I will however be asking for gift cards for x mas and my b day in May... and I will, one way or the other, get one no later than middle of May... (The games I really want don't come out at launch anyway)

Not a playstation guy but I think the same goes with every console. I don't understand buying consoles on launch day, there is bound to be some sort of bugs/glitches and why not wait a couple months till they get everything fixed and there is no mad rush to get it, just my opinion.

Will wait until my PS3 craps out. Hopefully will get another year or two out of it. This way can wait for lower price and hopefully more additions added to it. Looks great though and will be excited when I do get one.

I had xbox360 for two years, but then it got Red Ring of Death.

I made the switch to PS3 at that point, which was right after the "slim" version came out. No bugs, glitches or hardware issues to deal with like the first launch, so I was going to try and hold out for the PS4 for at least a year... I don't know if I'll be able to though.

I never was a PlayStation guy either, but I think I'm going to make the switch this time around. I will, however, probably wait until the summer since I also don't like dealing with new release glitches.

That was the most mind-boggling part. I kept it in an open spot and clean. I dust my consoles nearly every day, even when it is unneeded, after a bad experience with PS2 back in the day. Even so, my 360's continually failed.

Eventually, me and a friend got a 12-pack one day and googled/youtubed how to fix RRoD because we'd both had the issue multiple times. We made a trip to Lowes for the necessary items (some screws, a couple of 'x' brackets, some high-heat lubricant) and drank beer while we tried to take my xbox apart. We eventually figured out all of the complications to actually taking the system apart and getting it back together (it's like a damn puzzle; you have to connect 12 different pieces at 12 different spots/levels all at once).

After the beer and hours of effort, it worked for an extra month and then died again. That's when I made the switch to PS3.

I can be pretty anal retentive with my technology and such... When people still bought CDs I was known to o buy new ones if the old one got scratched or the case got messed up... So believe me, my systems were well taken care of... It would **** me off as it usually always happened right when NCAA would come out

That's funny, my original 360 had a nasty habit of giving ONLY my NCAA football games ring burn. When I bought NCAA 08, it got ring burn, so I bought another. Same thing in 09. So then when I bought NCAA 10, I made sure to get disc insurance through Gamestop.

Of course, none of my other games got ring burn during that timeframe, nor did the version of NCAA that I bought insurance for.

I'm a big techie(work at BBY) and have had my preorder ready since the day they announced it.
I'm sure there will be glitches,but that's part of the fun of getting it hot off the presses.

Just a reminder for anyone getting the PS4 at launch: Make sure to do a system update once you start it up the first time, as there is a mandatory update to run most applications. Yes I am not happy about it either, but want to give you all the pertinent info.

I was just informed yesterday that my PS3 is beyond repair. I got the YLOD in July and sent it out to GopherMods to get fixed. They did, but in September it happened again. They fixed it for free (under warranty), but the disk drive was broke upon return. Shipped it again, and got a call that the motherboard is basically fried. I want the PS4 badly, can't really stand Xbox, but I was hoping for the PS3 to last me until the spring. Looks like I will have to do without a console until then and start saving for it.

I took advantage of Amazon's buy 2 get 1 free deal this past Tuesday. So in a few days, I'll have Madden, FIFA and COD to stare at until I pick up the PS4 in a few weeks lol.

I've never really experienced launch day problems myself. I've had a new system at launch going back to the SNES. To date I've never seen any issues with the systems, and my PS3/Wii both work fine still. I did get DRE errors on my PS2 after a few years of use, but it was replaced by Sony for free because of the lawsuit (I think Microsoft had a similar one for Red Rings of Death).

That said, I won't be getting a PS4 at launch. Got kids now, a budget, and my systems are collecting a lot of dust these days. Now that theres no NCAA game for next year, I'll have even less reason to play a system. I'll probably upgrade my desktop before I buy a next gen system, although the nice part about waiting is the games and system will both come down in value.

For the record, I have always been a PS guy over Xbox. Even though I have both PS3 and 360... But this time around I am only going to get one of them. One of my good friends pre ordered both of them, and I am going to give both a thorough test drive before i decide which one I get. I just dont game enough like i used too. I cant justify buying myself both of them.

I am predicting that i am going to stay true to my ways and get a ps4. However, some of the XBOX features are absolutely killing it in terms of innovation. The whole voice recognition on xbox one is amazing. And to have the ability to control your cable through the xbox is pretty freaking cool... Thats probably the one thing that is keeping me from automatically settling with a ps4... Decision, decisions...

This... a least a little... I remember when the first of my close friends got hinched and had kids, I thought the "don't have time" line was a total BS line or that their ladies had totally beat them into submsiion or something... and I called some out on it...

Yup, that'll be me too I had an ex that couldn't believe I still played "kid's games" (Video games like Fallout and Resident Evil) at the ripe old age of 27. I don't see myself shutting them down anytime soon. My parents had hobbies l like bowling, card games, and board games when I was little. They didn't have gaming like we have today.
