Anyone else listening to Kelly? H e sounds like an idiot. 2 good things about this game. An ugly ugly ugly win and KW. Other than that this was a complete shit show.

Yep, same stuff different day. I think Kelly is a good coach, and ND has been fun to watch at times during the last few years. But Kelly won’t be the coach to get us there. I’d argue that with the talent on this team and the last few years were good enough. Just not coached at an elite level.

No team should be overlooked this year! This game proved that we are overrated in the rankings!! We sure don't look like the #4 team in the country.

Louisville is definitely a better team than their record shows, but I also feel like they're the next Pitt. They relish the spoiler role, both times we've played them they play above their status and sell out.

A win is a win.
Considering they only conceded 7 points I feel surprisingly low about the defense.

Defense played borderline great but pass rush is still under suspicion. Optics of 20-7 a lot better than this utterly embarrassing offensive output. TG nine of those Book passes are intercepted.. time for a heart to heart with Book and Tommy. Overall horrible offensive scared ply not lose lose second half.

Winning is hard for you Kelly but everyone else has mopped up this Louisville D. No game balls for anyone on offense except Kyren.

Oh everybody gives us their best and we are at a disadvantage because of our high standards. Give me a break. Eno Go of that cop out schitt.

Anyone want to debate the Phil vs Book issue after this game?

Not even Books mom would side with him. I am literally ready for Darren Clark and if he Schitts the bed then we can bring in Book to see what he can do? Does Clark not get more than 12 points today? Does Phil, does BRANDON?! In all the games that Book has started and won name one of them Brandon Wimbush wouldn’t have won?

That game had fluke win written all over it and this is almost as bad as a loss but just by a hair.

How many sacks today? How many throws past 5 yards completed? C’mon Man!

Highlights?! What highlights?!

So far he hasn't produced a QB that can help get us there. We don't need a Trever Lawerence but we need much better than Book. And someone that can throw more than 15 yards down the field.

You know what, fuck it. They always have a head scratching game at home, then get their shit together. They're going to be fine. Let's get Pitt.

Book is holding the team back. I feel we are close to championship caliber, but QB is our big limiting factor.

Book being interviewed on NBC. He should have owned up to playing like schitt because he did. While I don’t want him to throw ints he doesn’t give his guys a chance and does not have the arm or the balls to make the throws. He plays afraid unless they are behind and even then I’m not sure. I fell bad that our other RBs get no chance at playing today. Tyren definitely better than Tyree but would like to see Jafar in for some pass catching ability and even C bo. Hard to complain too much about a D that gives up 7 and nothing even close after that to a decent O with a better than average (and certainly better than Book) QB and tackling was improved for sure but basically zero pressure on the QB who didn’t even have to run for his life’s once. No holding calls etc. D against the run was almost awesome but allowed some first downs on third down run plays which disappointed. It’s all about Book and this guy who thinks he’s the BMOC as if he is anime Namath ain’t schitt. He has no business being up there with Clausen and Quinn although Rees is up there so I guess those records mean pretty much nothing.

We have a playoff albeit not championship defense but we don’t have a QB or threatening passing game. We have elite TEs and good WRs and a good Oline so what is missing? Gee I wonder? Book is a backup at most schools. Tell me a power 5 school where he starts? Remember Book has everything any QB could want around him and continues to lay a goose egg. F Kelly for driving who is clearly a superior QB into the arms of our opponent this year.

When we get rolled by Clemson if we don’t get rolled first at least we get to see Clark so we know if Tyler is the automatic guy next year or not.

You can’t tell me that Clark isn’t on the sideline shaking his head about being able to do better?!

Give me a break. Even that little guy is thinking it..

We win.
Defense was great (shut them out three of four quarters.)
We rushed for exactly five yards per rush and greater than 200 yards (pretty damm good). Coach Dungey and I both wondered why we didn't do that to death.

Still waiting for a consistent pass receiver of any sort.
Tommy needs to vary the running game into an entire crazy inventive run playbook. Unless we get receivers who can separate vs real defensive speed, we need to run normal, run abnormal, and run totally crazy. That includes Book.

We are 4-0 and can take care of things as they come. Two of the three teams ahead of us will be still undefeated after tonight. One will not. If UNC looks good, jump or not we can handle that later. We're still where we need to be --- looking good vs Clemson still defines the season.

What are the chances we look good against Clemson? Maybe Clemson will underestimate us but I think they use that game to beat us the way Miami embarrassed us under the helpless Faust. All I know is if Book doesn’t throw within his first 3 seconds he either runs for a small gain or takes a sack. Those evened out today but fortunately he made one of his 3-4 decent plays with that run. He makes wr look bad.

Your takes are awful. First off, there was never going to be a strong passing attack with the wind today. Second, our WRs are not where they need to be. After his first big game last week, McKinley couldn't win in any one on one situations today. Our leading receivers for the season are TEs and Kyren, when in previous seasons it was WRs like Claypool, Finke, Boykin, etc. Obviously Book has hit receivers fine in the past, but coming into this season our WRs all graduated/drafted and no one has consistently stepped up outside the TEs and Kyren. That WR position group needs to grow up and step up.

Book will never have the clout or popularity that Quinn or Clausen had, but he's on track or has surpassed them in wins. He plays better than he gets credit for, this game called for a heavy run attack given the weather, and Book stepped up when we needed him to. His TD run put us up, he sold out for that, and his passing down the stretch was just enough to get us first downs to run out the clock and end the game. 4-5 years ago we don't run out that clock and we end up giving Louisville a shot at winning the game. Get down from the ledge. It wasn't a great game, but Book did what we needed today given the conditions.

I’m so over Ian Book and the piss poor passing game! Hopefully the next QB is the one but given BK’s track record, I doubt it. FYI, how in the F is Phil at BC and not starting at ND? It’s literally mind blowing!

From Carter Karels of SBT:

All of #NotreDame's wide receivers combined through four games this season: 23 catches, 259 yards, 2 TDs.

Chase Claypool through four games last season: 21 catches, 286 yards, 1 TD.

Big game for Phil tonight on the road as an underdog. While I think Phil has already done enough to make us clearly realize letting him go was a mistake tonight could be an exclamation point to that point. Spilled milk but we will see if Phil shows up big at home against us. We probably sack him 5-6 times but he throws it all over on us and Kelly has to eat a schitt samich over his handling of the better QB. His throwing motion in the BG game was bizarre but it looks normal, string and accurate now.

Allowing only 7 points to this talented Louisville offense is impressive as much as people want to ignore that.

This is very true and should not go unnoticed b/c Cunningham played his best game of the season thus far. He was very efficient passing & made some plays with his wheels. He & his offense protected the ball...zero turnovers.

Remember ND still doesn’t have MTA or Kiser up to the point of playing major snaps. Hopefully, they both return next week.

I feel like that’s getting overlooked big time. This game could have easily been a 30-7 type game. It is what it is. ND is a top 10-15 team and needs to catch breaks to beat the big boys.

I will eat crow when he has a game worthy of leading a team that is better than he is. He has been here 4-5 years now and is no better than his first start against UNC. I doubt your opinion will prevail for Ian until he puts us on his back in a big game. He will have that chance at home but I doubt we will still be undefeated by then. If we are I don’t think it will be because of him. We/he played scared in the second half but apparently Kelly doesn’t trust putting the ball in his hands if he doesn’t have to.

I would love to eat crow frankly but I’m doubtful it will be on the menu anytime soon.

The mere mention of him as a Heisman candidate is and was absurd.
