I watched a condensed version of their Memphis and UAB games.

It's striking how undersized this Navy defense is even for their standards. What really stood out to me though was the lack of speed. They looked small and slow all over with the exception of Rayaun Lane. I know ND was trying to get him to transfer a year or two ago and I see why. He flies all over the field and has an NFL future.

Keeping Navy off balance defensively will allow ND to move the ball at will. ND can't beat themselves. Leonard doesn't need to hit the bombs. He just needs to be consistently hitting the short and intermediate routes how he has been the last two weeks. This should be a huge day for Love and Price.

On the offensive side of the ball, They are routinely moving in and out of their traditional formation and shotgun. I know you've read that online, but I am saying they will use the same personnel and shift in and out of it. Their whole goal is to get mismatches. I expect some type of trick play to Nathan Kent who nearly qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 400M, but he's easy to jam at the line otherwise. Their QB, as good as he has been, gets a lot of air on his balls that a defense with ND's speed should be able to handle well. What scares me the most about the offense is the wheel routes. I won't be surprised at all if they hit 1 or 2 for big gains on Saturday. They also love reverses or counters. Not a scheme expert, but having a big body staying contained on the back side even after the play looks to be going away from them will be important.

They feel like a paper tiger to me. Memphis was an impressive win, but they looked like a team that was celebrating their "big" Florida State win into the game prep. I am sure I will regret this confidence, but I think this will be a 3+ score game barring ND doesn't beat themselves, which they've been known to do.

This (and Army) is a game where Kiser will come up huge. He ran this offense as a QB all through high school and that will show up once again on Saturday. I’d expect a big game from him.

Given the caliber of the army navy competition so far hope that our speed sir and strength will come as a shock to both teams and remind them that until then they have played a different (much lower) level of competition. I think golden has managed to handle the triple option in the past. We are in a single elimination game every week so freeman needs his guys to be sky high for this game. Navy comes to play.

Any info on Onye? Like seeing more Rubio especially as a run stuffer but I do like Onye’s arm length.

Very thankful to have a connection within the Naval hockey program that was able to get me and five buddies tickets at basically face value for section 106 on Saturday.

Similar seats are going for 5X minimum what we paid for them online currently
Best of luck to you guys trying to find good seats on this current secondary market.

Should be a great weather day for this late in October as well. Could be a tab bit of wind in the second half, but 68 degrees can't beat that.
Go Irish!

The Service Academies are really undersized on the offensive and defensive lines. We should feast.

They really aren't putting small players out there as much as their base defense is a 3-3-5 which is a American Conference staple. Their DL men are around 280 and the DBs are around 190 which are fairly close to standard size., there's just one less big guy on defense.

The LBs are pretty small, especially Ramos (will) at 5-11 206. They play real aggressive and tackle well. We need to get Love and Price out there in space, they won't get caught. Their DLM and DBs are all multi year starters and pretty effective. But I'd like to think even our much maligned OL and WR corps are way better than anyone they've seen so far this year.

Probably helps that he's played against Navy before. ;)

Is anyone concerned remotely about this game after ND shut down GT so badly? I would think of the two, GT would have the far superior athletes and runs the same option game. If ND could do that to GT, shouldnt it be worse vs Navy?

Did you get transported back to 2015 and the Paul Johnson era? GT doesn't run the option anymore lol

Golden year one struggled after we got the lead. Golden year 2 said I got you figured out. Golden year 3 is going to be like year 2.

Yeah yeah yeah. The issue for me is the kids sports all Saturday AM. Though I suppose it’s true there’s no particular reason I couldn’t tailgate and blare the fight song at a Catholic school’s ninth-grade soccer game.
Will make it easier for a priest or 4 to join you.

My boys soccer game is at 1045. Already have the tailgate set up. Nothing makes a 7 year olds soccer game more enjoyable than Jack and coke and a plate of nachos.

I hear ya. Back in the day, we had five playing sports and none of them were ever on the same team, so Saturdays were crazy.
