FWIW, I did not say he’s not a good QB. And said the entire time I expect to learn from this.

Yes, he made some throws late. But this game is different if hits/or sees some of those throws early.

Fuck Michigan

yup!
cheers...

Fuck Michigan, but painfully happy they won tonight.

Yeah, Book had a rough game, but that pass to Boykin for the TD was baller-style.

To the "Pitt always plays us tough" crowd:

How many times has this 2018 ND team played Pitt? This is Kelly's best team, period. Much better 22 (and bench) players overall.

I'm absolutely predicting a 3 or more score win.

This game doesn't scare me...... And that scares me.

Was really surprised they beat cuse yesterday though

Just like last week for me...Zero worries.

ZERO

I don’t think we’ll struggle in this game, but I think it’s not quite true that the blue bloods don’t seem to struggle ever with teams they should easily beat. Look at Clemson/Syracuse or last year with OSU getting creamed by a pretty average Iowa team. There are other examples, even the all powerful Bama has struggled (not as much as other teams admittedly) when they are expected to dominate. The best you can hope for with 18-23 yr olds is that they stay focused and take nobody lightly. If they do that, crazy things can happen.

For the record I believe this’ll be a pretty easy win. If forced to wager, I’d lay the points

Watch out now-this is a rivalry to these guys

Always has been.

I remember back in 2015 Tyler Boyd talked some trash about the Irish and having this game circled on their calendar each year. I told him that's old news for the Irish, but it's a shame no one has Pitt circled on their calendar.

This game shouldn’t scare one single ND fan but b/c of that crazy history, ND fans will probably have to stomach a frustrating first half before ND pulls away. CFB is absolutely nuts.

Everything I’ve read has CBK saying all the right things in regards to this match up. Now it’s a matter of a bunch of 18-22 year olds executing the game plan.

Wasn't that a huge rivalry at the time though?

While Pitt was a national power in early part of the 20th century (8 claimed NCs from 1915-1937), they were only a true national power from the late 70s to early 80s under Johnny Majors & then Jackie Sherrill. Majors led them to a natty in 1976 & Sherrill led them to three straight 1-loss seasons.

Since then they’re impact in the world of CFB has been as an underdog known for ruining perfect seasons &/or National Champion bids.

Honestly I'm not worried about Pitt at all I think we put up close to 50. They might score close to 30 if we decide to play a lot of 3rd stringers by the 4th, but this game will be over by midway in the 3rd. Their entire offense is built on running the ball and their horrible at passing. Our strength is stopping the run, wouldn't be surprised if you see us end up with a team high for sacks or TFL on the year

Most years past, I'd worry about Pitt. Not this year, Pitt is hot garbage. Losing their starting middle linebacker only makes matters worse. ND -20.5 is the play of the week....With Va Tech -5.5 right behind them.

I don't care how Pitt is playing this year, they almost always get up for this game. I'll worry about Pitt until I don't have to worry about Pitt.

Geez, I go out of town to attend a special mass (My uncle was just ordained a bishop and he came back to our hometown to say mass), and some of ya'll swear Pitt is hot garbage this season...despite our warnings....and look what happens! Let that be a lesson to the doubters, Pitt does not like us and they almost always come to play no matter what the records are.

your uncle obviously did not say enough prayers for ND. is he from Pitt?

Hey man, I live in Atlanta (Roswell) and Western PA (New Castle) is my home also. Where are you at in GA?

Retired to Calhoun great city owned golf course- I new how this game would go and finding out about mid terms even made more sense-win and move on.

Crazy story but, I believe it to be true. This team has a bunch of dogs on it. And quite frankly that is what 2012 had as well. We got dudes that will not let it go.

They want to end with a CFP, and that’s what they started for from beginning. Kareem, Tranquill, Coney, Tillery, etc. They are going to finish what they started. I think they believe that. And that’s the part of the being the greatness

I'm just terrified that Alabama is so much better than everyone else this year....I honestly think this year's Notre Dame would beat 2012 Alabama by 10-14 points. The year Notre Dame friggin' rocks is the year that Bama might be legendary...ugh.

Is this *after* Northwestern’s win today?
I’m still worried about them as our upset game

It was a graphic on the post game analysis. NW's game ended before ours but there was no discussion when the probabilities were calculated nor when the graphic was produced. Obviously it was before Southern Cal made stew of the Buffs.

With the meager "running game" we produced any one of those teams is a threat for an upset. No one in the ND fan world would have predicted Book to be the leading ND rusher, especially considering the lost yardage to sacks. Wimbush, yes. Book never.

Our RBs couldn't move the ball. Deducting Book's, Finke's, and The Team yards, (including Book's longest rush for ND) leaves the ND RBs with 43 yards on 17 carries, or 2.5 ypc. Our 9 yard/carry, All-World, RB averaged a paltry 2.4 ypc despite our OJT QB hitting 26 passes for 264 yds.

Notre Dame
HTML:
Rushing CAR	YDS	TD	LONG
William	13	31	0	13
Book	16	31	0	22
Jones	4	12	0	7
Finke	2	10	0	8
Team	3	-4	0	0
TEAM	38	80	0	22

I think Northwestern will be just as stressfull after factoring in how poorly ND plays the week after Navy.

I don’t know what to think about the Syracuse game but Pete Sampson mentinoed the Karma factor after ND moved one of their home games to a neutral site in the same state as their opponent.

Pitt now controls their destiny in the ACC.

If they win out out against Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Miami they are playing for the conference championship.

In their last 4 games, they beat #19 Syracuse, #25 UVA, and Duke. And they barely lost @ #3 Notre Dame. It's too bad they started off the year like garbage, because it looks like they're turning the corner and playing like a good team. Probably finish the year 7-5 on account of playing UCF, Penn State, and Notre Dame out of conference instead of cupcakes.

Pittsburgh has turned into a damn good football team. Their last 5 games are stark contrast to how they opened the season.

Pitt's improved enough over the season to change the result of the UNC game but not enough to turn the 7 TD loss to PSU nor the 4 TD loss to UCF into wins. The margin of loss might be less but they'd still be losses. Pitt would be 6-3 instead of 5-4.

They have a good win versus Syracuse but then who ... Duke?

IDK. I'd probably take Pitt over PSU if they played tomorrow given the direction both teams have taken. Pitt had like 5 or 6 turnovers that game. Pitt RBs have really come a long way. Pickett also had a really really bad game vs PSU.

I agree that if they played next week I would take Pitt.

Plus wasn’t that game like tied are within one score at half time.

By the end of the season we should have played like what, 6 or 7 bowl eligible teams? Curious (not knocking them or saying they haven't, just curious) how that stacks up against other top 10 teams.

Dude has some serious issues. He just wants a sound bite. I now hope Clemson Kills them and we get Clemson 1st round.

Funny thing is he badly wanted the ND job in 2016 when we were 4-8. Still salty, I guess.

What was the context?

Does he just mean beating UCF gets you no respect anyway? It feels like a lose lose proposition to play them for sure.
