Dabo having a mental breakdown… will be interesting to see how they respond and is ND ready to put it to them

On one hand, I see Clemson winning this game. ND has not played well on the road this year.

On the other hand, Clemson seems broken and their issues may be too much to overcome against ND, who's coming off back to back solid games.

True toss up for me.

24-20 ND.

I’m much more worried if this is a night game. It’s noon and the Clemson fan base is checked out.

I’ll be stunned if Clemson is able to move the ball effectively with the way the defense has been playing, especially being without their top OL, RB, and a starting receiver. Step on Dabo’s throat

I feel like every game is a “test” for Marcus at this point.

Last week’s test was “Beat down a rival convincingly who is down bad at home.” This week’s test is “Beat down a recent power who is down bad on the road.” The staff and players need to smell blood, here.

I’m always team #JustWinBaby…but man this feels like one we should win by a couple scores.

Agreed. The atmosphere will be far less hostile and loud. Dabo is in desperate mode, clearly by the phone call interaction that is a national story. I only see us losing if our offense stalls which has occurred some this year. Other receivers really need to step up. Where has Greathouse been since the beginning of the season? Suppose it's the hammy but jut odd he's kind of disappeared.

No he’s not. And he’s not “soft”
either.

Maybe you should read or listen to the ENTIRE exchange.

Dabo was 100% right.

Dabo laid down facts, like Clemson is one of only three teams in 150 years to win 10 games for 12 straight years.
And Clemson won 1 title in 35 years then 2 in 7 years under him.
And he was the lowest paid coach who worked his way up to his paycheck.

I love how cowards think it’s cool to call someone out, but when the that person calls their bluff & returns fire, they are “soft.”

Your logic:
Idiot loser makes idiot call.
Cool.
Successful, rich, winner, sets him straight. Soft.

Dabo didn’t go looking for that loser, that loser called him.
Dabo just put him back at the kiddie table were losers belong.

His statement about acceptance versus expectation was funny. He rattled off all his accomplishments you speak of and then gets mad at fans expecting to win versus accepting off years. I can’t imagine Day or Saban or Smart telling their fans and donors to go back to the kids table and accept how good they have had it ( meaning look at what I did for you. Stfu and get off my back)

He also blames the fan(s) as being part of the problem. A few times. Wrong. Like the fans are game planning or recruiting or managing the roster or impacting any game they play in any way. Dabo says the losses are on him and then blames the fans for expecting versus accepting and says they are part of the problem. 😂

“You can have all your opinions you want. I don’t know how old you are, don’t really care. But let me tell you something, we won 11 games last year and you’re part of the problem.”

Clemsons issues this year are truly down to not using the portal and NIL. They haven’t done well on either and it shows. I don’t think they will have the success in NiL other larger schools will have but they absolutely could do better in the portal but that also is tied to NIl to an extent.

“But I’m the head coach and I’m going to do what I believe is right for the long term of this program, what’s best for the players, and what I think’s best for the moment. If you got a problem with that, that’s fine, but I’m not gonna see you sit here and let you call in. I don’t give a crap how much money I make. You ain’t gonna talk to me like I’m 12 years old. You’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me.” -all the while taking to this caller like he is a twelve year old kid.

Are we supposed to believe that a school that ALLEGEDLY used a church to funnel funds for recruits won't play the NIL game? Something doesn't add up.

I have zero trust in the offense to think they'll be able to move the ball on Clemson. I'll hope for a close win but in my true nature will expect the worst

Dabo doesn't give a crap about how much money he makes, but he definitely cares about any money anyone else besides him might get.

Keep him. Hope ND absolutely kicks his ass.

I love laying down facts that have nothing to do with the question. It's called deflection

"Dabo, you and your team suck right now, care to explain?"

"Look at the last 12 years, don't be entitled, appreciate me, don't have high expectations, appreciate me. Blah blah blah. "

He couldn't even talk about this year, when the question was about this year. That's soft. He couldn't explain the issues the team is having other than clemson fans have moved from appreciation to having too high of expectations.

Only thing I agree with is he doesn't have to justify his salary. He doesn't have to justify anything to fans but he has the radio show for publicity, and it was probably awesome for 12 years, now team is struggling, and he expects it to be awesome for him. nope. Grow a pair, and don't go on a rant because some random clemson fan is ticked the team isn't good this year.

If you can't be criticized when you do bad, then you can't be celebrated when you do great.

When I read that, my first thought was, "Is that Putup asking the question to Dabo"?
Question is valid if you take away the salary part. I'm a firm believer you are paid what you deserve. Don't care about the salary, care about the results of ND coaches.

I'm concerned about this game. Their D has talent. Noon kickoff (probably neutralizes their fans, but we also might be sleepy).
I'd be in the team's ear all week that this is their change to do to us what we did to them last year. We need to be ready. I fully expect a battle.

It was basically valid and good question, just a douchey way of asking.

Doesn't take much for Billy Baby to show his ass, tho.

No matter what Clemson’s record is, this game has been circled since the end of last season and was considered one of the 3 big games for Notre Dame. I’d be shocked if ND came out sleepy.

I mean the fan can ask whatever he wants. He probably lies about taking a recruiting trip to Clemson and playing CB somewhere in the ACC. This basically makes him an expert. We have no one like that here thankfully.

Oh, and Irish by 3 TDs.

Couple of things concern me about this game:

Dabo is angry. He tends to do well when he is angry.

Revenge factor from last year's game. Clemson is 7-7 since ND took it to them. They are going to want redemption.

They do still have a very good defense.

On the other hand:

Klubnik has been a bit of a mess

No Shipley (most likely)

Their WR group may be worse than ND's group

If we can score early on them and take the lead that crowd is gonna get ugly. I think Clemson quits if they get down by 10+.

The best unit on the field, by far, will be the ND defense. Defense travels well.

The problem is when you play a team that’s in desperate mode you always have to be careful and on top of it you are on the road where we haven’t played our best ball.

These game you really have to be careful of the trick plays and all the special teams alignments and fakes. They will be preaching how big of a win this will be.

I believe our defense will be fine but you can’t keep depending on them and special teams to keep providing 14-21 points a week. I don’t have much faith in Parker and his play design.

I think we win but it’s because Golden and company put the offense is absolutely perfect situations.

There's a stat floating around in one of the threads that he isn't playing the slot anymore and that Sam throws most of his passes there.

I know we all want this but it's been awhile, our offense needs to come ready and score early. Taking the crowd out early I think could break their back knowing this ND teams is good.

Our offense has started out very slow vs NC State, OSU, Duke (scored first drive due to fake punt), louisville, and Pitt. We scored a bunch first half vs USC mostly due to our Defense giving us a very short field.

a win for them would be equally, if not more cathartic as ND's win over USC. It makes them quite dangerous IMO. ND gotta get on them early and keep the foot down on the pedal

Clemson rolls up a decent number of yards on offense but it's been undone by poor red zone play and turnovers. If they have good luck/execution on those fronts they are a dangerous team.

Clemson is 21st in overall SP+, the game is on the road, and Clemson has probably been looking forward to this game since fall camp. ND should win but I'm expecting a fight.

Going to get the same look... loaded box to stop the run. Force us to execute one on one matchups in the passing game. Hopefully no counters on third and short... or corner routes when the middle of the field is wide open when the defense is playing man coverage...

I think after the UL loss, fans were worried about the rest of the season. Then ND spanked their rival who came to town undefeated w/ a Heisman winning QB who pantsed ND’s defense last year in LA. After SC continued to struggle post-beat down & Duke losing to UL & FSU, fans realized the Irish likely won’t have any ranked wins by season’s end. Fast forward to a wounded Clemson team who is being told their coach & program are now horrible despite having talent, ND fans (well at least me) are not expecting the Tigers to lay down and let the Irish have their way with them. Anything less than 10-2 is a disappointment & while I believe ND is the better team on paper than the 3 remaining opponents, shit happens in CFB that can turn a game on its head. Just look at the UL game or Clemson’s season.

Correct, we've had 2 blunders that cost us 2 games almost 3. Can't have more. This team is far too good to go 9-3, with possibly the best defense at ND since the early 90s.
