Austin will be a lot better than Chase IMO. I also want to see more. Disagree on Chase's game vs WF though. Blocking aside, he was arguably the best catching WR that day. Tied for most WR receptions, 2nd in WR yards (only because of Youngs 1 reception for 66).

I do agree that Austin will eventually be a lot better than Chase. That's not a knock on Chase, but I really think Austin will turn into a top level college receiver.

But still, WF was a game in which Book was dishing it out to literally everybody with hands that day. Claypool had his moments, but he was still inconsistent in his routes and his blocking was still a disappointment. Let's also remember that WF's defense was a complete train wreck, so his modest numbers don't really indicate to me a great day. It was an okay game, but nothing more MO.

From Douglas Farmer of NBC Sports:

Just looked at their schedule and they likely didn't play in a game below 70 degrees last year. Not saying it's the determining factor, but it's a factor. Especially for a team that has a propensity to quit.

From Douglas Farmer of NBC Sports:

That is complete bullsh*t.

The closest FSU has come to FSU playing in this type of cold weather was last year when they played BC in Chestnut Hill. It was in late October, but it was probably in the low to mid 40's at worst, based on what Wunderground has for it's historical data.

It's expected to be in the 20's with a windchill possibly hitting the teens. FSU hasn't experienced that kind of weather for as long as I can recall.

(BTW: Important to mention that BC crushed them in that game 35-3. Not only are we much better than that BC team, that was also a better FSU team).

I think this could actually work in ND favor rather than Blackmon.

Let's not kid ourselves, the weather is going to affect both teams. Wimbush playing may actually be a good thing. The passing games will be off for both teams, regardless of starters. The QBs wont be able to feel their hands. With Wimbush's skill set as an able runner, it may have more upside than if Book was starting.

While I do agree with you that the cold and especially the wind will almost certainly affect the passing game both ways, I think ND will definitely benefit from the cold while FSU will be hindered by it.

It's all about acclimation. FSU practically never goes north of the MDL. The few times they have, it's been in September and October and rarely are they night games. ND LIVES in this weather, they play, practice and condition in it while going to class every week in it.

It's the opposite effect that took place last year in Miami. The heat and humidity was a huge advantage for Miami, because they were acclimated to it, and it was a huge disadvantage for ND because they weren't and were also coming off a game where it was cold and rainy.

Time to run up the score.

I really hope ND runs the same play when they're up 44-0 just to rub salt in the wound.

Anyone starting to get the feeling we roll to 40 point win?

Could finally be the statement game to the committee even without Ian Booker

It will. Francois is immobile and cannot read a D, at least quickly enough in the time his OL gives him.

Their OL is horrific. ND defense is going to have a field day. Honestly, Okwara, Tillery, Hayes and Kareem may knock this dude out of the game. He gets beat the F up facing lesser front 7's.

Its hilarious how obvious it is that Gameday probably planned to be in South Bend when the season started. Only thing to stop it was FSU being completely terrible.

There's no weather condition that BW has more upside than Book. Just stop.

I bet they still would have... if not for a potential Top 10 match up at Babe's House next week when there projects to be no other interesting games.

I think it's likely 1) it's easier to start Francois than Blackman, and make a switch, then vice versa. And 2) they are likely trying to keep the RS on Blackman.

Wait, hold up... wait wait WAIT!!!!

FSU really has a turnover backpack?

I haven't seen them play all year, I really thought that was something one of the guys on IE made up to have a little fun.
Imagine my surprise when I saw it mentioned on a Noles board.

These cats have a turnover backpack and I have so many questions:

Is it just an empty backpack?

Who chose what backpack they'd use?

Did nobody stand up in the locker room and explain why it's not a good idea?

Surely they cant still be parading around with this thing, right?

Was there a moment where they were like... yo... enough's enough. We suck and I ain't wearing that backpack.

Were there other ideas that the backpack beat out?

They could have at least picked a cooler backpack. Something tougher like a military type, or something blingy. Instead, they picked a backpack that looks girly, or metro at best. Nobody is fearing that backpack.

The only thing that I can see exciting those guys, is if the backpack is filled with cold casssssssh.

morning prayers included a lot, and some things ND centric...

Dear Lord -

Please heal up Ian fast and complete so he's back next weekend.

Give our o-line the strength to put the team on their backs, to keep BW safe, and open up semi-sized lanes for Dex and the RBs

Please give Brandon the confidence to hit open WRs and the speed to outrun the FSU DL.

And lastly....

Please give our WRs and TEs the vertical ups and strong hands to snatch every 50/50 ball out of the air.

PS... Lord, our D shouldn't need many prayers, but please keep them, and everyone else injury free.

Go Irish

Disagree. Extreme 30+ mph wind and rain (when there is 0% chance of passing), I'll take BW. The other 99.9% of weather, I'll take Book :)
If this are the conditions, you'll see 12 men in the box loaded against our O. But that won't matter because our D would score enough to win the game.

That was nice & all, but let me teach you our pre-game prayer:

Dear Lord, let us beat those m***********s so bad that they **** themselves every time they ever hear our names again, their girlfriends leave them, and their whore mother find Jesus. Amen.

Getting ready to head north with my daughter. Her first ND game. I’m stokers. I heard FSU was in the sporting good department at WalMart buying all the hand warmers! Go Irish!☘️

If someone can get Newsome to watch some film of the OSU punter today, that'd be great. Thanks.
