Their WRs will run by our DBs, that's no joke. It's important we get enough of a rush so Rozier doesn't have time to wait on the deep route. Their speed advantage against our DBs is my biggest concern defensively.

Their LBs are fast too, as are their corners, but I don't think that matters as much.

I know those guys are fast, I’m not discounting that. Is it a concern with their WRs? Absolutely. But it’s been framed as ND is a slow team that just pounds the football. That’s just not true.

That's weird. He won't be fast enough for Rozier IMO.
He wasn't spying in the base defense. It was in the second half when we were playing prevent and only rushed two or three.

Love and Crawford are great in the short routes, but have gotten ran by a LOT on deep balls this year. Thankfully, the QBs haven't connected yet, and Rozier isn't a great QB, but he throws the deep ball a lot and pretty well.

It hasn't hurt us yet, but we've been lucky IMO.

USC is as fast as Miami and far more talented, at least on offense. We'll be fine.

It's probably just my paranoia acting up, but..........Qb's that play ND seem to be more accurate than normal and their receivers are just a little more sticky fingered than normal as well.

That Miami of Ohio game made me think their qb was NFL HOF material

the fans on twitter, message boards remind me a lot of their players....a lot talk and noise.....but this is to be expected from their fans because well that has always been the way they are...even in the past years when we beat them especially in 2012 when they were supposedly "back" and we hadn't seen any kind of speed like them before...what happened? we blew them out of the water because they aren't disciplined and we punched them in the mouth....this is the same type of team....ND by at least 2 TD'S

That 2012 team was pretty damn fast. Their receivers couldn't catch, and as it got colder, they got slower. Same with the Sun Bowl game. It was only in the 30s, and that UM team looked like they were in sub-zero weather.

We're in warm/humid weather, this time.

Yeah, Koon is correct. But USC had that same speed on the outside and inside. It'll come down to how locked in our defense is: if they aren't locked in, we could be in a shoot out.

If we play our game, the way we've played 7.5 times this year, we should win. If Miami forces us to play their game, we'll all have ulcers by Sunday morning.

You have something for every game. NC State has a better d line than UGA, Miami is the best defense we’ll face, their WR’s will burn our DB’s. But yet every time one of your keen observations is wrong (which has been a lot this season) we never see you come back to eat crow. If our DB’s handle them, will you commit to posting a full crow eating?

1) They do. You spun it into 'better defense', which was never said.
2) Never said anything like that.
3) They will get by our DBs. Whether or not it matters remains to be seen. Far less speedy WRs are getting by our DBs, but they haven't connected, at least not in games where it mattered.

What crow?

You haven't figured it out yet, but Koon is actually Lou Holtz. Didn't matter who we were playing, Lou had everyone convinced that the other team was very likely going to beat us. At least that what he was saying Monday to Wednesday of game week. By Friday night Koon/Lou will be declaring nobody can stop us

1) No they are not. Not statistically speaking.
2) So what are you saying? Or are you doing that thing where you make broad proclamations that allow you to say “I told you so” if it pans out but take no responsibility if it doesn’t?
3 Is that not saying exactly what I’m accusing you of?

When you said that we would struggle against NC state’s defensive line? Did you ever actually say that you were wrong about that?

No, our DBs will get beat by them on long balls. Whether the QB has time to throw, whether the WRs catch it, whether he throws it in bounds, etc, is all that remains to be seen. Just because someone gets beat doesn't mean it hurts the team.

No?

We're 8-1 and should be having a blast. Can you take your nose out of my butthole while you eat your work lunch in the bathroom for just ONE season? The thread doesn't need to be derailed by you every single week.

I would argue you derail the thread every week with your constant “hot takes”. They are annoying and simply there so you can make your next annoying series of posts if you get lucky and it pans out that way.

I am having a blast this year, Koon. Do you honestly think that it’s just me? Cuz others have said this about you and you’re the only one on here I accuse of it. But whatever, carry on with your nonsense.

Really? Because he was held below his season average for completion percentage, QBR, and YPA. He was not impressive at all.

It's a hot take that our DBs will get beat deep by the WRs? It's a hot take that NC state has the best DL, an opinion that most scouts have?

Those aren't hot takes dude. This is such a one sided relationship . I literally never care what opinions you post, you'll notice I don't comment on your OPs. You have to find something to say about everyone of mine.

If we win the toss, do you take the ball or defer?

I think I defer. I like our defense against their offense more than I like our offense against their defense. I think the opening drive can set the tone for both side's offense/defense for the rest of the quarter.

On offense, do you go tempo to keep them from subbing and try to wear down their mammoth DTs?

I would kick, get a three and out, get some good field position.

I would not go tempo, not sure if ND will be affected by the humidity. Hydration is key the next few days..

Maybe ....but my expectations weren't 19-37 for 262 yds (second most this season) and 2 tds and 1 int

hell Darnold was 20-28 for 229yds and 2 tds and 1 int

I was thinking watching that game, how is Ragland stepping up against this D

I think we've happened to play some really good college QBs this year. The NC State QB, WF's, and Miami of OH's QB don't get the recognition of Sam Darnold, but they seem smart and could get it out quickly.

Reading a defense is so underrated in QB play, it's all about big arm and measurables. But if you get a 3-year starter who can read a defense who has a noodle arm, he can slice you up for a while.

And by halftime the game was in garbage time... Much like against MSU, who cares

This is a legit problem for me too. I would love to rep people but the quality of posting is poor lately. That's saying something coming from me as a very terrible poster.

Yeah, I really shouldn't say anything, as I've not been contributing much. IE is really quiet compared to 2015

You guys can't see genius when it's right in front of you. Every one of my posts are "brilliant prose".

BINGO, anyone remember a certain ND QB by the name Tommy Rees? Not a great arm, but was smart and knew where to put the ball. Sometime it was to the other team, but that's neither here nor there.
WF's QB had 40+ career starts, knew how to run his offense like the back of his hand and knew where to attack Elko's defense. That game was an outlier, pure and simple.
