I'm from near Boston and just bought a couple of tickets. I bet they'll get a lot more expensive by gametime. Predicting 40% ND fans.

Yep. Bought mine a couple months ago and felt in the moment like I overpaid, but unless BC tanks I'll probably have gotten myself a deal. Just a small stadium, a lot of ND fans in the area, and BC's feeling a little excited about itself at the moment.

Lonergan is at 76% for 325 and 4 TDs average per game through 2 games

Tore up Michigan St the same way he did Fordham, no help from the defense in a loss

With game time not fixed yet, do we think it is a question of whether it is a 330 kick off versus a night game? Is there a possibility it would be a noon kickoff? Planning a quick trip to Boston regardless, but it would be a total buzz kill if it was noon.

I've never understood the Fredo reference.

Notre Dame can't be Sonny. He got gunned down on the causeway. They can't be Michael, because he's younger.

It can't be betraying the Big East for the ACC because that happened in 2004 after the Fredo reference started and has nothing to do with football.

All that said, I find it funny for a variety of reasons.

Connie then?

BC to the ACC:
"You think you know Notre Dame? You know how many conferences they've had killed?! Read the papers. Read the papers!"

Maybe it's Fredo because he was a fuck up and chose the wrong side?

Fredo was a nickname given to BC by Boston University. It basically just means lesser brother or least impressive, most pathetic brother. ND uses it the same way.

It's probably going to be a TV call. BC does play most of their home games at noon, and don't play many at night. One last year, none the year before. Though I did go to a ND night game there during the Weis years. (getting out of there was a massive pain in the ass). I think it was noon last time we were there in like 2017.

There's also a few other potentially big games that weekend, including Miami-SMU, which could bump ours out of prime TV slots. I'm going, with various older and younger relatives, and hoping for a 3:30, personally, but not optimistic.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing; they just wait to flex these games later in the year based on the rest of the slate. My money wuld also be on a noon kick; there's a lot of really good match ups that week.

UGA/UF already slated for 3:30 on ABC. PSU/OSU will likely be on NBC so that doesn't matter. Miami/SMU, Rutgers (frisky?) @ Illinois, SCar @ Ole Miss, OU/Tenn, ASU/ISU, USC/Neb, etc. Pretty loaded conference lineup, honestly. Depending on how good BC is, maybe we get lucky and there's a 3:30 or 7:00PM ESPN2 kick, or something.

Pretty sure Fox already grabbed the PSU/OSU game for big noon.

Nothing says "Big Noon" like two of your biggest programs in the B1G playing well before prime time. Good job, Fox!

Well yeah that is the concept of Big Noon
Maybe it's the concept that's the problem. Maybe it's b/c I have kids with busy weekend schedules, and plenty of errands to run, but I'm much more likely to watch a night game, or catch the second half of a 3:30 start, than I am to devote three-plus hours of prime Saturday afternoon to any game not involving Notre Dame.

Right but I don’t think Fox is unaware that many people and teams want the games in prime time. They’ve decided they don’t want to go head to head with ABC at that time, but what they do want is to eat into Gameday’s dominance from 9 - 11 AM. And the idea is a bigger game following the pre game show will help + win the noon slate. It’s just viewing it through 4 time slots of programming rather than focus of big football should be played at night.

I guess. Seems to be putting the cart before the horse, though.

Penn State-Ohio State will likely be one of the very most-watched games of the regular season. I'd guess a lot more people - especially people who are not specifically fans of those teams (🖐️) - would actually watch it at 7:30 than at noon. And than would watch whatever ABC might show that night (Miami-SMU? Oklahoma-Tennessee?)

I get how this approach helps the Fox pregame show (and maybe that's more reliably profitable for the network?) just seems like it detracts from the main event. But then, oddly, I am not a television executive.

My point exactly. You don't put a marquee matchup like OSU and Penn State at noon...that's some mediocre shit. That's a prime time matchup if there ever was one, the kind you want a crowd good and intoxicated for. Hell, some of us ain't even out of bed at noon on Saturday! Noon kickoffs should be for east coast G5 type teams, or P4 teams playing cupcakes.

I get that perspective, but some of us watch football more or less when it starts, and the number of fans down for a viewing day longer than an extended edition LOTR trilogy may be low. Last Saturday, I was looking forward to the 5:30 games (7:30 Eastern.) I was asleep before any of those games hit halftime.

When I was younger, I still wanted the games on early. Freed up my Saturday evenings for other activities.

Saturday nights in the fall are for football. Bitches gotta wait till the clock hits 0.

Would anyone have insight on the best spot for a tailgate? Based on limited internet research, seems like Shea Field but would like to be certain before paying through the nose. Also, anyone want to sell me tickets??? Rad tailgate invite included…

If you drive from Chicago to ND there are these gas station/rest stops along the way I see people tailgating. They look happy
