My dad has neem a bitter "everyone has sucked since Holtz" type of fan

But he is now so so on board with Freeman

Just wait. If Bevaqua can keep tilting the scale towards “we need this program, give MF some leeway to get who he needs to win”, we are still a few years away from seeing its final form.

Doesnt matter. You are either in or you are out. Fine if you are out but dont get in line for the kudos when you dont contribute.

You don’t have a fucking clue what this kid is going through. What if he is struggling mentally and needed to take a break for his health and safety. Would you deny a kid that is trying to take care of himself the opportunity to be recognized because he definitely DID contribute early in the season.

To be completely clear I have no idea what is going on with this kid but wish him nothing but the best.

It doesn’t matter?? It could be a laundry list of things that could be the reason and frankly non of our business. Don’t be a douche bag pal, the coaches know his reasoning and that’s fine by me

I'm totally that guy as well. Even under Kelly I hardly ever felt like we were going to win that big game. Now, just like the Holt days, I'm a nervous wreck to the point of nauseous because I know we have a shot we can win everytime we step on the field. Love that feeling, love what Freeman has done and love the culture that surrounds this program.

Seriously?
This article, while vague leads me to believe the kid is dealing with either some serious mental or family issues. The tone of his teammates and Marcus do not make me feel like its disciplinary or like he just quit on his team a la Jaden Mickey.

Really think Jayson has NFL potential and was arguably better than Mills in the first quarter of the year. For his sake, I hope whatever he’s dealing with subsides before he runs out of time. Something that would undoubtedly eat at him for the rest of his life.

See this is what is 100% wrong with America. Ever since Obama pushed the "trophy for every kid" thing, people have gotten soft. Do you not think there have always been people struggling with mental or physical health or family issues throughout time? Did they just quit? No you do what you are to do. The guy is a football player. THAT IS WHY HE IS IN COLLEGE FOR FREE, no other reason. This is why you are getting the education paid for, the best food and school handouts while Im paying for my kid to go to school. Fine if you want to quit and say things are so tough for me, great. Just dont expect the trophy at the end with the ones who actually worked through the pain, sweat and tears.
Thanks again Obama.
What if whatever he is dealing with was going to be a distraction for the team, or if he was not going to be able to perform at the level needed? I'm a hard ass about this stuff too, within reason. I don't discredit your point, but without knowing the severity of the issue or what is going on, its tough judgment to pass. This clearly isn't a depth chart issue or an I'm taking my ball and going home situation.

Given the lack of leaks on this one, sounds to me like the kid could also be dealing with a serious physical medical issue that’s unrelated to football.

So when will we know about Knapp and Spin?? Or are we already moving forward without them?

Posted this in the postgame thread, but I'd be shocked if Knapp plays against OSU. Dude was in a walking boot and had a huge limp walking to the locker room after the postgame festivities.

Rocco has played well but he got absolutely abused on the play Leonard got hurt.
Was that also the play where Rocco got hurt? Saw a clip where it looked like his ankle just gave out on him.

If Knapp can't go I do wonder if they put Jagusah or Lambert at tackle. Ohio State's rush ends are no joke, you might want to ride with superior athleticism over less-athletic experience in Baker.

Denbrock needs to bring in the '2-3 Tight-End' sets and run some counters. o$u splits the LB's wide - very wide... make them run 15 yards to get to Love - if they can.

I bet they roll with the lineup they played the second half with.

I thought Baker played well and is just such a massive dude to get around.

Then no drop off, maybe improvement, for Jagusah over Spindler.

He got his ass kicked but he may have dropped like that b/c he may have been injured midplay. I really don't know, though. Hard to tell.

Never want to see anyone get injured, but it feels like everything that’s happened to this team this year has been for a reason. Jagusah being thrown into the mix was a blessing. If any of you guys have access to the game on skycam, go watch the first half with Rocco and compare it to second half with Jagusah.

Rocco's performance wasn’t bad by any means. He had one really awful rep noted above but that may have been due to an mid play injury. Beyond that, it was a steady series of stalemates. In the run game, he consistently reached his blocks but didn’t generate much movement whether it was a double or a downblock. He got there, covered his man but didn't move anyone against their will.

In pass pro, he held up fine overall. He gave up a pressure on the play where he was injured and maybe one or two others, but he wasn’t a liability. His pass sets were noticeably deeper than Jagusah’s, and that may have contributed to Leonard’s discomfort in the pocket. Just my guess, but Leonard, like everyone else watching the game, expected edge pressure every snap, and Rocco’s deeper sets created the illusion of a collapsing pocket. Leonard just looked uncomfortable, even when escaping the pocket, which is typically his comfort zone.

Jags barely moved backward at all. He’d come out of his stance, punch the defender, and pretty much shut him down on contact or he'd shift right or left to give help/pick up a potential blitzing LB. It gave Leonard more room to step up and it may have made a difference in hte pass game, though I could be wrong.

In the run game, he was getting way more movement than Rocco or anyone else. IMO, it was the key difference in the run game on the first series in the 2nd half and teh 2nd half overall. He was moving bodies on doubles and downblocks and they had him pulling quite a bit - he hammered a few edge players. On Love’s TD run he pulled and that was the only time I saw him miss bc the defender launched himself up the field to avoid contact. Probably should have turned upfield but Love took care of it on his own.

My initial take was that we’re better with Jags at LT and Rocco at Guard. Looking back, I did notice Jags struggled a bit with lateral movement. It wasn't a huge deal but I noticed it a couple of times and makes me curious if he would struggle with pass pro at LT b/c there's just a ton of lateral movement. Lateral movement be damned, this kid is a monster. PSU DTs figured that out - that one idiot driving his hand into Jag's facemask, desperately trying to move him, didn't get too far. Jags just reset his feet and calmly stood his ground, as if a child was trying to push him.

I would be shocked if he wasn't starting against OSU even if everyone was healthy.
