Thought the Rangers dominated overtime. And maybe I'm biased but why does ever goddam puck seem to bounce right to a Kings stick. Gaborik's goal for example..there were 3 Rangers plus the goalie in that area and it bounces 3 different ways and lands perfectly in front of Gaborik's stick. So frustrating.
Series will probably end in 5 and people will say Rangers were outmatched but I think it's clear that the Kings are only marginally better than us.
Totally agree, the Kings got some great bounces, but then that's hockey. When you have two evenly-matched teams, too often the difference is a bounce here or a bounce there.
But I agree with you, unless this goes 7 the narrative will be that the Kings were just the better team, the Rangers' luck ran out, etc. etc., and that's unfair and inaccurate.
The Rangers are better than anyone gave them credit for coming into the playoffs. Period.
What really impressed me is their depth. That fourth line of the Rangers is MONEY. There was one shift in particular where they had the Kings' top line hemmed in for a solid minute, looked like they were on a power play, and if they keep that up they could make a huge difference.
Check your facts before you try and call me out good sir
Well, to be fair though, what's the distinction? If the Rangers hadn't gotten a lucky goal on a miscommunication between Quick and Willie Mitchell, they would have been up only one goal in the third and the Kings' two third period goals would have won the game in regulation. They still gave up a two-goal lead in the third period.
But I don't know why I'm nitpicking. As I've already said, the Rangers are a better team than people have given them credit for. Peaking at the right time, maybe.
Anyway, it's been a great series so far, and the Kings are fortunate to be up 2-0.
