In other news, Kobe Bryant was inferior to Michael Jordan.
Lets be fair, Quinn may not have been garbage, but he was no Kobe Bryant either. At best he was like...Tony Kukoc. It's not like the Lakers ever let Kobe go anywhere, but Quinn was let go.

All it takes is the eye test, HH > JQ.

It's more like comparing a Bentley to a Mercedes. Quinn was pretty good, but he could have raised it up a notch.

It's going to be like 2050 and our head coach is going to be a cyborg reincarnation of Rockne and we're *still* going to be talking about Jeff Quinn in this thread.

O’Malley and Prister said they couldn’t really tell anything new technique wise from such a limited view but maybe their pad level looked lower, to kind of compete the blurb there

Low man wins. After seeing our guards and center pushed back into the backfield at times last year it would be nice to see us at least maintain the LOS.

A very exciting next month for the offensive line recruiting group. Got 5 guys coming into town. Jagusah I think has to be close, has a bunch of CB's including a Sinclair CB 8 and hopefully pops on or shortly after his visit in a week. Pendleton's coming in at that time too and from what I gather is a huge Clemson lean but we'll see. Siereveld comes in a few days and seems like an Ohio State lean but has been to ND 3 times and we'll see if ND can pull ahead. Absher and Freeling are spring game guys and I'd love to get them in the class. Freeling shows as a Clemson lean on the ON3 stuff which is interesting. He's been there a bunch of times so it'll be interesting to see if ND can win head to head with Clemson. For Absher he's got some CB's and shows as an ND lean with ON3. For the bottom guys there's Proctor who says he wants to take OV's and do some fall stuff along with Okunlola. Bisontis is not a peep on visits or anything so not sure and Paige won't come until the summer. I hope they can get to 3 spots filled in the spring and then chase hard after Proctor and Okunlola as a BPA in the fall. Maybe they take 2 and do that for the 3rd spot cause numbers aren't really a problem for Hiestand in this cycle.

... and the top three Universities to produce "game ready" {i.e. don't need much if any up-coaching) OLinemen (via a pro coach comments) are on that list (Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Iowa.) I'll now make a "controversial" snarky comment: some/all of those other OLine producing schools don't produce as many game-ready OLinemen are because those linemen, though powerful brutes are not as intelligent as our guys. Talent+Brains+good coaching = a Notre Dame Lineman.

When I look at the current scholarship list, I believe that we've seen enough to be confident that four of those guys will be drafted in their time, and the only reason about four or more are not also so is that we just haven't seen enough. ND's list is so good that it's not a zero probability that the whole crowd might not be ultimately drafted.

We ARE OLineU ... a simple fact.

“Sources have told II, that the plan is that Zeke Correll was so impressive in the spring that they are looking at placing him back in the starting lineup at the center position…and then Jarrett Patterson returning from his injury and playing guard.

SIAP. From Prister on the II podcast.

Who's losing their spot, I wonder? Kristofic or Lugg?

I don’t know why this wasn’t the plan last year.

... because Correll wasn't holding the center pocket line well enough and was getting pushed back too often. That sort of this particularly bothered the Statue QB. If he's doing great now, he must have really worked hard to become Sam Mustipher. (who early had a similar problem.)

BK was primarily looking out for Patterson's draft stock, at least that's what he said before the season started. Obviously part of the equation was Zeke's performance. If Zeke has elevated his performance significantly, then the coach is more likely to make the switch.

“It’s a permanent thing. He’s gonna be our starting center. I think as we looked at a couple of things, one, what’s in the best interest of Jarrett Patterson first, he’s one of the top centers in the country and it’s hard for me to take a player and really put him in a position where it could affect him down the road. He’s done so much for our program. Could we be better served if he played another position? You could make the case. But I think I think my feeling was we’re a good football team with Jarrett Patterson at center, and it helps him in the long run playing that position.” – Brian Kelly

Sampson spoke about Patterson to OG, Correll at center today too.

Prister said “He's accepted the change like a two-time captain” in response to a question today.

So Prister and Sampson seem to think it’s about set that Patterson at guard is the plan to follow up on the podcast blurb from few weeks ago.

... surprising. But if Correll is judged by staff to be better than Kristovic, then we have one helluva OLine plus back-ups.

I think Patterson moving to Guard is a good thing for his draft stock. Proving he can play any interior OL position is huge for him. I am thinking Lugg gets beat out at RG too. Is it confirmed Patterson is playing LG? Would love an interior of Rocco-Correll-Patterson

Alt - Patterson - Zeke - Lugg - Blake
or
Alt - Patterson - Zeke - Rocco - Blake

Either way, this line, with Harry sounds like it is going to be such an improvement. Like weakness-strength in one year turnaround.

HH seems like a new man, so not sure if things have changed….

… but the old HH would start the Sophomore with the NFL-upside over the lower-ceiling upper-class man every time.

In fact, the main gripe with HH from his previous stint is that he seemed to focus on the latest stud he recruited and not really pay attention to or develop the backups. So basically, if you were a 4-5 star and recruited as an OT you were going to play (they may slide you in), if you were a 3-star or recruited as an OG you were not. (There we’re a couple exceptions.)

Now the reality is that the 4-5 star OTs are just better talent, so much of this is just life and sour grapes. If you are a good, but not great, P5 online recruit and want to play, ND is not the safe bet! However, HH sounded like a grumpy perfectionist, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he lacked some patience with the projects and less-talented kids.
