They beat Wisconsin and apparently gained no momentum from it since they haven't won since.

Nebraska and Iowa recently both manhandled this team and Michigan gave them a real 10-9 woodshed beating.

No excuses. Beat this lesser opponent into submission. This ND squad, especially the young guys, need to learn how to put lesser teams away and keep them there. We haven't done that in years.

Poor traction yes, I'm more worried about how cold/wind can make it difficult to throw and kick the ball, which leads to more "freak" plays.

I still think we get it done, but I think it might be hard to win comfortably.

I'll buy that. Holding on to the football can be more difficult with cold hands. And that's something we already struggle with.

I think this game helps get us back on track for the end run.

NW already had their Super Bowl versus Wisconsin.

NW has the 114th Ranked Rushing Attack, 109 yds/game, 2.88 ypc. They had -9 yds on 34 attempts last game against Michigan.


NWs Rushing Defense isn't very good either. In their last 4 games, all loses, they only gave up 3.1 ypc to Minnesota and 2 Rushing TDs, Nebraska averaged 5.3 ypc and had 4 Rushing TDs, Iowa average 4.8 ypc and had 4 rushing TDs, and inept Michigan ran for 4.2 ypc and scored their only TD on the ground.

NW has allowed 14 rushing TDs all season but 11 have come in the last 4 games.

The wind is only supposed to 5-10 mph, Golson can pass in that. And if the weather is too bad to pass, Elmer and Folston won't have to worry about handling the blitz. They can focus on plowing down the field.

Those stats definitely show how poor a team the Mildcats are but I throw all that out when they're playing Notre Dame. On the ND boards I've been on, most are still picking a blowout. While it's anecdotal, most of the ones picking a blowout hail from the midwest. If I were betting money on this game, I'd bet NW to cover the spread (ND wins by two TDs) and the Under.
