We don't know what happened, but Bogs, come on.... of course most teenagers aren't going to mention any misbehavior in a situation like this. It doesn't matter if the kids are black, white, red, pokadot, or purple. Half the time teenage kids think what they are doing is all in good fun, but they might actually be disturbing other people. Many neighborhood pools are known to be hangouts, and the life guards turn into babysitters.

Hey, I apologize. I actually bungled up my statement pretty well. I didn't mean that the teens didn't mention any bad behavior, but that no one reported any kind of bad behavior by the teens at the party, and the entirety of the 09-01-01 call was that there was a (contained) fight between several individuals. This fight is clearly identified as the one between one of the kids and one (or more) of the woman (pictured, yet unidentified), who fled before the police arrived.

And at the time the police arrived there was no fighting.

Further other video shows the resigned cop, from the time he answered the call, grossly aggravated the situation.

I set a state 400m record and possibly a new land speed record at the slightest mention of "cops" at any party I was attending while underage.

IMO, I don't think this guy was cut out to be a police officer. His actions and the way he's looking around tells me his mind was going 1,000 mph and he was having a hard time processing everything in a logical manner.

The officer had a pretty extensive and impressive background. Is the job getting too difficult for a human being to handle?

But, seriously........... running at the sight of a police officer was also what started the Freddie Grey chain of events. In both cases, the officers seemed to be incredibly angry that someone took off running. I'm just trying to understand if this is some kind of affront to cops, or if they are pissed off that they have to chase someone, etc? I mean, do they really have to give chase to every person who runs when they look at them? It would seem to me that if 20-30 of the 100+ people at the pool party ran, I would be more inclined to stick around and disperse the other 70-80+ people, instead of chasing after the runners?

I don't know. Unless they were searching for the girl that attacked the resident and just trying to get everyone to chill so they could find her? Either way I think that's a big question too? Why were they running so hard at the beginning of the video? Like I said, I assume it is to get the person/s doing the disrupting. I guess the people there and in that community only know.

The McKinney officer at the center of all this had earlier in the day worked a suicide where a man shot himself in front of his wife & kids, then responded to a situation where a teen was threatening to commit suicide by jumping off their parents' roof. I imagine the cop was a little stressed out that day.

When the media turns a certain set of events into a game of cat and mouse with those whom take their job seriously... sure! They're are all wondering about that code they signed up for and when the next time is that the smart ass'es want to test the only authority they've ever known. The authority needs to originate from the home. ((shirley does) Mom's and Dad's.) Time to start indoctrinating our little ones with the intelligence needed to understand Law and Order is of the utmost life events in this probable future.

Excellent post, kmoose. Reminds me of the old joke about the guy who says that when he was 15, his dad was the stupidest person in the world. When he was 25, he was amazed at how much his dad had learned in the past 10 years.

See, this is a problem. After seeing a death like that, he shouldn't have been responding to this type of call. The brain needs to have time to filter through that.

In that line of work, though, you just have to put it out of your mind and deal with it later. It is similar to being a soldier; you don't get the day off of an invasion just because your best friend in the world died in your arms. You compartmentalize it, finish your day, and then deal with it later.
