Oh snap! If Kelly plans on continuing to use GAIII, maybe that'll be a wake up call. I'd rather see Cam and Folston continue to get the carries though.

Nice job as always, PA, reps.

PA, well done.

thank you...i like that the tweets come out about a min before i actually hear the press conference due to the delay....because you can hear them in actual context....the george iii sounded like he wanted that not brought up or quickly dismiss it

Thanks PA ND FAN!

I liked the way Kelly handled things today. I like the way he credited Jaylon Smith. He talked about his athletic ability, but about his brains and his football sense, too. A high intuition guy.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but with the GA talk above, I'll throw it in here. I've seen a lot of people here (myself included) want Cam to be the #1 back and for GA to lose carries. I've seen people touch on the fact that GA's numbers are a lot worse if you take away his 80 yard run against Oklahoma. I thought this was interesting:

Take away GA's longest run (80 yards)
--69 carries, 301 yards, 1 TD, 4.36 avg
Take away Cam's longest run (36 yards)
--90 carries, 376 yards, 2 TDs, 4.18 avg

Cam has 2 catches for 2 yards, GA has 7 catches for 51.

I don't know what we're seeing (myself included) that has many saying Cam>GA. I've been vocal for Cam getting more carries and even would prefer him on kick returns. But these numbers just don't even come close to backing that up.

Maybe GA has been getting carries on 2nd and long where Cam tends to get more of the short yardage ones? I don't have those numbers to know if thats true or not. Either way, the stats don't really add up here for why everyone seems to think its clear that Cam>GA.

I like Cam more because George runs like a total puss IMO. I've never seen him put his shoulder down, not one time. For example, it was a 2nd and 3 last week against AF. Tommy throws a swing pass to George, he got the first 2 yards and then it looks like he hit a brick wall. Can he not at least lower his shoulder and fall forward against a tiny defensive back? We all know Cam would've lowered his shoulder.

Then I've been thinking, is George really a home run threat? He has had long touchdown runs against Navy, OU, and Miami. Any of the running backs on the roster could've scored on those plays because either the o-line has opened up a hole that was 5 yards wide or the defense had EXTREMELY over pursued. If GB was healthy, I'd say GA is our 4th best running back.

This is how I feel when watching live, but the numbers I referenced above dont back it up at all.

Average weight of the offensive and defensive lines:

Notre Dame OL 311.8 lbs. vs. Navy DL 267.0 lbs.
Notre Dame DL 317.0 lbs. vs. Navy OL 283.6 lbs.

Average height of the receivers and the secondaries:

Notre Dame WR/TE 6'0 3/4" vs. Navy DB 6'0"
Notre Dame DB 5'11 3/8" vs. Navy WR 6'1"

Somebody want to tell the OLine they've got a 45 lbs/man advantage. They are not just supposed to "win" the battle in the trenches, they're supposed to crush the Middies.

If it was that simple then everyone would look at that as the telling stat to the running game. How many people are you accounting for in the box? You also have to factor stunts, blitzes, an extra safety, etc.

I have a gut feeling this game is going to be tougher than last week. This last stretch is going to be a lot tougher than we think. Navy isnt nearly as bad as air force. Pitt has been a close one every year since 08 BYU is better than expected and stanford well we knew that would be tough. I just hope we get the O goign early and the D snuffs out the option earlier than last week but I think this game will be a lot closer and maybe even go to the wire.

I'm sure it will be tough b/c Kelly will continue to try and get George and Amir "going." I just hope we can score early and take them out of their normal routine.
