Between this and Barnett I have no words

I do. Sure, they lost a game leading 2-0. But it wasn't because of the Kings, they lost the game because of two turnovers. That's encouraging because it's easily correctable.

On the Stepan turnover, play it up the boards. It's that simple. Guarantee that's fixed.

On the Girardi turnover, unlucky bounce plus panicking led to the turnover. However, McDonough jumped the rush too soon as did Zucc. That's correctable.

So while this sucks, the Rangers are still in it. AV is one of the best at adjustments. The Kings don't have an answer for the speed of the wingers. Quick is still slightly above average. They had 6 days off.

I expect a much cleaner and much more crisp game 2. Stay patient. It's a long series.

I hear you but you can't expect the Kings to play that poorly offensively going forward. They really didn't show any offensive skill other than the Doughty play. Quick got beat on 2 breakaways and that's it. Their 3rd period defense was ridiculously good.

There are a lot of positives to take away but Game 1 was very very important. I still think we can win in 7 but my confidence is not high.

Another barn burner. Rangers never fully got over that non-call, and the Kings kept attacking until they paid for it.

Doc summarized the series so far: if you are a casual observer, these games have been more than exciting, if you have a rooting interest, they are more than excruciating. So true. Enjoying this game with a high BAC and low blood pressure right now.

I'll be triple post in a row guy: Rangers were on the receiving end of some pretty bad calls tonight IMO, and the last one finished them. Hell of a game regardless.

Ain't that some bullshit. Should've never gotten to OT to begin with.

Random: Staple Center ice is awful.

Thought the Rangers dominated overtime. And maybe I'm biased but why does ever goddam puck seem to bounce right to a Kings stick. Gaborik's goal for example..there were 3 Rangers plus the goalie in that area and it bounces 3 different ways and lands perfectly in front of Gaborik's stick. So frustrating.

Series will probably end in 5 and people will say Rangers were outmatched but I think it's clear that the Kings are only marginally better than us.

Things may be different heading to NY. Rangers have looked the part for long streches and just have not finished. I don't expect a sweep after seeing what I've seen thus far, in fact I'm leaning towards this being a long series.

But ... I don't wish to here anymore of this nonsense of the Rangers never ever giving up 3rd period leads good sir.

When the Kings played the game at Dodger Stadium, they were telling them how awful the ice will be and they said they would be used to it because of the Staples ice. Since then though, I have heard the ice is much improved at Staples. The announcers during one of the earlier series even commented on the improvement.

That's improvement? Yikes. The Kings couldn't even get a clear breakaway because the pick just stopped.

I promise you the Rangers won't lose a game in regulation if they have a third period lead. Write it down.

Check your facts before you try and call me out good sir

Good luck to the Rangers.

They need it.

Kings looking to hoist the cup this year and safe money was on them, but now it's much much safer.

Totally agree, the Kings got some great bounces, but then that's hockey. When you have two evenly-matched teams, too often the difference is a bounce here or a bounce there.

But I agree with you, unless this goes 7 the narrative will be that the Kings were just the better team, the Rangers' luck ran out, etc. etc., and that's unfair and inaccurate.

The Rangers are better than anyone gave them credit for coming into the playoffs. Period.

What really impressed me is their depth. That fourth line of the Rangers is MONEY. There was one shift in particular where they had the Kings' top line hemmed in for a solid minute, looked like they were on a power play, and if they keep that up they could make a huge difference.

Check your facts before you try and call me out good sir

Well, to be fair though, what's the distinction? If the Rangers hadn't gotten a lucky goal on a miscommunication between Quick and Willie Mitchell, they would have been up only one goal in the third and the Kings' two third period goals would have won the game in regulation. They still gave up a two-goal lead in the third period.

But I don't know why I'm nitpicking. As I've already said, the Rangers are a better team than people have given them credit for. Peaking at the right time, maybe.

Anyway, it's been a great series so far, and the Kings are fortunate to be up 2-0.

And they weren't even outplayed that badly. The Kings only had 15 shots. A goal due to a crazy bounce, a goal on a power play due to a careless penalty, then another goal after a crazy bounce. Quick made two incredible saves with the paddle of his stick. I mean come on. Not saying there's not room to improve, but not as bad as the score indicated, imo.
