Vanek to Minesota
Iginla to the Avs
Miller to Vancover

That top 6 is deadly.

Yup but looks like it's gonna be this actually which I also love:

Steen - Stasny - Backes
Schwartz - Lehtera - Tarasenko
Lindstrom/Berglund - Sobotka - Oshie

Absolutely great pick up by the Hawks.

Can't beat a top 6 of Sharp-Toews-Hossa and Saad-Richards-Kane

Sluh great pick up by Blues. But the Central and the West will come through Chicago like it usually does. Central is just loaded this year. I wouldn't call the Blues the favorite at all at this point though. Not really sure how you can? They still haven't gotten over the hump, I don't think just 1 player will do that.

I'll take the Blues Top 9 fowards and Top 4 defenseman over the Hawks any day.

come on, really? I mean you guys got some good players but I wouldn't consider any of them great. That's what separates the Blues from the Hawks IMO

I will take the Hawks 9 all day but that's just me

Is not Teravainen ready yet? I saw him in person at the WJC and he was unreal. His on-ice vision, creativity and hands were top notch. His skating did not look smooth, though. I hope he is ready soon because Richards at this point is useless.

I would argue Backes is a great player in Hitchcock's system. Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk I would also consider great players. Hawks of course have Toews, Kane, Hossa and Keith are of course great players. Blues added two playmaking centers whereas they previously had none. This also will allow Backes and Berglund (if he's not traded) to play more naturally on the wing. Schwartz and Tarasenko a year older. Agree to disagree but I'll take the Blues.

At $2mil..on that team? It's a great signing. Look at some of those deals today. Orpik's deal qualify's as crap.

Richards put up 50 pts w/ no one on his line. Give him Kane and he could put up 60-70.

Richards on his contract >>>> Stastny on his contract.

Btw, who are the Blues going to get to replace Miller? Miller carried St Louis in the 1st round.

He also played in the east which is the easter conference. He could prove me wrong but i'm skeptical.

Did you watch the 1st round? Miller had a 897 Sv% and a 2.70 GAA.

I'll admit we overpaid and u guys got Richards for a good price but Richards is not a 2nd line player. If he was your 3rd line C this would be a steal signing but relying on him as a 2nd line guy makes it just a okay signing IMO

You couldn't have watched the same series I did.

Elliott and Allen are the goalies.

Take it from a NYR fan. B-Rich on a $2 mil, 1-yr deal is terrific. Probably the best signing. Maybe 2nd to the Ehroff deal. Richards line mates for most of the year was Hagelin and Callahan/whoever replaced Callahan when he was hurt. Then they got MSL and B-Rich tried to do too much. I'm not sure who his line mates will be in Chicago but if he can put up similar production at $2mill, then you can't complain. Most NYR fan would've been happy with him at around $4.5 mil.

Yep. $21M between tied up in two players.

Crosby and Malkin make less combined. Ovechkin makes 9 million. I understand these guys are great players but they had 68 and 69 points each last season....Mats Zucarello had 59.

Yep. I mean the cap is going to go up so a couple years down the road these deals are going to look better, but I still think Chicago coulda done better.

Agreed, but at the same time you simply must lock those guys up. They are the cornerstone of the franchise, only 25 or 26 and with two cups already. Bowman can always restructure to make cap room if necessary, right?

Restructure their deals or the team? Cause there is no restructuring contracts in the NHL

I would have preferred giving them less but I'm not surprised given the contracts handed out this off-season.

The core of their team is young and locked up until 2020. Hossa and Sharp are the only two on the wrong side of 30, if I'm not mistaken.

Sharp will probably be a cap casualty, but Saad, if he continues to develop, will replace his production. They may lose Oduya next year and Seabrook the following year if the price tag is too high. I'm comfortable losing those three to sign Kane and Toews long term. Hossa's age catching up to him is the bigger issue, in my opinion. It's going to be hard to replace him.

They also have 2 Cups and a Conn Smythe each.
