This is right there with the '73 Sugar Bowl with Ara having the balls to call that pass to Weber a backup TE who only had one catch all season. That sealed the win against Bear Bryant and Bama.
That is so long so my parents are too young to remember. You gotta be my grandma's age!

They didn't flinch.

I watched that entire game with a sense of pure calm because I knew they wouldn't flinch. The ride is different this year. The other shoe hasn't dropped. Even the 17 times that game felt like it was going to get away from them, I was calm. I didn't stop believing. This year is different. This year is more.

They are the best of us.

Steve. Aeneas. Jaden. Christian. Mitch. Would you have expected any of these to step into the brightest January lights to this point? No. This team carries each other, though. They carry the man next to them and his weaknesses. His pain. His discomfort. They forget their own and carry the man next to them. When the man next to you is ready to battle for you, everyone walks the wall together. It's an unselfishness and work ethic that's missing from greater society. If the world were more like this football team, it would be an incredibly better place. That's why I've been able to lose myself in them for 60 minutes each week. Yes, 4 Quarters of Fuck You Football is better than the reality we live with as regular humans on a day to day basis.

That's what sports is for so many. An escape. A break from bills, to do lists, hospital visits, vehicle repairs, all the things. This team is showing us all things are possible. Neutrals find Notre Dame "likable." Guess what? My grandfather came to his country from Italy and found them likable. Our family has found them likable since 1936. Suddenly the rest of America is having a look at Notre Dame Football in a different way. In a sport that is over 150 years old, a coach that doesn't look like all the rest of the coaches who've been there is going to the National Championship. He doesn't sound like the rest of the coaches. He doesn't make you feel like the rest of the coaches. He's our guy. He's Notre Dame's head coach. Marcus Freeman. "Act like you've been there before."

We get one more evening with them. The biggest evening of them all. Nobody could have possibly imagined it. For over three decades, January was reserved for disappointment and heartbreak. For the closing of recruiting classes leading up to the first Wednesday in February. Now January is creating memories that will last a new generation of Notre Dame fans a lifetime. January is creating new Notre Dame fans. Out of thin air, who have often rooted against them, but have decided that they like this coach. They like this quarterback. They like this TEAM. That is what they are. A group of individuals that compile one unit. They're the sum of many parts. Nobody is bigger than the other. They don't flinch. They don't wait for the other shoe to drop, and when the shoe starts getting lower, they don't LET it drop. This year is different. This year is more. They are the escape, the hope.

They are the best of us.

In Notre Dame,

Jigga

This is why ND won’t join the Big 10," Portnoy wrote late in the first half. "They’d get physically dominated virtually every single week,"
Quote by Dave Portnoy. Typical Skunkbadger running his mouth before the game is over.
Bend over Dave the Leprechaun wants to show you his thumbs.

ND has like 4 wins vs the B1G this year. That guy knows fuck all.

When I googled Penn State draft profiles for players, this is what returned:
  • Abdul Carter, EDGE (Round 1)
  • Tyler Warren, TE (Round 1)
  • Nicholas Singleton, RB (Rounds 3-4)
  • Kevin Winston Jr., DB (Rounds 3-4)
  • Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE (Rounds 3-4)
  • Zane Durant, DL (Rounds 4-6)
  • Jaylen Reed, DB (Rounds 5-6)
  • Kaytron Allen, RB (Rounds 6-7)

ND's top draftable players were Benjamin Morrison, Xavier Watts, Rylie Mills and Howard Cross. 2 inured, 1 compromised

Plus ND sustained their 4th and 5th injuries on the OL this season. And this team still found a way to win.

Seriously, Penn State was loaded with talent.

They had some phenomenal individual players. IDK what percentage of himself Carter was last night, but damn. And Warren. And their RBs and some of the other front seven guys were dudes.
We had the better team.

And that one guy, Dani Dennis-Sutton with the creepy pornstache has been outstanding the past few games. I'm no expert, but I think his stock is gonna be higher when all is said and done.
But also, feel like their team is pretty indicative of a PSU team and who ND has been in the past under Kelly. PSU has always had the Saquon Barkleys/Micah Parsons but as a second tier recruiting school, they can't quite seem to put the whole team together.

Weird stat that almost has to be true. Notre Dame is the first and only team (until tonight) to win two bowl games in the same year.

Unfortunately I don’t think so (if you’re talking calendar year). It’s probably NY6 bowls though. Thinking because Michigan won the Rose Bowl then whatever BS bowl they were in this year

I am running on 4 hours of sleep and dealing with 14-17 year olds. But, that win and the fact that the majority of the 14-17 year olds are State Penn fans has me energized like I was hanging in Miami with Tony Montana. I just hope I don't crash later in the day! :ROFLMAO:

Coached a modified game until 7 last night, got home just in time. Stayed up till midnight. Son needed a breathing treatment for a virus at 1, then woke up at 4:30, now teaching HS. Let's ride through this together

Due to a family vacation that we scheduled long before the playoffs, I had to watch the majority of the game on an airplane. Never been more thankful for Southwest and their live television (which includes ESPN). Thanks to that, I was able to watch the game with my son and share the special moment with him (and with his undivided attention). I'll remember this game forever!

As far as the game, this is the 2nd game in a row when I had absolutely no idea who was going to get either offensive or defensive MVP of the game. I honestly felt both awards could have gone to so many different players. It's pretty amazing to win two of the biggest games of my lifetime with so many different players making HUGE contributions and winning with a total team effort!

Marcus Freeman mentioned this after the game on stage when he said that ND players are just "built different." This couldn't be more true and I give him (and the coaching staff that he's assembled) all of the credit for getting the true RKG's to buy into ND and trust the process!

Let's get one more win!!!

In 9 drives, ND threw for 267 yards. That’s…….a lot. Team had 11 drives total but the two INTs did not complete a pass before the drive ended. Said earlier in the week PSU secondary was overrated and Leonard would have to make plays through the air. Was not the prettiest and Angeli accounted for some of it but it got there by the end

Underrated great part of last night was obviously the stakes were a part of it but you could feel like it get a bit chippy. I think the recruiting crossover was part of it. Bowen was running his mouth a lot lol. He had plenty of words for Allar
