ND has won the last five since. All rather handily.
and I never want to lose to them again. Even more than the entire 07 year as a whole, even more than having our season destroyed by losing to navy in 09, all the mid major schools upsetting us in the last 15 years that game just really felt like the lowest point of my ND fandom. Seeing us not be able to beat such a bad team at home no less.

No other app has a money line for Syracuse in this game…if we lose this one this will be even lower than 08…but I’ll have almost 5 grand so that’ll buy a lot a off beer, manga, & take care of Christmas for the family. Even with all that I’d still rather have a playoff berth.

Since their win again ClUmson, Cuse has lost by an average of 22.5 points with the closest game being 13 pt. difference. Senior day, needing style points for the CFP polls, 2nd stringers wanting to unleash their talents, a 35 pt. Irish win should be within reach.

Minchey should get at least 1.5 quarters of play in this one! It would be cool to see him run the full offense for at least a couple of drives. All I want for Christmas is a true blowout where the backups get some real run! Oh....and a life size poster of Koon's 2016 Bod Squad!

The level of handwringing should really be something. If they don't win by 50, the season is likely lost for a few people out here, and they're going to be sure the rest of us know it.
God forbid we go 3 and out on a drive at any point, the board will be in shambles. I've stopped checking the game thread during the game unless we're up big because I just can't take it.

Replace "sun" with "Syracuse "08."

Seriously dude, let it go. You've made your point, albeit it's an odd one to dwell on. I was at the same game. We have curb-stomped them every time since. We landed Manti Teo, who visited for that exact game. Time to move on, enjoy the ass beating on Saturday. Go Irish.

What with the rain and '08 game, we should probably just pack it in for season. Somebody let Stanford know we won't be making the trip next weekend.

Granted, I'm an ND fan and spend my time mostly in and around ND sources, but I married into a family of Florida fans and go the CFB subreddit sometimes and listen to national coverage sometimes, etc., and I don't think a single fanbase in the sport dwells as much on their ancient painful losses as ND fans. In the lead up to BC people brought up 93 and skipped over the intervening 3 decades where we had pretty consistently destroyed BC. It's very weird.

Miami beat Syracuse a couple weeks ago by 28 (38-10), would be helpful to go ahead and run it up here if possible.

Has any other major college football program had as many embarrassing upsets that we have had in our program history? Not trying to be negative but for all the other blue blood programs out there how many others have gone through what we have gone through? UM had App State which is a worse loss than anything we have ever gone through (since ya know at least we have never lost to an FCS team) but totality of embarrassing upsets its unfortunately part of our legacy…

If ND didn't need style points these last two weeks I would just make every drive a FG attempt...<= 30 yard line kick it.

Comparing App St (at the time an FCS team) defeating the #2 team in the nation to losing to a P4 team like Syracuse almost 20 years ago when ND went .500 is so silly. We were a .500 team that year. It was probably a one score spread if that data is even available at this point.

How do you even compare our '08 squad to the 2025 Irish? The same ND team coming off a national title appearance last year, and two losses to top 15 teams by a total of 4 points when our defense couldn't stop a soul, who are solidly ranked in the top 10 in the Coaches, AP, CFP, FPI, SP+, etc. We are ranked top 10 in offensive SP+ and 13th defensively, going up against a Syracuse team that hasn't scored more than 20 points since September?

I've never had any issue with your posts and even found the "betting against ND until it doesn't work bit" cute but there's nothing to defend here. Just. Stop.

No new injuries on injury report. Greathouse Questionable.

Flanagan out already is interesting. I guess the USC usage didn’t go well? Could RS and have finished here if healthy

Exactly. That 2008 team wasn't very good. Good to great offense and an atrocious defense. I get the fretting about BC more than Syracuse because at least 93 cost us a national title. Syracuse 2008 just cost us a different, maybe slightly better bowl game. 2025 ND is a much different team and Syracuse is terrible. I believe Miami beat them 38-10, I would be slightly annoyed if we gave up 10 points to them.

Their team total should be 6.5 in this game.

I really enjoy the ignore button feature.

Notre Dame has played Syracuse five times since 2008 and beaten them every single one of those five, yet one individual is having a meltdown over the 2008 game and several other losses among the other 340 losses the program has endured in it's history.

The mods should start charging people subscription fees. If people are going to be this stupid, it shouldn't be for free.
