Ludwig is interesting. He has a broad resume, but nothing seems to stand out, except maybe the last year or two at Utah. I wonder if he even called the plays when he was at Oregon? Did Belotti? Not sure how much oh a handicap should be placed on PPG at Utah in the defenseless pac-12 either. He could turn out to be some sort of a version of Todd Monken at Georgia though- well-traveled and respected coach who finally found his niche. While Ludwig could be a home run, nothing on his resumes screams that it will be a home run though. Not sure if the '23 ND offense, nor MF in general, can cross their fingers and hope he's the real deal.
Greg Roman was mentioned. If he's interested, I'd think MF would have to seriously consider it. He easily has the best resume of anybody else being mentioned. The "Greg Roman sucks" crowd also has to consider though that he was the talk of the league several years ago when Jackson won the MVP. He was widely praised as the first NFL coach to ever finally adapt an offense to the running abilities of his QB, and suit the entire offense to that player. Prior, coaches really only gave some looks and concepts to the RGIII/Tebow types. Personally, I think much of the failure of Baltimore's O the last couple of years rests on Jackson's inabilities in throwing the ball, rather than on Greg Roman. Other than his brief stint with Stanford, his entire career has been in the NFL, so I think he'll stay there. Or maybe try a stint as a Saban analyst for a year or two.
Why is Jason Candle's name being mentioned?
