Very frustrating for Kelly to be big on player development and Farley hasn't improved and makes the same old mistakes...I am not at practice but he Must be doing something right in practice to keep playing. Our scheme must be really hard if max can't get in there.

Bingo so stop assuming.

I think the light is going to go on for Farley. Maybe I'm just hoping, but I think it could happen. He's not unathletic.

Why should you quick fix a team that is broken from the beginning. Start playing for next year. Tommy is a square plug for a round hole.

I would have preferred that we totally torpedo this season, lose 8 games, and destroy our recruiting class just so that we could have started a QB who wasn't ready. That would have been my choice.

As a head coach of a major D1 program you can't just give up and play for next year. Especially at Notre Dame. Idiots like you would be even worse.

I would think (hope) that the shoulder is still bugging him. I don't rag on players, but he has not played well at all.

I honestly believe a healthy defensive line, especially Nix, is the difference in this game. Tommy made two big mistakes, but Stanford had no reason to double team anyone. I thought Fox and Carlo did a great job of filling holes, but they were met consistently by a lineman or fullback. We have Nix in there that probably doesn't happen so much. People calling for Tommy's head need to give it a freaking rest. We all know he isn't what we desire here at ND, but he goes out and tries. He makes some boneheaded mistakes, but we still went 8-4 with him as our starter. Objectively speaking that's pretty successful with him under center, again considering our injuries on the defensive side of the ball.

We had a quarterback starting for us in 2012 that had no experience before then and we all know what happened that year.

Wasting a whole year of eligibility just for a player to get "experience" at the most important position in football isn't smart

IMO the benefit of redshirting is bc we have the opportunity to have them for a 5th year. With the job the staff is doing recruiting at QB I don't think all the QBS need to be able to have 5 years. I think its always good to have a backup QB that has experience. It was different last year when we started an inexperienced QB but had one we could call on with a lot of experience. Next year, we will be starting experience and then possibly calling on the inexperience to come in and play in tough situations.

Hopefully we can get Zaire some experience in the first few games of the year.

Missouri was fine with Matty
OSU and Guiton
Nebraska Armstrong or Kellogg
Georgia Mason was great for Murray
Duke Connette in for Boone
Ok State Chelf and Walsh
OK Knight and Bell

nice try, try again. All those teams rode their backups.

That's an hilarious list.

BTW, we rode our backup several times to the National Championship game last year.

Try again.

We played the #8 team in the country within 7 points on the road.

And gave the game away by throwing 2 interceptions in the last 2 drives....? You can continue to think this was a "valiant effort" and I will continue to think it was just another missed opportunity with the wrong personnel and terrible play calling.

Because that's the biggest sign of disrespect to the seniors. Why would they go through all of the blood, sweat, and tears just prepare for a season that they won't be a part of.

Also, how was it broken from the beginning? Haha. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't we competing for a BCS bid 2 weeks ago?

For how long? All those guys gonna lead their teams to 8-4 seasons?

Uh no. Mason played one game and part of another.
Bell got beat out by knight. Bell was the incumbent.
Mauk played well in what 3-4 games against not so great teams and lost to So Carolina.
Guitton balled against terrible teams.

They asked them to play a couple of weeks, not all year.

Mizzou lost with Mauk.

Nebraska is 8-4

Georgia is 8-4

We are 8-4. What's the point here?

That is hilarious. Most of those teams aren't going to the BCS, and when you put them in context, no where near our situation.

Irishjayhawk.

"Name another program that would be as good with their second quarterback. I may or may not give you Missouri. Otherwise, go."

You asked for 1. OSU
OK was just as good too.
Missouri was as good.

There is a list of 3, you asked for one.

Nice try. Go look, at them. Sorry there is a list of 3, and you did ask for 1.

Look Tommy frustrates the hell out of me as he does all ND fans, but wanting BK to play Zaire as a true freshman just so he can get experience is dumb. Tommy has his obvious faults but look at his record and career TDs.... If Zaire was our starter we would have went 3-9 and everyone would be calling for BK's head.

Who the fvck said to start him? I just said to get him some experience. As Arrowryan said it is one of the most important position on the field. Having the opportunity to get a backup experience is not dumb if you have to rely on that player to lead your team and you want to have a chance to win.
