ND was dominating that game defensively. If FSU had a defense like Oklahoma ND pry would have killed them. FSUs defense is ridiculous.[/QUOTE]

Their D is very very good but I think we have a healthy Cave and Gray, we would have won this game.

Landry Jones is a product of having the best possesion wide reciver of the last 10 years and playing against lackluster Big 12 defenses. I expect him to be much worse this year. Their Running game is very good though, but losing so many Ols will obviously change that. I can't see a blowout either way, It's going to be a 7 point margin either way.

ND lost because we got complacent and stopped sending the blitz. Manuel (surprise!) suddenly had time to throw.

I wouldn't say that their defense was ridiculous. We would've scored more than 7 points on offense with a competent QB and Cave/Gray.

OU still has plenty of talent at the receiver position.

Our greatest hope is that Oklahoma has a game every year where they fall flat on their face.

They still do have talent, but Landry Jones will miss the comfort of Ryan Broyles.

Courtney Gardner was another high-profile recruit Arkansas was pushing, but we didn't get. I think we didn't get him for the same reason.

Don't worry about Oklahoma falling on their face. "Big Game Bob" won't let you down.

Not the standard violation of team rules

DT McGee makes fifth Sooner suspended this offseason - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com News, Scores, Stats, Schedule and BCS Rankings

CBSSports.com wire reports
Aug. 17, 2012 1:44 PM ET

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma defensive tackle Stacy McGee was suspended indefinitely Friday for what coach Bob Stoops called a violation of university policy.

McGee is the fifth Oklahoma player to be suspended during this offseason. Receiver Kameel Jackson was eventually dismissed from the team, while defensive back Quentin Hayes and receivers Jaz Reynolds and Trey Franks have been reinstated to practice but won't be allowed to play in games.

...

McGee has started 17 games over the past three seasons. He played in 12 games last season, starting three times and recording 22 tackles and 1½ sacks.

...

Defensive end David King said coaches approached him at his locker after practice and informed him he'd be moving into McGee's position on a full-time basis for "the first couple games of the season."

...

Stoops said King, who filled in at tackle while McGee and Walker missed time due to injuries last season, is consistently weighing in at 275 to 280 pounds and will be able to slide inside without a problem.

...

McGee had informed his fellow defensive linemen in recent days that he had broken the rules and punishment might be coming. It didn't become official until Friday.

Just was gifted 4 tickets to this game today by some awesome people in my church. I am a youth pastor and live near Tulsa (about 3 hours from Norman). They emailed me today and told me I could have their four tickets!

I grew up in South Bend and am also going to ND/Wake later this year when I go home for Thanksgiving. So pumped!

Oklahoma not looking like #4 in the nation. Absolutely porus offensive line. UTEP should be up 13-7

There was a lot of discussion about Jones and the chemistry with his rebuilt receiving corps. I suspect the lack of coordinated reads, missing the same location, etc results in Jones taking more time with the ball. The OLine was supposed to be a strength.

Steele noted:
with 102 career starts returning, this should be OU's best OLine since '08

If the OLine can't provide him more time, he's vulnerable.

And if that's the case I wish we were playing OU next week rather than Stoops having 8 weeks to work out the kinks.

Steele rated OU with the #2 QB, the #15 RBs, the #10 WRs/TEs, and the #5 OLine.

They lost their starting LT and LG from last year (grad?). The new LT Lane Johnson played RT last year and was a DL the season before.

Dylan Dismuke was a RIvals 4 Star OT that redshirted as a freshman with a knee problem. It apparently never got better and he announced he was medically done with football in Jul '12.

Oklahoma Sooners out, says recruit Matt Beyer, struck with spinal condition - ESPN

Dont know what to think about this. Sounds awful. Good luck to the kid. Some interesting things :

Just last week, Florida State honored its scholarships for offensive lineman Richy Klepal, who had to give up football after suffering his fifth concussion. Doctors revealed that he had a hemorrhage in his brain.

Thursday, California Gov. Jerry Brown announced he signed a bill that will mandate financial protections for student-athletes who suffer career-ending injuries at the four universities that receive more than $10 million annually in sports media revenue -- the Pac-12's USC, UCLA, Cal and Stanford. The schools will have to give academic scholarships to students who lose their athletic scholarships if they are injured while playing their sport. They also will have to cover insurance deductibles and pay health care premiums for low-income athletes, among other provisions.

This kind of makes an athletic scholarship worth more, no?

Kansas State's Bill Snyder is worthy Big 12 praise; Mailbag - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

Check out the second question and Mandel's answer.

At least we aren't the only program with crazy fans with crazy expectations. They want to get rid of Stoops? One NC, four NC game appearances??

I think the most you can ask for is a coach who makes you a serious national championship contender every year, a rebuilding year here or there aside. Stoops has clearly done that. This year, he's been undone by injuries and turmoil on the O-line and poor play from a great QB. Not his fault.

And don't tell me that NC contention is not enough, and you shouldn't be satisfied with your coach unless he has built the kind of powerhouse that Alabama is, so Stoops' run of NC game losses is enough to can him. Sorry, but Saban is not the standard, he's an exception ... that's a great college coach with unlimited support from a football-crazy university, which happens to be a university that is an attractive home to practically any type of recruit: the one who wants hot southern girls and great partying, the one who grew up in the South and wants to stay close to home, the one who wants to play serious football without working hard academically, the one who wants to play serious football while working hard academically, the one who wants to play serious football at a place with great football tradition ... Oklahoma has some of those advantages but not all of them.

Saban-I didn't recruit you to be an Academic All-American! Now give your homework to the nerds we hired and study your playbook! Don't make me take your Escalade away!

I feel this may be accurate but ill italicize anyways.

Not to mention he thinks they can get Harbaugh? This guy is smoking rocks. Harbaugh made it, you can't go up from where he is now. Stoops is such an amazing coach 130 D1A teams would take him over their current coach right now. This is just nonsense.

Even though this schedule looked like a nightmare before the season started I am so happy we have all of these amazing match-ups for us fans! I know it would never happen but there are 6 games on this schedule that are worthy for a College Gameday settings! This Oklahoma game would be a very nice game to have in our pocket for sure!
