Mick taking 25% for himself? Pass.
I saw that last week, at least the part that Mick Assaf was behind the idea. Gotta hand it to the guy, even if he's getting a decent cut out of this he's trying to find ways to improve the team and help the players. He's been awfully involved with ND the last couple months lol.

Greyhammer is a pimp,... he never could have outthought Notre Dame on NFTs... but what I didn't know until this day was that ulukinatme was Mick Assaf all along.

Doesn't seem like he's getting that 25% like we previously thought. The 75% is split evenly among players opting into the program and 25% allocated for "additional player commitments", stuff beyond social media like showing up at a camp, tailgates, watch parties, etc.

I do think that some additional clarity is needed and they've promised to release a "roadmap" very soon. It's actually looking very promising.

I'm sure ACamp is wrong about this cover up and I'm willing to let bygones be bygones... but I'm a superstitious poster, and if some unlucky accident should befall Acamp - if he loses his cryptowallet, or be found suffocated in an asian prostitute's thighs... or if he should be struck by a banhammer - then I'm going to blame some of the people in this chat; and then I do not forgive. But with that said, I pledge - on the souls of the mods - that I will not be the one to turn ulukinatme into the IRS.

I like to see how you have done a complete 180 regarding the IPC project. Glad to have you onboard!

Mick was recently on The Shamrock interviewing with Sampson. Even after listening to it, I still have no clue what a NFT is. I never got into bitcoin so all of this digital-age crytpo stuff is beyond me. I guess I've hit that age where technology passed me by and I don't care. You can find me on my porch yelling at the whippersnappers to get off my lawn.

It's a way to pay players, and then you also maybe-possibly-not-likely-but-who-cares get an "asset" out of your payment to the players. Which is hypothetically better than just cutting your check and getting nothing. So I have no criticism of it as a way to get NIL money in the hands of ND people.

I guess I understand the gist, I just don't see why they can't use regular USD? Why NFT? Why Bitcoin?

The crux of the issue is that NIL rules right now are full of loopholes but -- in spirit -- you have to be paying them for some form of "marketing" related service. An appearance fee. A signed hat. A piece of memorabilia. You're not hypothetically supposed to just be paying people salaries to play football. That's why one of the first major forays into NIL payments was a sham charity that financed the Texas OL. The donations are tax deductible even if most of what you donated is going to line the pockets of players.

So with an NFT, you basically have a group of players selling "art". It's digital art that uses blockchain. Since the end user is purchasing an asset from the player(s), it's totally above board. Blockchain technology (i.e. crypto) is just what is facilitating the transaction.

What is the Sam Hell is that?
It's basically a room with voice chat, kinda like Discord. In this case there's a lot of people, lots of current and former players. Typically they only allow about 8 speakers at a time.

They were taking questions from the crowd and they asked Big Q which opponent he wanted to beat most of all and he said USC lol

Can twitter spaces be replayed anywhere?
Not to my knowledge. I didn't catch the whole thing, but most of it was Mick and Weish talking about what the program will do for current and future ND players. They asked some questions to the former and current players on where was the loudest environment they ever played in. A lot of the guys said Miami in '17, Book said it was bigger than even Saints home games by a bit (Probably more impressive when you consider NO is in a dome). They talked to Styles and Fish a bit, those guys asked former players for advice. A lot of good advice was given.

Newsome was in there too, and players talked about his legendary workout regime...would sometimes lift twice in the same day if he didn't get a good enough lift in the first time. I'm not sure if I forgot this or ever knew it, but they said Newsome did over 30 reps of 225 at the combine or pro day which is beyond ridiculous for a punter. For reference the best OL/DL will get in the 40-49 range (49 being the record).

Other than what @NDFAN420 mentioned I don't recall much else of note. Guys like Dex seemed really excited about it for players coming from underpriviledged backgrounds. He commented that one of the reasons he chose ND is because of the TV visibility and it meant his family could watch him easily since they couldn't afford to come to every game. Kinda reinforces that ND was doing things the right way prior to NIL and probably not shuffling bags often or at all.

Several of us were there today listening. Most of you guys should hop on and give it a listen. Good info and stories from everyone I heard today.

Agree OCIrish. It was a good listen and others should def hop on next time. Book and Nelson had some really good stories. Styles and Fisher seem like excellent young men. Overall it was a good experience. And this was just a taste of some of the events IPC will be offering, especially if you own an NFT it can be used as a utility for a bunch of fan experiences.

I realize you need something like this to compete. But man, this has creep factor written all over it. I'm in my 30's and have "grown up" with texting, video calls (American Pie like webcams rule!) and remember facebook with @abc.edu requirements. But something just feels wrong about having direct access to these athletes in a paid environment. It's one thing for someone on IG to try and @ some player. But there is going to be people, ND or otherwise, that will feel like " I paid XXX for access to you and I am going to get". I just hope the players (across CFB, not ND specifically) understand / consider what the underbelly of this beast looks like before they sign up.
