Curious what people are thinking about the selections so far:

Oliver Luck (WVU AD)
Pat Haden (USC AD)
Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin AD)
Condoleezza Rice
Archie Manning
Dan Radakovich (Clemson AD)
Jeff Long (Arkansas AD)
Mike Tranghese (Former Big East Commissioner)
Tom Jernstedt (Former NCAA exec VP)

I don't know how I feel about current coaches or AD's being on the panel. There will be an obvious bias with that.

Yeah I don't know what will happen if their school is in question. I think the three current AD's are solid choices though

So awesome. Only SEC guy is Manning and he's far from a stupid fanboy. Stanford is... well represented lol.

Lots of people I respect so far.

I am sure it will happen just like in Basketball. When a school that is being discussed is too close to a member of the committee, that committee member leaves the discussion.

I like the group so far.

Why are Condoleeza Rice and Archie Manning on the selection panel? Why not have journalists, ADs, and Conference commissioners?

I'd rather have those two than Clay Travis, Dave Brandon, and Mike Slive every day of the week.

IMO, you want as many people without a vested interest in a given team/conference on the selection committee as possible. I'd rather have no ADs, but I'm glad there are at least no current conference commissioners. And for the love of God... no "journalists" EVER please...

For reals. These days "sport journalists" are just pundits who use small words.

That's a good point - but I'd prefer to have people with football knowledge. After all, it's not like Condoleeza will know very much about the teams other than scores and what the journalists write about them.

I don't know -- I've heard her talk about football in some interviews and she seems pretty hardcore. At one point I thought Ty Willingham was going to need a restraining order...

Great. So Notre Dame's most direct representation on the committee is a punch line former coach. Sheesh.
