Vandevelde! He's a local boy. Unfortunately a North Dakota Fighting Siou....I mean Hawk.
He blows. Lol

I know very little about hockey. It's not very big here. I'll defer to you on that! Would love to see the Flyers make a run at the Cup though. Giroux is a great player and they are going to waste his career.

I think they will, but they are still a bit away. Hextall has done a great job. Yeah, Giroux has been a great player, unfortunately there's a portion of the fanbase that doesn't feel that sentiment.

The thing is though, Holmgren had them in really good shape. He got great value for Carter and Richards, cleared cap space, they had a good defense, great depth upfront, then it started going downhill.

Traded for and signed Bryzgalov which was dumb when they had Bobrovsky.
Traded for Nick Grossmann who, just isn't good.
He traded JVR for Luke Schenn,
Signed Lecavalier.
Traded for and signed Andrew MacDonald to an absolutely dumb contract.

IMO, he also messed-up with the long-term deal for Pronger, given what it did to the Flyer cap space in regards to signing free agents in the offseason. I have also found that Holmgren created too much churn in the Flyer roster, but that is just me.

My point is that I think that Clarke was even worse for the Flyers as a GM, as they had some good 'skaters' and Clarke monumentally screwed-up finding adequate goaltending seemingly every year. If he had actually put a deal together for Patrick Roy in the mid-90's, Lindros might have won a cup rather than Forsberg....making Farwell look like less of an idiot for that trade in the early 90's

Now now, let's get one thing straight. The Yankees are and will always be the "Evil Empire".

The Habs are the "moderately impolite empire". Sorry, eh.

Yeah, meant to put... The NHL's Evil Empire.

But still, the Habs and Yanks are neck and neck when all things are considered.

The Habs are not even going to win the East. Have you seen the Rangers goal differential?? (+29)

Rangers have not lost back to back games all year. Don't see them losing a 7 game series right now.

To borrow on the old Hawk's marketing campaign... Cold silicone on ice!

Order "Hawk Vision" today, and get all the home games for the low price of $39.95 each!"

*$39.95 in the late 80's would roughly equate to $1,500,000 nowadays.

Either 'Va chier!' or 'Criss le camp!', depending on context haha.

Just heard on the NHL network that ND is the leading candidate for the outdoor Winter Classic. Perhaps next year on New Years Day.
They also said the Hawks would probably be involved.
Pretty cool!

This year's Wild squad is unlike any other Wild team I've ever seen. For most of Minnesota's (albeit short) history they've been a workman like team of grinders, this reached it's apex under Yeo who teaches possibly the most boring and least imaginative form of hockey possible. Yeo's scheme worked for 1/2 a season and couldn't deliver in the high pressure environment of the postseason.

This Wild team leads the NHL with 8 players with at least 10 goals. Their goal scoring ability is deep and with Dubs in the net they don't need to worry about making a mistake here and there allowing them to play aggressively up the rink. This team is built like a team that can make a run but the playoffs are a crap shoot so it is hard to tell. I will say that is the first time I've ever felt confident about a Wild team.

Shocker, the team that hired Bruce Boudreau got better, the team that fired him got worse.

Idk if it's fair to say the Ducks got worse... they're still right there... tho Corey Perry has had his obvious struggles...

Boston can still finish ahead of the Leafs if Toronto do not get at least a point tomorrow against the C-bus (as they are tied now, and Boston has a better ROW number)

Edmonton can still catch Anaheim, in theory
