Anyone know if they are wearing green jerseys for this game?

Last year was senior night, but this year they are wearing those jerseys with touches form '88.

I hope this isn’t one of those games where we play down to our competition. It’s time to dominate them!

I didn’t say they wouldn’t have an impact. I said it will be difficult to get to the QB based on their offensive scheme which is to get the ball out quickly. As you say, hopefully the inexperience of Slovis leads to rushed & ill-advised throws. Turnovers have killed SC and they’ve been attributed to both inexperienced QBs.

Georgia was able to scheme around ND’s elite edge rushers...plus they have a high IQ quarterback in Fromm who is rarely rattled.

The safeties are going to have to play better than they did last week where they struggled w/ missed tackles. Hopefully that’s an anomaly as both are veteran heady players who know where to be.

ND should be the best defense that SC has faced or will face

No "should" about it. Notre Dame IS the best defense SC has faced, by a pretty huge margin I would say.

Key issue with Washington and Utah (the two defenses I would say are closest to ND) is that each have some major flaws. Washington doesn't possess the kind of pass rushing threat that ND has, nor are they that strong up front in general. They have seriously fallen off since the days of Vita Vea, Joe Mathis, Greg Gaines and Azeem Victor.

Utah has some major beef up front, but they aren't overly athletic. That is definitely apparent in the secondary, because they looked completely lost against USC.

ND is just better across the board. They may not have the sheer size up front that Utah has, but they are way more disruptive and athletic at every level.

I'm not too worried about the safeties. Gilman and Elliott are gamers, who tend to rise to the occasion.

I love this game, because we get to play this psycho. Keep him out the endzone, Lea.

Add it to the board.

I was like "lol it won't be that cold yet" and then I looked at the forecast and saw it will be 42 degrees on Saturday night. These guys wont be as soft as FSU or Miami, but the cold certainly doesn't hurt ND's chances.

The only time I recall cold weather playing a factor was in the 2010 Sun Bowl vs Miami. ND players came out in shorts & t-shirts while Miami was bundled up from head to toe.

I’ve yet to see it play a factor in ND Stadium. I think it gets blown out of proportion in most cases. It is interesting that Slovis is an Arizona kid so maybe this could be the game where we see it adversely affect the opponent.

It's in the 30's or 40's everyday here from Nov - Feb. This ain't South Beach.

I'll take it.

It was cold as crap last year against FSU. IIRC it was in the upper 20's. I remember watching FSU warm up and they looked like they didn't want to be there. I believe you are correct though. It's not that often that the weather is that crappy in November.

It’s supposed to rain in the morning, other than that it’s supposed to be clear of any precipitation on Saturday.

But the weather definitely played a factor in the FSU game last season. That was probably the coldest home game since BYU 2013.

It’s easy for players to say “the weather won’t be a factor” until they actually go out and play in it. The ball gets harder and it hurts to get tackled. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that most southern schools try to stay away from the north after September.

Will the temps play a roll on Saturday? If Notre Dame can get up a couple scores early then I think it can.

I went to the ND vs asu game a few years back, it was in Nov. It was in the 60's when we left Vegas and 85 degrees in Tempe. It felt like hell sitting in those stands with no shade and this was mid Nov

Slovis is a freshman, so it will be interesting ti see how he handles a prime time road game in a loud environment. Looks like they also get Safety Hufanga and CB Griffin back.

What I want to see in this game is more Book on the run, i.e. more bootleg, option run, and designed running plays - early / 1st and 2nd drives.

I feel like this is all we've seen this year sans BGSU...

We need to dominate them in the trenches. That's where we should have our (only?) advantages in this game. That and QB, although Slovis has looked better than Book in certain games.

If the weather helps us great, but ND needs to win this in the trenches. And they should.

I think their WRs, St Brown in particular, are going to play with their hair on fire. Same with Marquis Stepp.

And their stud safety is back.

My dad was at that game! He was a '70 ND grad living down in LA at the time, he said he was so shell shocked after that game his (now ex) wife had to lead them out to his car as everyone in the parking lot blasted the USC fight song on their car horns.

Are you talking about the '74 game? I don't know that it's ever been publicized but ND had a huge locker room brawl at halftime in that game.

I think the only advantage USC has is at receiver. USC might have a stud safety, but we have 3.

It was in the 90's that day (Nov 8) My buddy's watch read 101 at one point sitting in the sun. My buddies from Chicago / Indiana that flew out got roasted. But the 7am tee times were in the 40's in Fountain Hills. Typical desert weather.

I'd love to see us jump a short route early like Love did at Michigan State a few years back. I definitely don't want to see us sit back an entire first half like last year's game. Man, the juices are starting to flow for this game, especially with SCum running their mouths.
