... and there '17 QB is from GA which is Bama w/ paved roads.

He really got away with that statement somehow.

He has around 20 SEC footprint players on his team and that doesn't include all the Texas kids either. He also has a handful of NC kids.

Dude will always be an elitist tool to me.

... or any white coach for that matter. He gets the brother pass even though he represents an elitist institution.

But BK's Purple Face will live on forever. Personally, I think BK is too laid back. But then again I grew up when real men coached sports teams.

Like Jim Harbaugh, the man "tougher than a two dollar steak," who was reduced to tears on the sidelines numerous times in Chicago under Da Coach.

Loved getting the Purple Face speech from Buckeye fans at the Fiesta Bowl to which i replied... you'd be in the fuc**ng MAC if it wasn't for Woody and his gentle soul.

Hell, where do you think Bobby Knight learned his manners? Indiana?

That's rich coming from them. A fan base that not only had Woody at the helm, but a tribute band called "The Dead Schembechlers," that all dress like him, and bite the bloody head off a wolverine (prop of course) during their set.

Ha. I gotta ask... I wonder what you would have thought when Woody went:

16-9-2 between '51-'53

16-8-3 between '58-'60

35-18-1 between '62-'67

There's 16 years of Woody's legacy you would have been calling for his head.

What NDGrad said.

Saban is a prime example of a coach who goes nuclear a lot and has had instances in his career that are just as bad as purple face, if not worse. What's the difference? Saban wins. Kelly goes nuclear but he doesn't win.

Kelly needs to fix that whole not winning problem. There's no reason we should be having to go nuclear against South effin' Florida.

That's true. In fact, Hayes first seven years and pretty similar to Kelly's minus last year's abomination. Two very good seasons, mixed in with 5 meh ones.

If Kelly had won the NC in '12 and been 11-2 every other season it STILL would be a different standard because social media drives narrative in today's sports and you'd have to be a combo of Ara and Devine to keep the haters at bay. Winning does NOT cure the optics ND is judged on, in fact if they ever turn into the Green Machine again, today's media will turn over every stone to find some tiny morsel to compare to an Ole Miss sized scandal.

Woody won titles in year 4 and in year 7. Kelly didn't win a title in year 4. Did we win a title last year? I can't remember.

Ugh, why can't Stanford just go away.............. so annoying

I've said this a lot, but ND needs to fix their own issues. There is no reason whatsoever we should be on the wrong side of a 2 game skid against the trees. No reason.

I was there to witness that 2015 debacle and I'm still baffled how we not only lost that game, but how it was even close? Then 2016 left me even more dumbfounded. Despite ND sucking last year, ND had them right where they wanted them. Up 10-0. That's when they should've put the boot to the throat and run away with a 31-0 victory. But nope, as they did SEVERAL TIMES that year, they let 1 play get to their heads and they proceeded to finish the game playing like a bunch of jagaloons.

All I'll say is that we better beat these f*cks by 30 or more. It's getting old losing to these inferior Stanford squads.

Didn't answer my question.

The first set of years was before any championship.

I'm calling for Kelly's head now. I wasn't calling for it prior to 2016. The fact is that comparing Woody's resume at this stage of his career makes it entirely clear why someone would tolerate his sideline behavior and not Kelly's. Woody had won 2 titles while Kelly hasn't come close.

So Kelly didn't play in a title game? You can talk about how that team was lucky and blah blah blah. You can't say they weren't close when they played in the game!

Let's look at those two seasons Woody won the NC:
1954: UCLA and OSU are Co-champions. UCLA had more impressive wins over common opponents Cal and USC. UCLA wasn't allowed to participate in the Rose Bowl due to the "no repeat" rule. Therefore it's entirely plausible that Woody loses that first NC he w̶o̶n̶ shared.
1957: OSU shares ANOTHER title, this time with Auburn. Auburn posted 6 shutouts that season, never allowing more than 7 points in ANY game. OSU loses to TCU in the first game of the season. TCU finished 5-4-1 in an otherwise weak season in the SWC. OSU played UNRANKED Oregon in the Rose Bowl, winning 10-7.

Let's even take a look at Woody's third NC...
1961: Shared again. This time with undefeated Alabama. OSU was 8-0-1. That tie? TCU, who finished 3-5-2. OSU faculty turned down the Rose Bowl, instead Minnesota went on to play UCLA from a very weak 5 team AAWU conference.

My point is you cannot compare Kelly to Woody. 1, because that is an insult to all things ND, Woody was an absolute asshat. 2, different era, none of those NCs were solo. 3, like you, your comparisons are weak and ill-informed.
