You guys aren't seeing my point. He was on a 'no drink', meaning, if he was caught drinking this year, he KNEW it would cost him his job.
He went to BYU, making the situation even more bizarre.

You are never warned ahead of time when a terrible accident like drunk driving happens... You aren't told 'this is the one that will do it'. My point is he knew it was his final straw, and still proceeded, which is what I find surprising. Drunk drivers don't know it's their next drive that will cost someone their life.
There's no way I win this so I'm going to leave after this, but I hope you guys understand the difference I'm pointing out.
You clearly have no idea.what you are talking about. It is a very devastating condition that is DEFINED by an inability to stop.....

And you clearly don't see my point. I'm not talking about ability/disability to stop. I'm saying when you know if you do it it's going to cost you (which Sark was told), I imagine the thought process is different than when the person thinks the next time is 'no big deal' because they've done what they're about to do 100s of times. You're not warned when you next get in the vehicle that this will be that time. If people who did drink and drive knew that, they probably wouldn't have drove that night. Sark decided to drive knowing he'd get it this time. And he couldn't stop, which is what's surprising to me. This is all about the difference of knowing your consequence is imminent, and thinking you can get away with it like any other time. I don't know how I can make my distinction more clear.
This is word vomit. Your point is that you are surprised an alcoholic drank when he was told not to? Seriously?
It's not that he was told not to. Everyone with a drinkING problem is told not to. My point is that he had the for sight to know that his next time would be his demise, and still chose to. Most alcoholics do not think their next time will be the one that causes disaster. So I assume it's a very different frame of mind when you know you'll get it next time, vs thinking next time will be no big deal. Yes, it surprises me that he couldn't hold off at least until the off season when he knew it'd cost him millions. If people who get in accidents knew that was the night, I very much assume most would have also held off.

No point in debating this anymore since we clearly don't agree.
I am surprised that you don't get what it means to have an addiction. The point is that he can't simply "hold off" until the offseason... his body likely has a physical dependency on alcohol. Not so fun fact, I believe alcohol is the only substance where addicts physically need the drug to survive. In other words, severe alcoholics will literally die if they don't drink.
If it goes this far back, Haden had to know this wasn't just a one time slip up. I always thought of him as a decent person who wanted USC to run cleanly. Any chance he gets bif heat for this? Maybe it'll depend on who he can hire.
Did Sark go to USC? I vaguely remember his playing days and thought he played elsewhere. I could be wrong.
You're right, BYU. For some reason I thought he was a trojan.
He went to BYU, making the situation even more bizarre.
Sorry if 'i missed this but Sark went to SC as a baseball player originally and left his freshman year for a juco, then went to BYU for football.
His situation is far less dire than most alcoholics. He isn't losing a family, life, etc.[/B] He's losing a job that he already has made enough doing to retire ten times over. I'm sure the "consequences" of having a drinking problem don't apply to him right now like they do the average guy, and that helped him continue to make poor choices.

I wonder if he lost his team, cause let's be honest he was a joke, if wasted this often....I am worried the kids rally and come in blazing this weekend!
I just saw two lines with ND -4
