that now? Idk at this point. People will disregard the entire issue because some black folks took some flatscreens from Target. And that seems to outline the issue as well as anything, imo.... willingly missing the forest for the trees.

Kind of like that lady that tried to weaponize the police against a black dude because he asked her to follow park rules and put her dog on a leash. People didn't care about her fake hysterical theatrics as much as they did that she was mishandling her dog. That's a problem.

The Boston Tea Party is not really a good example. They dumped 300ish chests of tea in the water to protest specific tax conditions. They didn't steal it for personal gain (looting), nor did they set fire to the ships or anything else as far as I can remember. It was a measured action directly against the ships/merchants responsible for assumed transgressions, not against unrelated businesses or individuals. So really wouldn't call it going "founding Fathers". The Colonist did set fire to other ships at other times (but again specific and measured), but not during the BTP.

It's an interesting comparison. I recognize being a LEO isn't easy, but we've had a thousand cases to work with that should make us recognize they are unchecked and far too powerful.

I don't understand how this case was the tipping point for anyone. The Daniel Shaver murder in a hotel was probably the most alarming one ever for me. The police and county effectively covered up something similar to this in Dallas.

Some of these abuses have already risen to SCOTUS-

These were looking at blatant abuses of qualified immunity.

✅1. Steal $225,000 in cash and gold coins from a homeowner while executing a search warrant (Jessop).

✅2. Try to kill a non-threatening family pet by cooking off shots across a yard full of proned-out kids, striking at a 10-year-old boy in the back of the leg (Corbitt).

✅3. Bodyslam an unarmed, unresisting 5’ tall woman wearing only a bathing suit, knocking her unconscious and breaking her shoulder--simply because she ignored a command to “Get back here!” (Kelsay)

✅4. Sic a police dog on a suspect who has been sitting in a position of surrender with his hands up for 5-10 seconds, nearly killing him (Baxter).

✅5. Interpret consent to search a woman’s residence for a fugitive as permission to perform a full-blown SWAT raid that virtually destroys her apartment and nearly kills her dog (West).

✅6. Conduct a warrantless search of a doctor’s files, seizing documents containing highly sensitive, confidential patient information with no judicial authorization or supervision (Zadeh).

✅7. Act like a stalker while trying to administer an alcohol breath test to a man on misdemeanor probation, including wrapping his security camera in police tape (Brennan).

https://t.co/udMBvWfruN?amp=1

Also, alarming to me is the militarization of the police. Just a few weeks ago, a SWAT Team in a MRAP showed up to bust a few vigilantes supporting a bar during the lockdown.

So do I think the people are justified in protesting the police? Hell yes.
We're there. The police power in this country is absurd. I wish the media and those who are feeling passion here would jump every time we have one of these events.

The Boston Tea Party had "thugs" who rebelled against taxation and targetted ships that were owned by a trading company that was legally favored by the British government, giving them a distinct legal advantage over the colonies- "taxation without representation."

Want to rip down the Minneapolis Police building? OK. You're going to pay in taxes, but OK. Burning small businesses and low-income housing doesn't hurt the police. Looting Target makes you look like a thug and hurts your cause. This cause is going to be hijacked by criminals and radical mouthpieces like Sharpton.

I'm a big fan of the Killdozer protest. Local government is corrupt as hell and this guy did it right.

I just think it somehow cheapens the Boston Tea Party when we compare it to the guys getting a new TV at Target.

I missed the looting and arson during those ReOpen whatever state rallies?

Step one - don't put yourself in position to be arrested by the police.

Step two - if step one doesn't work - be rich before being white, preferably both though.

But what exactly does the looting and rioting accomplish? You say XYZ didn't work but why would this work? All these cops who now have to work overtime and probably feel like their lives are threatened are going to somehow be less racist and less violent after this? I think it does the opposite.

On the topic of peaceful protest not helping/working... MLK and Ghandi would disagree.

And sorry, looting and setting fire to unrelated places doesn't accomplish anything except for taking the focus off the important issue of Floyd's death. It's not just a few big screens from target. It is the trees that blind folks from seeing the forest.

And not sure what white people in KY that were peacefully protesting and legally carrying firearms has to do with stealing stuff and setting fires to a city. Sure, it's strange and rednecky, but it was peaceful and lawful. Nothing was stolen or destroyed.

As far as Kap is concerned.... He chose to protest something by disrespecting something a lot of folks hold dear. I absolutely respect his right to do what he did, but he could have done many other things that wouldn't have been divisive. And he did it at work. The workplace doesn't have to accept behavior done on-the-clock that is divisive and harmful to the business.

If I was unjustly killed by a cop, the last thing I would want people to do in my memory is destroy my neighborhood, steal shit, and burn down buildings.

That cop should spend the rest of his life in jail, and the looting/ rioting does nothing to improve the situation.

And...these people were NOT social distancing. Just saying.

Huh??, the rednecks playing dressup didn't break any laws. They didn't steal or burn shit so why would anyone shoot tear gas at them?

And none of these folks in MN are getting shot while they are stealing and burning. Hell, they broke into, and then burnt a police precinct, without even a siren while everyone watched them do it live.

What happened to Floyd and Arbery was disgusting, and the folks responsible need to be punished. But there's way too much hypocrisy when looting and setting fires is deemed acceptable.

Was there any looting or fire setting when Timpa was killed in a similar manner to Floyd less than a year ago? Or how about when police AK'd an unarmed man crawling on the ground (per police instruction) begging not to be killed (and then police refused to provide body cam footage). Or how about when a cop shot an unarmed 10 year old while trying to shoot a family pet in 2018? More from Drayer (reps Drayer) above if interested, but I've included 2 vids below.

So why no looting and fire setting for those? Have you even heard of them? Wonder why? Let me know when you figure it out.

LOL you cant see the difference between the two protest events?

Group 1- No laws were broken (allowed to carry guns), peacefully demonstrated, did not destroy property or hurt anyone.

Group 2: Burned down/destroyed 170 + business', broke many laws (robbery, burglary, assault, and arson to name a few), burned down government buildings, assaulted people, and promoting violence.

As a cop, that video is absolutely disgusting and infuriating. That cop needs to spend 25 to life in jail. There needs to be changes in how police recruit/manage personnel. We cant have sociopaths like that possessing the power/authority that is given to cops.

And the "celebs" and media personalities that are fanning the flames to this riot, preaching that it is justified- its easy to be the coward nowhere near the riot screaming to fight- they arent the ones who will be hurt or killed. Their lives wont be destroyed.

That is patently false. There’s plenty of examples of black peaceful protesters w/ guns protesting the murder of Floyd & protecting against looting. They have just as much right to be legally armed as any white protester. I haven’t seen any violent reports of armed protesters whether they be white or black.

You all do realize that Timothy McVeigh blew up a federal building to protest law enforcement violence?

Also, the working premise of the entire “white nationalist” movement is to engage in proactive and or reactionary violence in protest against an oppressive and unresponsive government.

So yeah, the idea that “right wingers” don’t engage in violence to protest real or perceived state violence and. more specifically violence against “white people” is baloney. I mean that was the basic premise the gunman who showed up at that mall to “kill Mexicans” was operating under.

The incident was completely awful, and the officer in question deserves to spend a long time in jail. That said, the looting of Target stores and the call from Kap to riot is bullshit. Target isn't responsible for all of this, it's an excuse for people (People of all color were at fault in videos) to steal. There's no justice being done by the looting and rioting. If they want justice, they should flip cop cars and egg city hall. Hit the government responsible for the officer's training, not the corporate and mom/pop businesses that are innocent.

A few bad apples will always spoil the bunch. I don't know wether I agree with your take. Anarchy only strengthens the anarchist for a short period of time, and the Government comes back stronger and more willing to militarize against the people they work for.

Idk, this all sounds conspiratorial but, many people including his Lawyer were under the impression that It was more than 2 people involved and that the "revolution" would continue.

Holy shit! That one with the boy doing everything they said and being shot after begging Is so crazy!
I'm in tears thinking about the corruption and abuse some of our Law ENFORCEMENT Idiots are willing to do just so they feel better. I do realize some threats are real threats. This obviously wasn't the case here.

The boy was hands down legs crossed, and the LEO's had ample opportunity to subdue him without killing.

Let's be factual here. The so called "right wingers" you're talking about were all dems 50s years ago... They jumped over as single issue voters when the dems became "progressive" on things like guns and immigration.

And neither McVeigh or Crusius (mall shooter) were fans of republicans. McVeigh was getting vengeance for Ruby Ridge and Waco. Ruby Ridge happened under Bush, and Waco just a month or so after Bush. It was all about Fed power. Crusius criticized both Dems and Repubs equally for allowing big business to import labor.

And neither of their violence was condoned or excused by mainstream or true conservatives.

That one remains the most alarming of these I've ever seen. Shaver is drunk in a hotel room, perfectly legal, and gets to play the hokey pokey or die in the hallway. The more learn about the cop, the worse it gets and you would be betting wrong if you thought he was in jail today.

IMHO. I have had friends and still do from all different ethnicities. I have witnessed people showing me their racist side through the friends I have had, and It's always a little weird.

The Media Is causing this fiasco! The realist of real people just want to live and survive.
Nobody deserves or wants to be thought of as secondary.
I'm completely sick to my stomach watching this.
As far as I'm concerned Trump should put an executive order out to stop All Social Media until people grow up and stop being 50 year old children.
