If the DC doesn’t know the way here Freeman does. Navy isn’t the navy of old. Should win comfortably add a W to the column.

With Lavatai out Arline takes over. Arline's been their starter on and off the last couple years. He's a pretty clever runner and can execute the option reasonably well but he's not going to wow you with his speed or run over anyone. Cannot pass whatsoever. Drops back to pass occasionally, then runs.

Arline came out of the Cincy game a couple times with a leg injury. Replacement, Maynor is actually a good passer, hit three shots downfield, but didn't execute the option well.

Navy's running game is almost entirely between the tackles. Fullback dive, fullback dive, QB duck. Their outside game is not doing any damage, probably due the to the change in the blocking rules banning crackback blocks.

The preparation this week is going to be about as big of a challenge as they have faced yet. I'm happy that UGA and LSU took a lot of the national spotlight out of beating Clemson last night.

They need to get right back after it tomorrow and prepare for this game as though it was a championship final. Knock the piss out of them early and often, protect the DL's legs and get out of there intact.

Focus is going to be massive this week.

I know we’re still living in year 1 of the MFMF era, but I think we will learn more from the next two weeks than we will from the USC game. Coach didn’t have us ready out-talent Marshall, and we were out-coached against Stanford, so we will soon see if lessons were learned quickly or not.
Drew Pyne still limits us, but the Coach(es) should be able to get us ready to take care of business the next two weeks and then see what we really have this year against USC. Frankly, it will be disappointing if we regress to playing down to Navy or BC’s level.

Injury free football next weekend is what I'm hoping for. Hope they remember their attention to detail and the traits

Three very good performances since Stanford. 1-0 in November, which is when college programs worth their salt start cashing the checks.

They need to string a fourth one together, then onto the next. This could be the turning point we're seeing before our eyes. It boils down to them taking a business like approach to each week for the rest of the season.

It would be awesome to have 300 rushing yards.
It would be awesome, but not likely. Navy was dreadful for the first two games this year. Since then, their opponents have averaged under 58 plays per game. Cincinnati was their last game, with just 55 plays against. Even a 80 20 split rushing and passing would mean an average ypc of close to 6.5. Unlikely.

The teams that have really handled Navy this year have done it thru the air. I think 19 point spread is way too much and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's a one score game heading into the 4th.

We should beat them no less than 35-14 if not worse. I think Lune can get his passes over the Navy DL…….maybe. Just exert our will. This game should be right up JDBs and Kisers alley. Practice good tackling and leverage all week. Marcus has played Navy more than a few times I believe with great success. Play action simple passing and eating and Doug’s up the middle with Tyree on the jet sweep should rule the day. Defeating Navy soundly will be a good indication that Freeman is figuring out how to exert his teams strengths over other teams. I think more than any other team in CFB we could and would win a rematch with all our losses.

When Estime and Diggs are running for 10 yards per carry no problem lol

Anybody know if Freeman brought up Justin A at his presser today? Is he good to go for Navy?

The teams that have handled Navy did it through the air, because they all suck at running the ball.

Pretty much every opponent Navy has played to this point are mediocre or worse in terms of rushing offense, with the exception of Air Force (duh).

Oh man, I would rather play a ranked team rather one struggling.

Didn't mean to say that Navy was some stalwart. But the book on beating Navy has been to try and get up by two scores early to make them take more chances. Cincinnati is not the same as last year, but they had a very uncomfortable game two weeks ago against Navy. This game should always be a blowout, but ends up being closer more than it should.

This is a week where we really see where MFMF is at as a coach and program leader. We’ve very obviously struggled with teams that we should’ve been able to handle, on paper. Can he get the locker room to do that on the heels of one of the biggest victories for the program in recent memory? Doing so would be another step in the growth process.

I do not like the early start time especially after such a big win.
This was a big concern for many before Syracuse but turned out just fine. I think Freeman will have the boys ready to go; quick start is a must against Navy (I know, we say this every game) but the last thing we want is to punt and see them play their clock management game and burn the whole first quarter; the offense may start pressing in that scenario.

Just RTDB, use play action in good situations, and smoke these guys.

Yeah, pretty much this. Don't get cute.

The Clemson win was obviously huge, but I also think it gives some validity to the players and offensive staff that it is ok to just say we are gonna line up in front of you and run it down your throat. Clemson was proof-positive because all anyone wanted to mention before the game was Clemson's DL being so good (and rightfully so), but guess what ND has some studs on OL and in the backfield too.

It may not be the "prettiest" offense to everyone, but, again, you just beat a Top 5 team with it. So..."Just RTDB, use play action in good situations, and smoke these guys."
