Would ND compete against either of these teams, and win? Go...
Stahp.
Just getting takes from everyone. Something I was thinking about. If we played like we did against LSU, maybe...control the ball/clock, keep the score low, don't expose our D too much.
In October? ND could beat OSU and would give Oregon a game.
Now, lol no.
Next year, I firmly believe we'd beat Oregon and be neck and neck with the Buckeyes.
Midseason ND was comparable to JT Barrett's Ohio State. People forget that Ohio State...
-Lost to Virginia Tech at home.
-Needed 3 horrendous officiating errors that all directly lead to points to beat PSU in double overtime.
-Played Michigan worse than we did.
-Looked reallllly poor against Minnesota, who had a decent team but isn't great.
But this current iteration with Cardale Jones and running the ball with authority would absolutely destroy this current iteration of Notre Dame that can't stop the run. Probably something like 49-24.
Notre Dame was never on par with Oregon this year and would've gotten torched.
No.

Barrett's Ohio State team is better than Jones's honestly. I've seen all of Ohio State's games and that Minnesota game wasn't that close. The thing about Jones is he has a stronger arm but his wideouts are winning the floaters he throws up. I think Ohio State beats Oregon easily tonight. But against Bama he got balied out by a corner back slipping and against Wisconsin Devin Smith was just too athletic for the bad Wisconsin CBs
Really? Easily?
I am hoping for a good game just to have a good game to watch, but IMO if there is an easy win, it's Oregon over OSU.
Mid-season I believe ND could have played either team to a decent game.
I just can't see Oregon beating Ohio State tonight. Devin Smith is too good for the injured Oregon DBS and Pope Urban knows how to stop the spread. 12 gauge is about to shoot some Ducks and Buckeyes win 42-20.
The bigger issue for me is that Oregon is getting disrespected by all the ESPN analyst. No one is picking Oregon to win. I hope they take OSU to the wood shed!
Because ohio state beat big bad Alabama.
It's the Texas a&m thing all over again.
FSU pretty much handed Oregon that win on a silver platter. OSU beat an overrated Bama. I think there are 10 teams in the country that would have pretty similar shot in the championship game as these two.
Oregon wins 42-24
I don't know about ten teams, but I think that TCU was the best team in football this season. Hindsight, it would have been nice seeing them in over Florida State, but with the records as they were it is hard keeping an undefeated out.FSU pretty much handed Oregon that win on a silver platter. Oregon is too efficient; ND would have to play a perfect game offensively to keep up, and I don't think that would happen.
Ohio State's new-found run game behind a young OL (Warriner...) would shred ND. Elliot would pick up chunk after chunk, Jones would deliver some punishment on a few scrambles, and then one of their burner would hit a homerun. Again, ND would have to play a perfect game offensively to keep up, and I don't think it could happen.
I don't think either game would be a blowout... both games would be 40-something to 30-something in favor of Oregon/OSU. A few extra mistakes and ND is blown out; a very clean game and ND would have a shot at an upset.
