I'm calling for Kelly's head now. I wasn't calling for it prior to 2016. The fact is that comparing Woody's resume at this stage of his career makes it entirely clear why someone would tolerate his sideline behavior and not Kelly's. Woody had won 2 titles while Kelly hasn't come close.
So Kelly didn't play in a title game? You can talk about how that team was lucky and blah blah blah. You can't say they weren't close when they played in the game!
Let's look at those two seasons Woody won the NC:
1954: UCLA and OSU are Co-champions. UCLA had more impressive wins over common opponents Cal and USC. UCLA wasn't allowed to participate in the Rose Bowl due to the "no repeat" rule. Therefore it's entirely plausible that Woody loses that first NC he w̶o̶n̶ shared.
1957: OSU shares ANOTHER title, this time with Auburn. Auburn posted 6 shutouts that season, never allowing more than 7 points in ANY game. OSU loses to TCU in the first game of the season. TCU finished 5-4-1 in an otherwise weak season in the SWC. OSU played UNRANKED Oregon in the Rose Bowl, winning 10-7.
Let's even take a look at Woody's third NC...
1961: Shared again. This time with undefeated Alabama. OSU was 8-0-1. That tie? TCU, who finished 3-5-2. OSU faculty turned down the Rose Bowl, instead Minnesota went on to play UCLA from a very weak 5 team AAWU conference.
My point is you cannot compare Kelly to Woody. 1, because that is an insult to all things ND, Woody was an absolute asshat. 2, different era, none of those NCs were solo. 3, like you, your comparisons are weak and ill-informed.
