Not that I think the Purdue game will be close at all (even though it's an 8:00pm away game in a fairly formidable environment), but will Robert Marve's connection to the Miami implications have an impact here?

A knee problem (the non-ACL knee) probably has more impact as TerBush was reported on 8/15 to have moved ahead of Marve due to the injury.

Marve's injury puts TerBush in Purdue QB rotation | Journal and Courier | jconline.com

Another article on a Boiler site, boilerstation, quotes two NCAA Compliance experts (not internet hacks) that stated PU would be at risk if they played him. PU had put out a glib release that had noted the NCAA had no eligibility issues with Marve. They neglected to mention that the NCAA investigation is ongoing and the NCAA hasn't ruled on anybody eligibility one way or the other. Should PU play him and the NCAA later rules him ineligibile PU would have subject to forfeiting those games. One of the experts and attorney dealing with such cases noted;

"At that point they're (PU) going to have to look at the information, review it and make the best decision for their program," Sievert said. "It's unfortunate for Marve if he didn't do anything wrong that they might not play him this season.

I'm a sophomore at purdue. Obviously a huge ND fan..

But I can't describe the amount of sympathy I have for purdue fans... this acl thing is getting ridiculous.

Purdue fans at least act like they're going to be relevant someday, which is annoying. It's what separates them from Indiana fans who could give a crap because they're cognizant of the fact that they should just wait until basketball season.

Deja vu all over again

Deja vu all over again

Purdue QB Rob Henry tears ACL in right knee - Yahoo! News

... Purdue announced Wednesday that quarterback Rob Henry had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during practice a day earlier.
School officials did not say how much time they expect Henry to miss pending more tests.
Just last fall, Henry took over the offense when starting quarterback Robert Marve tore the ACL in his left knee. ...
His absence could open the door for Marve, the transfer from Miami, to reclaim the starting job. But it's unclear whether Marve is 100 percent just yet.
Marve bruised his left knee Sept. 18 against Ball State, was cleared to play and then tore his ACL the following week against Toledo.
...
"It's been a lot of rehab," Marve said earlier this month. "It's been a lot of time focusing on my knee, trying to get quads and my hamstrings strong again around my joints. I'm still fighting the battle a little bit."
Henry finished the year 86 of 162 with 996 yards, eight TD passes and seven interceptions. He also had 104 carries for a team-high 547 yards and four TDs, becoming the first quarterback in school history to lead the team in both passing and rushing.
..
In 2008, Marve started 11 games for the Hurricanes and was 116 of 213 passes with nine TDs and 13 interceptions. He sat out in 2009, after transferring to Purdue, but tore the ACL in his left knee. He finally earned the Boilermakers starting job last year, but didn't even make it through four full games before tearing the ACL again.
..
If Marve isn't completely healthy, the Boilermakers may turn to sophomore Sean Robinson or junior Caleb TerBush, who was academically ineligible last season.
Robinson started one game as a freshman but didn't look comfortable against Wisconsin. He was 41 of 91 for 301 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions in 2010.

I will never feel sorry for Purdue. Sorry but being from Indy there is no way in hell. Next man in approach if they can even do it.

As a Junior at Purdue, I want Notre Dame to crush purdue. People down here think that beating a division 2 school 59-0 proves how good a team they have. Other than Ricardo Allen (#21, CB) they don't have a playmaker anywhere on the field. Carson Wiggs can boot it from Indy but can't hit the gimme's. I will dawning my Tommy "Big Game" Rees jersey next Saturday night in Ross-Ade. I'm looking forward to celebrating a huge Irish victory!
Go Irish!

I was at their game this weekend because my brother goes to Purdue. Their offense was based almost entirely off of running the ball and screen passes.

Their base offense is the screen pass and running to the short side of the field. I've been watching them for 2+ years, and I've seen them run to the wide side of the field a handful of times. Very predictable offensively. Defense is spotty up front, give up yards and easy reads over the middle. Ricardo Allen is a star in the making. Don't defend the run well, and we should have Theo, Eif, TJ and Cierre having a huge night

I would normally be really confident in this game, but with the way we've been playing, nothing is a given.

I believe that Kelly can get this offense on the right track. I thought Kelly did a good job with Rees in the second half, he told him "If their is nothing there, get rid of it". Thats what Reese did in the second half and he had no turnovers in the second half. If he continues to do that then our turnovers will go down by a lot. I really like our defense and I think they will come ready to play week in and week out

I am expecting another close one as long as Rees is the QB. Then again Purdue might have the weakest defensive front 7's we will be playing all year so possibly big day for Cierre and Jonas

A lot of people on this board dont like Rees. Hopefully Rees has a breakout game to prove everyone he can play. Pitt's front 7 put some serious pressure on him today.

As long as Rees is QB he is going to turn the ball over. You can count on both hands how many good throws he made. If Kelly has been able to help him fix that by now what makes you think that he can. We just played the next to worse secondary in ALL of college football and had our worse passing attack of the year. And until Rees starts using all his recivers we will continue to struggle. But when you lock on to one guy thats what happens. I don't think this team is a close to being as good as i thought at the begining of the season. This game is going to be alot closer then many think. And if we could blow out this pathetic Pitt team look out.

What made Pitt pathetic? Sometimes stats dont say everything. Look at our offensive stats, it looks like we should be 4-0 but we aren't. Pitt played a good game today and they got a lot of pressure. I dont care who you are, if you are faced with pressure you will not have good day of passing the ball. Tommy Rees didnt look for one receiver today, he spread out and Eifert, Riddick, and Jones did what they could while Reese was being pressured. Once we figure out the offense...look out.

This is true after the first quarter
