it's practically unplayable in rural areas, it's really only designed for folks who live in big cities.

getting repetitive always getting the same pokemon types over and over alright.

yeah I have already hit my limit of excitement with game. I am pretty sure i have every eevee that exists.

I have literally only caught one Eevee. But I have caught at least 200 Zubats.

This is why trading should have been available from the outset.

weedle and pidgey's for me lol

Pidgeys are very common for me too. I need one more Weedle to evolve my Kakuna into a Beedrill.

I'd say my most common in order are:

Zubat
Pidgey
Ratata
Spearow
Caterpie
Weedle
Clefairy

As I type this I get a Cubone and Rhyhorn (had not seen either). LOL I am sucked back in.

I got a Rhyhorn after the FC Cincy game on Saturday night, on my way to the car. First one I had seen, after my friends reporting them as "common."

I've also got an abundance of friends that have Magmars (my 3rd favorite Pokemon) and Charmeleons from the wild.

I think my favorite that I've caught so far is a Tauros that's ~700 CP. I'm trying to grind stardust so I can power him up a few times and use him against gyms that have electric types.

I have not once seen a Charmander or Magmar or any fire pokemon in the wild except for one Growlithe. And absolutely ZERO electric types.

I have all kinds of other shit... bulbasuars for days, tons of water pokemon, etc... but it's very annoying not knowing where/how to get fire or electric.

I've actually done okay in terms of fire types. I have Growlithe, Vulpix, Ponyta, Rapidash, and the Charmander I started with. If I could evolve the ones I have, and manage to grab a Magmar and a evolve an Eevee into a Flareon, I'd be set on all of the fire types in the original 150, minus Moltres.

It is frustrating that Charmander isn't nearly as common as Squirtle and Bulbasaur. How in the hell am I supposed to improve/evolve my starter if I can't find his type in the wild like the other starters? Plenty of Squictles and Bulbasaurs out there.

The only electric type I have is Pikachu, and I got him from an egg. I guess I should go play near power lines?

This is me exactly me except that I got a Pikachu from an egg.

I don't see many Squirtles or Bulbasaurs. Have not been able to evolve either one.

My only connection to Pokéman (GO or otherwise) was opening my wallet every two weeks to pay for packets of cards for my son and his buddy when they were in middle school.

I nodded, uh-hummed and feigned interest.

When I sold my house I forced him to take the over sized duffle bag of cards he'd amassed.

He wasn't going to take them but I insisted.

Maybe they'll be worth something some day and he'll thank me.

Just FYI --- there is a bug currently so everything is 3 steps away no matter what. As of this afternoon it was still that way for me, even with pokemon I could already see.

Man if I could get cell reception down here at my cabin in Tennessee, I'd be tearing it up. I have caught 10+ Pokemon in the past couple of days just from standing on the porch and using the cabin's wifi.

Yeah this whole distance marker thing has been screwing my hunting opportunities. I don't know what to look for or key on when my wife is driving the car haha.

So the resurgence of the craze lead me to getting out HeartGold to play for the first time...

The upgrades they made in terms of the 3-D look and the interaction with the touch-screen/menus for Pokemon/items is just fantastic. Even the interactions with other characters are much improved.

I guess I've been missing out since not playing any of the games since the original Silver haha.

Anyone from the Dallas area? I just moved here yesterday from Cincy, and would love to know the hotspots.

As expected, there is a grand master-plan for this game to continue forever. They will introduce Pokemon over time, playing the long game. I'd imagine they will roll out new Pokemon by generation every time they have an anniversary, but that's just my guess.

They WILL introduce trading; they have plans to make Pokestops more important and/or more objective-based, such as providing modules that turn Pokestops into insta-heal stops for your Pokemon; they plan to introduce friendly battling; there will be team-specific interactions, and probably team-specific chances at catching one of the legendary birds.

They are aware of the three-step glitch, and will fix it at some point, but they are "more concerned with keeping the servers running as the game continues to get released in different places."

AKA, "this glitch makes it a bit too easy to locate and find specific Pokemon, so we don't know if we want to fix it. We'd rather you just wonder around aimlessly in frustration, catching 27 Pidgeys and 38 Ratatas for every decent Pokemon you find."

The problem with that is that there's nowhere near the level of nostalgia for Gen 2 and later Pokemon. The Kanto 151 are iconic.

That is absolutely true. But those people that they have hooked based on nostalgia will eventually lose interest (as I already have for the moment, at least until they fix the tracking glitch). I'd bet they will try to release the later generations, the ones people don't really care about, in hopes that new Pokemon will renew interest when they need it most. Whether that actually works or not would be another story.
