Considering it's a regular season award, it's gotta be a lock at this point, right/

Haha. Joke right?
Quinn gets all the credit.

Mostly yes. Good coaches can leave a lasting impression on a player though. Our TEs trainead under Bernie Parmalee remained very good even after he moved on, wasn't until recently that our TEs began to excel again.

Kind of surprised Alabama isn't higher.

Might have a little to do with SOR/SOS.
Bama IIRC is top 20, while we just made it into the top 70. IIRC, we might have been like 100 or something prior to the Clemson game.

What do we think next years line looks like. Going to be telling for Quinn. This is one of the most veteran lines we’ve ever had

I think that line could be pretty good too, especially if we get Banks and Patterson returning. Definitely a step down from this year's line but still potentially a top 10, top 5 unit if the 3 replacements live up to their potential.

If Banks returns, which I think he will, I feel safe saying the four guys below will be starting.

Aaron Banks, Josh Lugg, Jarrett Patterson, and Zeke Correll.

I don’t know what position each will be starting at, except for Zeke who will be the starting center. And I don’t know who the 5th starter would be; that may be dependent on the position these 4 start at next year.

I imagine it will be:

Banks moves over to LT. Baker and Kristofic duke it out for the backup role.

Lugg slides into the LG spot.

Patterson remains at Center, unless Correll just blows everybody away in spring.

RG, I think it will be Quinn Carroll. I think it'll be between him, Gibbons, Correll and potentially Fisher if he hits the ground running.

RT will be Hainsey. I don't see him leaving early, because he simply isn't getting a ton of NFL draft hype. I think he has a chance to move into the higher rounds and earn a bigger pay raise. If Carroll doesn't win the guard job, I imagine he'll be the primary back-up. If not, Baker or Fisher probably.

Man we have such an embarrassment of riches. I was sitting here thinking about who it could be and maybe Fisher could step in as a true Freshman but I completely forgot about the monster that is Tosh Baker. I think we would have heard a lot from him and his athleticism if we had a traditional training camp this year.

See I’m in the minority and I don’t think Hainsey returns. First of all he wouldn’t be leaving early. If it was not for covid he would be out of eligibility once this season ends. He has basically been a starter for 3.5-4 years. And everyone has to stop thinking that he doesn’t have measurable to play tackle in the NFL. He is not going to play tackle in the NFL and he is not going to get drafted as a tackle. He will be looked at as a guard who in an emergency situation has the flexibility to play RT.

As Sargent Schultz says: "I KNOW NOTHING!!", but I would doubt that Hainsey wants to return for another season, and I think that he will get drafted. Hainsey is a VERY good Olineman. That is NFL Gold.

Look at Mustipher. He was the weakest link on that line albeit an admirable warrior and a very good player. ... there he is in the NFL anyway (as is Bars.) These guys are foundationstones. All teams need the second team lines. Hainsey can play every position.

What Hainsey brings to the table is incredible maturity, smarts, work ethic, and flexibility. Anyone who gets him past the 3rd in the NFL is getting a steal. You can be an above average starter in the NFL at Hainsey's size at tackle, just look at Kelvin Beachum. The fact that ND has produced as much talent at OL as it has and the fact that Hainsey got significant PT as a true freshman should be all NFL Scouts need to know about him.

This is what I posted in Kyren's thread about the O Line next year:

Yeah if the line looks something like

BANKS - NEW - PATTERSON - NEW - LUGG

Then that's still pretty good, and maybe even Gibbons slots in at LG or RG. Then you basically take your pick of Quin Carroll, Carmody, Zeke Correll, Kristofic, Blake Fisher as true freshman.

I think Baker is a tackle, so he wouldn't be in competition for that, though maybe he's on the Ronnie Stanley plan and will play RT then switch to LT.

Would we slide Kristofiic to RT then? And Correll to RG with Lugg at LG?

No idea if they'd put Kristofic at RT. He def had the feet of a tackle in HS, but maybe he'd just be better inside. Lugg is apparently practicing RT and RG so I imagine he stays on the right, so no LG for him.

For all we know, Quinn might move Patterson to Guard and let Zeke Correll play at Center. Does Zeke have the size to play elsewhere?

Zeke is currently 6'3 295, so another year, he could very well get over 300. His ideal position is center, but Correll, at least in HS, showed immense strength despite his lack of elite size. I think next season is the best time to make the transition and move Patterson to Guard, since you're gonna have a new QB most likely anyways.

Sucks to lose a lot of experience from this unit, but yeah, we have an embarrassment of riches in the trenches. I can list off like an easy 6-7 names that can fit into the 3 spots we're presumably leaving vacant and I feel very good about this group going forward.

Hasn't Banks been OL of the week a couple times this season? Would it be that crazy for him to leave?

Not that crazy, but I think a year at LT and he could really solidify himself as a Day 1 draft pick, whereas right now he's probably mid 2-3 (although I think he definitely is worth a First round pick)

Right, and with a chance to prove you can play LT which, let's face it, is where the money is, and that carrot looks mighty tasty.

Although I'm sure Q is about to break the record at the position. I think he should easily pull in 16 Mil/year if not more.

IJY: I don't know what your problem is constantly putting Tommy Kraemer down (his name is Kraemer by the way, not Kramer --- a classic method of disrespect) but whatever it is could you just put a cork in it? CBSSports has an NFL draft prospect list for OLine. Eichenberg is 7th, and Kraemer is 12th. NOBODY but you thinks that he's a mediocrity or gets "tossed around like a rag doll" --- your favorite inaccurately-applied visual. NOBODY on our line gets "tossed around." The other NFL scout comment on Kraemer that I read states: If you come at him with power, you are met with more power than you can handle. The objection to Kraemer is that his lateral movement while pass blocking (which is fine under 90% of the rush types) is a little less quick when there is a late stunt and he sometimes does not shift from his current block to aid against that late blitz soon enough. He and Hainsey are so teamed, though, that they make the normal exchanges pretty flawlessly. I, as I stated long ago here, watched the early games in stop action just for OLine play --- NO ONE GOT TOSSED AROUND, and surely not Kraemer. GET OFF IT.

Of course if this is some sort of weird troll you won't. I'm going to assume that you have something else against him which is an unspoken prejudice.

Is there a place that tracks snap counts for the team?

I'd like to see which of the backup OL have gotten reps during the year, and how many.

Regardless of the potential these guys have, and even if they get a couple of guys to return, next year is going to be a huge transition. It would be cool to see a couple more comfortable wins late in the season to continue building game-speed experience for some of the younger guys.

Looks like Rivals has that, but it is Premium content.
